Coming from a Floridian, I can confirm that some cities and towns are safer than others. The unfortunate part of being here, whether as a resident or a tourist, it's not all cracked up to be what people say. It used to be a nice place, but a lot of people have started to move here over the years, causing other states to become safer and cheaper. I'm glad that nothing happened to you and your wife, PK! You did the right thing by using dialogue to try to diffuse the situation and walking / driving away. No matter how old or feeble an aggressor may seem, concealed firearms are a reality in America, so you have to take care to avoid such confrontations, even if you could win a physical fight.
