Unfortunately I can relate a lot to feeling very lonely at University and there has been a few times where I’ve thought about dropping out but right now I’m just trying to take each day as it comes and see how I feel. That’s so annoying being told the new course was full when it wasn’t. I’m glad you did what’s right for you though x

our situations feel soo similar. I'm also 18 and had to pick between studying filmmaking at UWE or Kingston, and I ended up choosing Kingston. I studied media and drama for A-Level, never filmmaking as a subject. I always thought I would do drama at uni or go to drama school, but I decided I wanted to try and get into the film industry and study filmmaking as I also love media. my living situation has been amazing too; I have lovely flatmates and it feels like a great community. however, I guess I'd convinced myself I wanted to study filmmaking but the course just isn't for me. I feel so out of place and inferior as lots of people had already done film and had much more experience than me. I've realised that I'm so much more in my element in drama instead. I haven't dropped out yet but I plan to drop out over Christmas and apply for drama schools/courses to start again next September. I'm so glad I came across your video and now realise there's probably many more people like us who are going through the same thing. thank you!

really relatable! im doing film (and french) rn. im about to finish up first year and then drop out. i feel like i am just gonna finish 1st year for my own peace of mind and so that i dont feel like ive wasted all this time now (8 months) and then in the future i can say to myself 'i completed one year of uni.' i had a good time socially at first, (2 of my flatmates dropped out in nov and dec and then socially i just felt very lonely after that) but i also didnt feel like i was learning anything and the course bored me. it just didnt feel right. no clue what im going to do for a job after i drop out this summer, but i know that uni isnt right for me. i know if i stayed id just feel like i was wasting my time and going into debt for no reason. i dont have any desire to work in the film industry in the future either. i agree with everything that you said. it was really nice to hear from somebody who had a really similar experience and feelings, so glad you figured out what was best for you and were brave enough to take action, ive felt this way for months but have been to scared to actually drop out

I kinda feel like this too. Coming back now in January, so far I’ve not felt happy at uni and want to drop out when I finish first year. But I’ve got no idea what I would do if I drop out

Hi Maddie Thanks for this video. I can relate, my son with your experience. He is in the process of dropping from a university this term from film TV and English studies and it is not an easy job , especially when you need to think when give your day of dropping. I would like to ask you about accommodation. The contract says it's for a year, if he leaves before then, he will still be paying until they find another student for the room. That looks cruel to me. How was it for you? Any sort of advice...Please
