Not all Vans are shaped like an Era/Authentic, if you have a wider foot, you can get a Sk8 mid/high or a Half Cab. You can also pick from the skate pro collection (more durable + different sizing but little more expensive)

@@benjammin8510 I've had a pair of authentics, half cabs, and sk8 mids. The latter two definitely have more room for your feet. Yeah, they all use vulcanised soles, but the other models are wider than the authentics, so it isn't as snug.

I said xero shoes are too narrow, but it actually depends on which xero shoe you buy. Just recently, I bought the xero Ridgeway, and the width of the toe box was wide and comfortable. However, because I live in Florida, I found the shoes to be too insulated and too hot for the climate. But yea, I bought the xero HFS 1 and 2, I found them to be too narrow in the toe box.

I bought Vans because I thought they "looked cool" little did i know how tight they were, I wore them to Vegas and my pinky toe was squished to death from 3 days on walking on the strip. I don't know how such a popular shoe brand can have such a huge design flaw.

Amazon has some fairly cheap ones.. not sure how "good" they are, but my husband and I are pretty happy. Our urgent care doctor was wearing some. The brand we chose is Whitin. They were $30-$40. Amazon has other brands too, and you can always return them to a Kohl's that's partnered with Amazon...

I'm so used to barefoot shoes that the Vans are the ones that look goofy. I also found a video of my feet pre-barefoot shoes and they looked like old-lady feet all smashed together. I am surprised I was able to reverse so much of that.

I wore Van's for so long. Back when there were only four places that made Van's. All four were in California. The Van's stores were like houses, NOT in malls. You could look through their catalog and pick the fabric, texture and color of every part of the shoe. You would call back in five or six days to see if they were ready. They used to be ONLY made in The U.S.

@@Eckoolt I started wearing Van's when my family moved from Connecticut to California in 1968. By the early 80's there were very few Van's stores. They were not in shopping malls. They were their own stores about the size of a small house. The shoes used to be made in The U.S. of American components. The quality went down the toilet as soon as they started making them outside of The U.S. You used to be able to look at full books of different fabrics of different colors and texture and chose what parts of the shoe you wanted which fabric on. Then call the store in around 6 days to see if your shoes are ready. They made the shoes in the back part of some of the stores and in some warehouses too.

Yes you would. All of them have the same shape. There's maybe 3mm difference in width between all of them. Almost imperceptible.

I wore Van's since 1968 to 2018.I ended up getting plantar fasciitis and couldn't wear then another day. Now I wear shoes with wide toe boxes like Topo Athletic and Altra.

Sucks for me because I still haven't found anything that works for skating (actually doing tricks not just riding). Pretty much no skate brand makes wide/anatomical skate shoes so for years I have skated narrow shoes with my 4E wide feet. Now i have searing pain after 5 minutes of light skating. I wish I was into running. There's so many options in my size but I love skating and don't want to give up the only physical activity I enjoy.

@@phakoo23 Recently tried the wide size Old Skool vans and they're so much more comfy than the Vans i've always worn. Definitely recommend ordering in your usual size online if you want better fitting vans. Did have to tear out the glued insole though because it sucks. And only the canvas ones are available without customizing and waiting 3-5 weeks for delivery which is what i'll have to do to get my next pair in suede.

Barefoot is gold standard. If you wear shoes, find those that really fit the shape of your foot. Some have a wider or narrower toebox, very few actually come in different widths, so try them on and if your toes bump against the side, don't buy them.

Your online reviews helped me so much make my decisions on my shoes. Currently have Vivo for working out, Xero trek sandals for summer, Peerko go for winter, and Carets oxfords for looking fancy. It's a bit unfair to single out vans. This applies to EVERY shoe brand that isn't a barefoot or foot shaped shoe brand. I do wish that this would become normalised though so that a skate shoe company would start making a foot shaped skate shoe. There are no brands (foot shaped) that make a shoe that would be safe to skateboard in.

The problem I have noticed with barefoot shoes is that while the toe box area is accommodating, the midfoot is no different than a regular pair of shoes. So for a person with truly wide or extra wide feet, barefoot shoes may also not be the answer.

Haven't found anything and the wide vans don't seem all that wide (plus i can't try them on in store). At this point i'm about to skate in running shoes

I have a feeling the majority of people don’t know how to size shoes properly. I mean, you really throw them on and deal with your foot being squeezed or pinched? I’ve always tried them on in the store and if they’re not comfy in the store, they will never be comfy. And you might not be able to fit in the model you want. Oh well, try another model or brand Luckily, Vans have always been good for me (and I got wide feet). Switched to Chucks in high school. Dabbled in some skate shoes well after college. And back to Vans at 38yo. Pick a comfy shoe and your feet will be fine. Don’t settle for squeezing or pinching

I love my foot-shaped shoes. I am surprised at the amount of shallow people who are so concerned about the look of their feet that they're willing to be less comfortable and have foot issues in the future for the sake of fashion. I just don't get it. They're not even shaped THAT different. Do people really judge you on your shoe shape? What would you suggest for those who get pain in the tendon area closer to the heel while wearing barefoot shoes? I've been wearing them for years but still get soreness in that area.

You have plantar fascilitis. Foam roll the bottom of your feet with a massage ball or hard ball and release all the knots especially the area closer to the heel. Fyi is going to hurt really bad but it works.
