wondered how to make a main menu in roblox studio? or how to create a shop which has working GUI? ive made lots of 2024 roblox scripting tutorials about all the different bits of roblox to give you some up-to-date information about all of its properties and events.
my goal is to simply give some insight on how to use the various features and instances roblox studio, and show you some fun stuff you can do with them. thanks for checking out this roblox scripting tutorial :)

You know, I think everyone forgot what “simulation/simulator” means. A simulator needs to simulate something that also happens in the real world, not clicking on the screen to get a new lightsaber or something.

yeah fr, Gran Turismo and MSFS are Simulators while some devs think that a clicker "game" to get digital pets is a "simulator"

not trying to diss you but after the 65% waypoint in bee swarm the grinding gets worse so fast and it gets so bad people use macros instead of actually playing the game because its so soul rotting and boring, i like bee swarm but when it got so grindy it took forever for 1 bee only for it to be an ass bee it sucked

@@zaviergoesboom9759 BSS is just unbalanced past Petal Wand. I remember getting nearly everything on my own up until I had to start actually building an endgame hive. I had to solo macro blue hive for a while, slowly building towards red and I would continuously swap between red and blue due to the needs of the game for me. Ended up sticking with blue before I put the game down to play something actually fun. What the game needs is less grind, more reward. Feels like Onett just wants premium payouts rather than actually making a game. And not to be that guy, but it's really hard not to just completely rework the game myself and optimize, balance, and fix the underlying issues. I already have the fields and collector system working, it'll only take a week or two to get a working prototype down and from there it's just making a fully fleshed out fan overhaul.

I hate that these mindless clicker games get billions of plays while games with genuinely interesting gameplay mechanics are often left with under 100 active players at any given time. The reason these get so popular is because people will typically use autoclickers and AFK grind, so there's always a ton of people online at once.

The most dumb thing is, that "simulators" in roblox, ain't really simulators. If i find a Simulator on Steam for example, it will most likely be a game that really tries to simulate something. But in Roblox, simulator means for some reason to do something and get +1$ for it, after a while you just upgrade something and you'll make more than 1$. It's just an advanced Tycoon, not a simulator.

the "not human explainations" on vids is a FACT, man... the explainations are a total mess, they dont put things on a basic meaning or like a solid step by step explaination with LOGIC, because thats what the core concept the logic that makes things happens, like this does something that gives a result then this other thing does idk anything else... but the constant usage of that "general" terms are really unsatisfactory that it just upsets me. btw thanks to you i understood what a "return" does, you explained it straight to the point

The only genres I see get consistently popular are simulators and luckier RP games. Like, when I spit out slop last year as one of my first games and it just happened to be an RP game, it got 1.6M visits. My new, comparatively high quality games will be lucky to ever top 50k in the next 10 years.

What I like about you is that when I'm coding and looking at a script I wonder: "Why is this script composed like this? Why are THESE specific functions, syntax, ect. being used? What does (insert whatever) MEAN?" You pre much answer the conventional questions that makes it way easier to digest the content you put out. Keep doing what you doing!

i feel like waitforchild isn't bad practice just really annoying to work with because if an infinite yield happens it just blows everything up. The next line of code is unreadable just because an instance you said would be there isn't there in time. Even as a variable that doesn't do anything yet and because you're not looping the wait technically even if the instance is there the code isn't going back to the small window of the waitforchild in time to check even though its waiting????!!!! The infinite yield will pop up after a literal less than a second goes by not even close to the projection that it will wait for an eternity. Didn't even give the game time to WAIT???? Roblox should really fix that. If you have functions that need to play upon joining the game. Work around a loading screen.

WaitForChild has a second parameter that limits how long it can wait for. I didn’t use it here but you could easily do a WaitForChild(thing, 5)

It's quite unfortunate that today's standard on roblox is simulator games, but there is nothing we can do. My advice, make simulator games until you make enough robux, where you can make your dream game, because I am very sure your dream game won't succeed due to the games people play on roblox nowadays, I had to figure this out the hard way but now I have the experience, it's been going along smoothly.

It pains me that p2p games and simulators are the top games on roblox, mining simulator being 10x more popular than azure mines or the celestial caverns makes me think there is no hope for us (don’t get me started on Rex:r which isn’t as bad as most simulators but still being done the whole game in 2 weeks of grinding and then it’s just rare hunting isn’t fun)

slap battles is not a simulator sure it was CLOSE to being a simulator when it first came out (im an og) but still not a simulator, the thing is most gloves in slap battles needs skill sadly kids now adays dont have that so they play simulators

Slap battles is a simulator. Simulator gameplay revolves around Simulating a repetitive task to get a currency/count to get items that help do this task better. In slap battles you simulate a repetitive basic task (slapping) to get a currency/count (slaps) to get items that help you do this task better (stronger gloves)

@anderslarsen2578 badge gloves would be considered extra gameplay to a simulator. I wouldn't say pet Sim 99 isn't a simulator because they have some obbies or challenges to get rewards. (Plus most the badge gloves fall under simulating a repetitive task to get gloves that allow you to access more repetitive tasks, which is just a slightly altered simulator formula)

@@steveminecraft5887Yeah and honestly though atleast it isnt trying to be a cashcow with overly monitized updates. besides the occasional gamepass glove and then the addition of the VIP subscription for what i would say is a reasonable price of below £10 for decent benefits
