thanks for the honesty... I just launched a shopify store.... this week because I created digital products and wanted to have POD products as well. but just learned in a video prior this one that you have to pay for the POD item first with Printify/ printiful and you're right alot of youtubers do not mention that in their videos when they push to start a POD business. Thank you for also sharing about Passive POD vs Active POD. and some Passive POD sites! I am going to sign up asap!

You have no business trying to start a business if you can't float a couple of bucks for a sold item for 24 hours! If you list your POD item on Etsy, the customer pays up front. Etsy pays out daily. So unless you have zero dollars in your bank account. You shouldn't have any issue using Printful or Printify.

@@CS-uc2oh sweetheart I never stated I didn’t have the money I shared watching other POD KZfaq videos paying for it isn’t mentioned, alluring to some KZfaqrs aren’t sharing vital information and make POD sound like it is a very easy 1,2,3 go formula when it’s not. The Devil is in the details. Premise of my comment is glad this video was honest about the details. Bc there are people out there that may not have the money and not know from watching others that claim it’s free and easy to start up.

I had not considered this as an option until now. Me and my wife started creating vinyl shirts in our home on the side a few years ago with a Criket and a good headpress. We recently started getting into DFT and sublimation after buying and modifying printers. We are doing it the hard way and making way less in the process when you consider the time it takes to do it all yourself. We are going to do a 180 and concentrate on marketing instead of making!

It doesn't get any easier than Printful to Etsy. I don't even know what to say if you think it's hard. You create a template for your products in Printful and then just click "add to store"! I can do 100 products easy in a day.

Great video. I had no idea this was another option to POD. I’m sure each platform has a different pricing model. This is definitely something I’ll make my next move too. I just opened an Etsy shop. I am still slowly learning the ropes. I love the SEO component that passive POD uses. That is my biggest learning curve, interpreting information on e-rank and hoping it works. I understand that with time practice will improve this process. Did I mention I’m not a patient person? 🤣🤣. Thanks for sharing so openly. You are definitely a subscription channel for me.

Well, good luck on artsy, don’t believe all the Etsy gurus out there. They just opened the market to China, it won’t be as easy as those few people, here on YT, are telling you it is, and most of their Etsy info is garbage.

Greg, thanks for all of your information. It has been very helpful. I was planning to start my POD work with Red Bubble but when I looked into the new tier system fees it hardly seems worth it. For startups they will be taking a HUGE percentage of your profits. Any thoughts on this? How does this compare to the margins for other selling outlets? Thanks!

Not only does no one Shop on Red Bubble (seriously, I'm sure you've never in your life heard of anyone buying from there), but it's hard to not have them disable your listings and accounts. On that site, just about anything gets hit for copyright even if it's wrong.

I used Printify and I didnt make any money. I did about 4 sales in 3 months. Printify isnt clear with what it costs to used them. Then Etsy takes out more fees which left me in the hole on each sale. I closed my shop today which I had about 105 products listed. I didnt like how Printify charged me for each purchase and then etsy takes out fees from what the customer paid and left me with no profit.

Dang, that's annoying. Sorry to hear that. I would suggest uploading the designs you have already made to the passive sites. Free to do, you won't be charged anything ever, and they'll get traffic organically 👍

Greg I have a seller account, and I use the Amazon API to link with printful so the orders are placed, fulfilled and shipped automatically. The only thing is, yes, customer service is needed if there are any issues. But I use this process when I know there is a shirt I want to sell that falls outside the Merch guidelines.

Printify does have a free pop up store so you dont need a website. I recommend your own site but the pop up store is an option. Ive used that option for a couple local businesses I designed their website and linked their pop up for company merch. I have full Wordpress POD site but Im going to apply to Amazon after coming across your video. I do a several things to make money but want to pair down with POD and my design services. I love do branding and web design and add in POD. Thanks for sharing.

Printify now has its own store as well. With my printify yes I bring my own traffic but if they buy from my store they are paying for the product outright and I get paid on the 14th of each month.

You don’t have to do just Shopify with Printful or Printify. They also integrate with Walmart, TikTok Shop, etc.

How much tax would you pay I live in Australia so there would be totally different amounts of profit that I would get because of the exchange rate. Can you sell other stuff on the free POD like earrings pendants mugs etc

How is the quality of the passive POD products? Like with Printify I was able to buy and test the quality of their shirts as well as the print and pick the shirt brand that I preferred, as well as the printshop. Can you select a printshop/product, or is there just one main printshop/brand? And then is the main site basically responsible for everything like customer reviews and stuff? Seems like on Amazon, if theyre the ones that mess up, your product is still gonna get the bad review, right? Also, seems like pod products on Amazon are usually not great quality.

Hi Greg- I know many people get declined when they apply for a Merch on Demand account with Amazon. If that happens, is it possible to sell passive print on demand products using Amazon Seller Central and using Amazon to fulfill the orders or is this a case where I would have to use something like Printiful to create the products?

HI, I have learned a lot from your videos. Thank you. Off your recommendation I uploaded 12 of my designs to tee public. However, they assigned me as an apprentice status and will not allow my designs to be searched or are they listed the category. They require me to have a social media presence and/or website. Do you have insight on this? It is no longer passive if I am now advertising my teepublic link to make $3 a shirt. Shouldn't I just advertise my website? Am I missing something? Hey Jenny, I'll see if I can put together a designated video on this but it's just because it's a brand new account. Essentially, they label every new account as "Apprentice" but it automatically changes to "Artisan" once you upload enough designs and they see you're not a bot spamming the platform. They do this so brand new accounts that use bots to upload thousands of designs automatically don't all show up on the marketplace as spam.

I have started creating t shirt designs and haven't made a sale yet.. I have seen many youtube influencers speak about shopify etsy but they dont tell us the truth about it except you. I am looking forward to try affiliate soon enough. I am still in doubt about kicking off well in affiliate. We , Indians, do not have access for amazon merch. Great question. No you do not for all of them. Teepublic and Redbubble allow you to enter your PayPal email address to be paid, but Amazon Merch On Demand requires a social security number, TIN, or EIN. This is just so they can keep track of who they've paid with the IRS.

So now that I have so many different things going on, I’m trying to learn e-commerce and building my own website so that I can route all my projects to and from my website. I don’t unfortunately. Active POD sites would give you the most customizability as far as the types of clothing, printing areas, tags, and packaging.

There are bulk upload tools out there but I caution against them, particularly on new accounts, because of getting flagged as spam. Merch Informer has a good one called the single upload interface 👍

What do you think of RB new artist payment tiers? I have almost 3000 designs and am a Professional Graphic Artist selling monthly there and they put me in Standard Tier which seriously reduses my profits! I also, market for RB and contacted them to review my shop and they still wouldn't move me up in tiers.

@@vforvillainess I purchased many different item samples and white designs are great, color gets muted on black tees. All other samples I received were beautiful & high quality including cards/stickers/photo prints/mugs/hats/notebooks etc! I have worn my designs on the tees for over a year & they never fade or crack with the cotton material quite nice & soft.

Once you are rejected, if you try again with your same email address Amazon will immediate terminate your request. You will have to use a different email address to re-apply.

@@louisd95714 I don't believe the email address is the revealing factor. Names, locations, and IP addresses are stored on a cookie server. I've attempted to use three different devices with three distinct email addresses, yet before I could complete the process, I received a response stating that I already have an account on file. I possess a seller account for FBA and KDP; however, I was informed that the merch account is separate.

This is assuming that we can get approved through Merch. Some of us didn't, so now we go the Etsy route. Also, I would do both to increase income & not have all my sales on one platform.

I use printify and sell on etsy and i also have amazon however ive had amazon merch for like 2yrs and havent sold 1 shirt and still only have 10 slots 💀... disclaimer i wasnt active the whole 2 yrs but still.. these last few i was and still no sale yet.

I feel that people just, log onto Etsy, favorite the things you or I took time to make, steal the idea and copy it. Meanwhile, zero sales on Etsy. Just fees.

Great question. You get more products to print on, and you can scale faster with paid advertising. Granted, paid ads are hard to get right, but when you do you, if you've got a budget for it, you can scale really fast! I hope that helps!

Yes absolutely! They marketing your listings individually on the marketplaces though so you may not even need to make designated stores 👍

@@Alex-vt1ni After some research, it appears feasible, but profitability may be an issue due to Amazon and printing fees. Based on my experience, securing the buy box with FBM typically requires advertising, so I exclusively opt for FBA.

Tee Public is easier. Red Bubble has a tier system where you have to sell enough to get into the higher tiers to make more money. Teepublic doesn't do that.
