This is why I believe the special sidearms are the best weapons in the game. Primary utility with special damage.

Everything that's not a hand cannon feels like a pea shooter and even most exotic primaries just feel awful. The only primaries I have in my characters inventory are Sunshot, Zaoulis and Wardens Law

Since into the light dropped, I’ve strictly used double specials or sunshot. There are so few primaries that are able to compete in todays meta

the only times I run out of double special is when teammates kill everything (which isnt a problem) but then they have no siphon mods or orb mods/powerful friends so sometimes its really hard to get armor charges to get the special finisher off

When they added champion stuns into the subclasses that devalued primaries even more. Mt favorite era of double special was when we had bricks from beyond. I used the hell out of hollow denial, blinding Pardon, and levis breath. Absolutely cranking the hog.

I thought they nerfed the double special juggler effect? Not enough to stop it from working I see 😅

What double special weapons would you recommend for a strand titan that loves stronghold. I use lament or bequest. I'd love to run stronghold for the dr, the team utility. But also want to be able to do decent damage in raids. Gm, and legend onslaught im golden.

I’m trying to get into double special and was wondering what are some exotic either special or heavy weapons that would be used. I have been mainly using primary exotics so I don’t know which ones are good.

To me, unless its exotic, primary weapons are pure utility. Incandescent to proc Subclass perks, Shoot to Loot, Attrition Orbs, etc. Graviton Lance, Sunshot, and sometimes Trinity Ghoul are the only primaries I seem to bring out unless I need Heal Clip for Benevolence and whatnot. Since it came out, Tusk of the Boar has been basically permanently locked in my loadout.

Do you consider impulse amp attrition orbs a god roll for indebted kindness? I saw that's the one you had. I didn't really think that would be that great of a roll, considering how bad attrition orbs is on most weapons.

Hey man great video, for someone like me whos not really tried double special in end game (not counting legend onslaught), would love to see some gameplay of like lowman/contest/master raid/dungeons using double special, like actually seeing it in action, seeing the "utility" getting used in real situations like proccing shoot to loot in a dps phase or someting like that, i have no idea but id love to see a walkthrough commentary of something like that

What double special loadouts would be good for a cenotaph warlock in onslaught? I don’t have the path of least resistance and I refuse to go into trials for that strand one.

You should try final warning. Hits like a truck to take our majors extremely fast and it spreads unraveling for cheap ad clear.

I heard “Destiny is a pretty easy game” and pushed through the absolute culture shock of that statement to see how the other side lives and hopefully gain some tips to get better. I thought they removed the juggler system from the game, and that you can’t get any special or heavy ammo unless you’re using a primary. Sometimes I run double special, but any time I have to sit in one spot peeking and chipping away at enemies for a long time, it’s just not a sustainable strategy.

6:53 Now that you mention it... I actually want a One-Two Punch sword! Heavy uppercut to the enemy's groin, then swap off sword for a One Punch Man style mega melee ready to obliterate whoever's unlucky enough to be within swinging distance. Sounds fun to me. :D

I still use Primary weapons (mostly Exotics) because most activities are not tough enough to warrant the whole mental juggling thing that comes with a double special loadout. That and double special also kinda makes rockets feel like a detriment to use, which a lot of DPS phases seem to incorporate nowadays.

Could you make some in depth build videos and show different types of content for double special loadouts, you do really good breakdowns of things already, but would love to see you do breakdowns with DPS numbers and the utilization of double special for different types of content. They would probably help inform people that Double Special is rather viable, this video does a good brief explanation, but sometimes people do want to see more gameplay of how things work as it gets broken down with different steps, plus seeing your loadouts for each subclass would be an entertaining video and help out players who are still learning about build crafting, or learn about underrated builds.

For me it completely depends on the primary, Elsie's Rifle is really good with destabe rounds because of the damage that High Impact Pulses can do, plus Elsie's rifle is a stats monster and can be great for devour builds or a Gyrfalcons hunter build. Not even gonna touch scout rifles because all you're doing is plink plonking at the back of the map, Zaouli's Bane I use because if I want to use Dragons Breath, Witherhoard, Anarchy, or Ghorn, then Z Bane is a good weapon to have. Now if I'm doing a raid then double special is better for DPS, I've used Scatter with Merciless, and used Apex Predator or DB with double fusions and it does really good damage. Only other time I main a primary is for lucky pants Hunter. Tommy's Matchbook with Loreley or Precious Scars is also pretty good on Titan, you get constant health regen along with constant ignitions. Anyway that's enough rambling, double special is fun and always will be, especially useful in raids or dungeons. Only other reason I use primaries are for champions.

your not right but your also not wrong, you cant just ignore and put aside sunshot and trinity but then bring up wave frames, if you wanna compare, compare the best each have to offer even tho you did clarify primaries are the best at utility and specifically finder, then why would you not be add-clearing with primaries to use the utility they bring? double specials isn't across the board better, theyre better for speeds yes but low mans and day ones they aren't and it also depends on rolls and environment, aeons and centoaph are good but you cant also proc it or have enough enemies to make up for the regen primaries bring, also the ttk for HCs and trinity is faster than specials expect for snipers and gls which are only good for tanker enemies, traces are average in comparison and wave frames dont have the range and sometimes cant be used and require positioning

the only primary weapons that i use are 450 Full Auto Sidearms, they do so much more dmg than any other primary weapons. sure thay have shitty range but most fights are close range anyways, idk why but when i rock double special i dont get any ammo drops no matter what.

I’ve been saying for a while, that bungie should just add an “exotic weight” to each exotic in the game, and set the max weight to a certain number. Meaning instead of equipping one exotic armor and one exotic weapon, you can equip as many as you want, as long as it’s within the maximum weight. Depending on how good or bad an exotic is, it’s unique weight can be changed. All armor could weigh 1-2, and weapons 1-3, with a max weight of 5. I think this would balance the game very well, and give so much more variety to build crafting. They could’ve done this instead of the class items in my opinion.

Running double specials just makes running elemental surges more difficult to maintain since you need to sit on armor charges for special finisher. Running primaries is more efficient unless you are strictly running solo content.

Non exotic primaries specifically suck in master/ GM activity. Nothing like using 2 clips to kill a red bar. I was going to add primary weapons are primarily also for champion stunning in addition to ad clear. But then you beat me to it! Read my mind… You must be a warlock main … Master over space magic like mind reading 😅 Also I do miss the golden days of double special where there was so heavy during raid and dungeon encounters you could always top up. It definitely bummed me out when they announced the pending change. Double special is definitely still viable… But doesn’t pay off in the heavy department nearly as much as it used too.

Exceptions for me: -zaoulis bane -time lost fatebringer -calus mini tool -ikelos smg -buzzard (overflow plus tremors is pretty good against barrier champions) -any gun with kinetic tremors/slice has really good utility although those perks can roll on special weapons. This is all copium

As a speed runner, I agree with 99.99% of this as primaries will fall off very quickly once you start doing master raids, GM’s and day 1 raids etc.

Double special meta isnt gone its been nerfed sbit but still easy winner depending on content and rally flag i run a machine gun then switch to linesr or rockets for DPS phase

Yeah double special loudout is cool untill you DO run out of ammo for everything and need to resort to abilities or punching to kill things

I quit primaries as well. They are just so weak if they are not exotic and with a massive investment in their damage boosting through surges. Like, why is my whole build built around a weak weapon?

Yeah this is all pretty true. I do feel like u didn’t go over exotics like aeons and cenotaph which play a major role in double special being way stronger in optimal play. But good video nonetheless

In my opinion, Primaries are like tools. If you need a tool and the one you got is not suited for long term work, don't use it. Outlaw and Rampage on Midnight Coup is a perfect example. Hell, I got a Transfiguration in my Vault with Rewind Rounds and Kinetic Tremors for when champion scout comes back and you often don't see Aeons or Cenotaph Mask.

Primaries like graviton lance, sunshot and that exotic stasis bow are the only viable primaries…next to Polaris lance and that exotic stasis scout that nobody uses are good.
