"Just know that the work that you're doing will prepare you for that next chapter in your life... your work will not be in vain." Thank you for that! Your video was recommended to me and I'm so glad b/c this is just what I needed to hear. I am from NYC. I just graduated with 2 bachelor's degrees (Early Childhood Education & English Lit). In NYC, teachers have to obtain a MA degree within 5 yrs so I was like okay, I'm going to take summer off and in the fall work as a teaching assistant by day while doing classes at night for the Master's class . I got the job in June to start in Sept. Then, AFTER being accepted into the program and paying for my classes, they tell us we need 3 yrs as full-time head teachers to graduate. So we can take the classes but cannot graduate without those 3 yrs. My dad is from Surrey, I've never been but I've always dreamt of moving to England. It feels like that dream is getting pushed further and further back and I'll never be done with American schooling and hustle culture. For now, I'm thinking maybe I'll find a way to use summers to visit England, maybe even volunteer or do short-term work within teaching. Whew, that was a lot! Thank you for sharing your experiences. Have a great day! :)

Please excuse me for butting in on your conversation. From what i know about becoming a teacher in the uk, once you finish your degree you can do a one year course for teacher training. Or along those lines as im pretty sure you dont need a masters. You should check it out on the uk gov website. I was a school governor for six years and sat on a few interview panels. It was in our primary age school so 4-11 we had a few first time teachers called nqt or non qualified teachers who are like probationers. Again i apologise and i hope my info helps you in so e way

@jeanm34 3 жыл бұрын
@@MrDunkycraig Thank you, I appreciate this information! I just pulled out of the master's program that I would be starting in the Fall b/c having the next 3-4 years already planned out leaves me with no room to live my life (or at least it feels that way after having spent so many years at the university I was in). I may do a 1 yr program that is for Master of Science in Business and Human Resource Management. I feel like this may help expand possible career options whether in the U.S. or U.K. but I'm still researching! :)

I personally dislike living in the uk and am myself a self employed person living in a seaside resort in the north of England but a lot of uk people have different opinions depending upon there experiences and situation eg a person living in the city who has a good job and too preoccupied with it might think differently or the wealthy like the politicians and the royals . But personally I feel the only real positives about living here are the royal family , free nhs (which we have to pay for in our taxes anyways ) , and the economy, employment and education even though where I live there isn’t much of that . But for most it’s getting generally very hard for the young to find cheap housing , education is very expensive as your paying over £40k in student loans for a degree ,food prices and inflation are rising rapidly, a government who is full of promises who’s hardly delivering and isn’t really focused on the people but keeping themselves in power and concentrating on legally lining there own pockets and there’s a lot of inter party conflicts and dismissal , cost of renting has gone sky high , a lot of people can be quite unsociable if your a stranger and a lot of people are weary of each other and there are a lot of social and health issues , isolation and depression - overburdened nhs and long waiting times . The crime rate is fairly high in some parts . Some of the place looks gloomy - rundown shops and old houses , factories , warehouses and a lot of pollution including the air, water and all the chemicals in our overprocessed food - we are one of the most unhealthiest countries in Europe. Loads of homeless and people living in poverty looking to food banks , immigrants - brexit was supposed to have helped but it hardly hasn’t which was about the only distinctive thing the conservatives managed to achieve for us in the last 30 odd years and where I live there are large hotels housing these immigrants whilst the local council ignores the English homeless and druggies and prostitutes and other groups on the fringes of society that are living on the streets just outside . We also aren’t in with the euro like the rest of Europe so it costs more to go on holidays and the hassle of conversion and other problems it brings such as having to pay extra on buying goods from abroad as well as the problems this caused our businesses . Yeah we have the freedom to criticise the government at least which we do a lot of but we wouldn’t have to criticise the government in the first place if we had a good one . But a lot of it for me is the weather- most of the time in England the weather is crap especially in the north where I live - I work from home so because I don’t have loads of friends and family I like to go outdoors a lot to exercise and get fresh air to reduce the boredom of being inside but most the time the weather is gloomy eg it’s like I wanted to go for a long walk the other day and it was p***** it down all day for two days in a row and it’s mid summer - then we get tons of windy cloudy miserable days were it’s hard to motivate yourself to even leave the house - the weathers so unpredictable in the uk as well and you never know how it’s going to behave from one moment to another and that’s just summer - then there’s winter - freezing , raining, windy , Ice, cloudy , and where I live it starts geting dark very early and in mid winter it starts getting dark by 1pm and it can be dark as early as 3pm- and it’s almost as bad as this for almost half the year and it’s so depressing . And then when you eventually get a good day but because you’ve been so depressed having been stuck inside because of the bad weather you find it hard to motivate yourself to go outside and you’ll find you need a car a lot of the time especially in winter but it is a bit warmer in the south if your lucky enough to live there or can afford to live there but it’s not much warmer there either and there can be flooding in some parts . Then there’s all the heating bills you have to pay just to keep your house warm most of the year . Then when you do go outside your breathing in all the crap air full of pollutants so your probably doing yourself more harm than good and especially a lot of the beaches are polluted and the water is freezing and a lot of the food is highly processed and a lot of people are in poor health . I hate the UK- it’s just a small crappy post industrial island . I mean there are worst places in the world and other countries have there own problems but it wouldn’t be a bad place if the weather was better and the days were longer in winter as our economy is quite good and there are some interesting places to visit and there are things to do eg night clubs , bars, theatres , theme parks, cinema , beaches, countryside, large city centres and shopping , parks etc but when the weathers bad they are not that appealing . I personally wouldn’t recommend people come to live here if they have good weather and standard of living in there own country unless they are from a poor country with little prospects and not even for a holiday unless you want to visit a few of places worth visiting that have some cultural heritage like London inc Westminster or oxford or a warmer seaside resort like Cornwall - don’t bother with the rest . That’s why a lot of people move abroad from here which is what am going to do soon and am sure I’ll never look back .

@maudeboggins9834
@maudeboggins9834 Жыл бұрын
@@DiamondGunn_ Thank you for your reply. A quick history of driving on the left. In days of horses as modes of transport & in battle, one held the reins in the left hand & sword in the right. 90% of people are right handed. If you imagine riding on a horse & holding your arm up to wave or shake hands, is it easier to ride the horse on the left side & come into natural & comfortable contact with the other person? Also if you are in battle & want to hurt your opponent one does not have to reach across at an uncomfortable angle. Napoleon was left handed, true fact, & everyone had to abide by his whims. He marched all over northern Europe. Britain detested Napoleon, Napoleon was not victories in England & called England a Nation of Shopkeepers. But England was not going to bow to Napoleon, furthermore if you Google the safest place to drive in Europe regardng road accidents & deaths Britain & Malta are the top two. Cyprus drive on the left but alas they are subject to chaos.

@@DiamondGunn_ One more thing on the subject of Napoleon Thomas Jefferson was a big fan of Napoleon & regularly went to France to cosy up to Napoleon & speak to him in his native French. The Louisiana purchase was 1803. Napoleon de facto leader of France 1799 - 1804. Jefferson President 1801 - 1809. Evidently Thomas Jefferson sweet talked Napoleon into the sale.

Great question! It took about an hour of driving for me to get use to being on the opposite side of the car and turning but almost everything is a right turn for me, very few intersections to cross. The roundabouts though 😱 Turning my signals on at the correct time took some time lol

@@DiamondGunn_ You're making life very difficult for yourself by driving a left hand drive car in the UK. Very difficult to overtake when you can't see clearly traffic coming the other way. Similarly when parallel parked and a host of other situations. When you come to change your car no one will want to buy it (unless you ask a rock bottom price).

I have both but in this video I was in my right drive. This video was recorded with my phone so it looks like I'm on the left but to answer your question it's not difficult for me because my left drive is higher than UK cars so I can see pass people with more ease. Plus I'm so use to the roads I know which side to check when turning 😊 Great question, thank you for watching and supporting 💕💎

You seem like a delightful person. At the risk of getting negative comments from others, I'd just like to point out that generally using the letter S to make a word plural doesn't need an apostrophe. You did that with the weekdays and a lot of people do have this minor misunderstanding. It's known as the grocer's apostrophe e.g. apple's. The apostrophe is almost always inserted before an S to indicate ownership, or belonging to. The major exception to this rule is it's, meaning it is. So therefore its without the apostrophe is understood as belonging to it. The other very common error is your when really it should be you're, as a brief way of saying you are.

Hi Diamond. I've just started watching your vlog, for the first time. One thing strikes me right off (and I say this to all British people too..) - unless you're there because you're very rich and maybe enjoy the relative emptiness of the shop.. don't buy your food at Marks and Spencer - it's a rip-off. :)

This is interesting. Most Americans are trying to move to Florida for tax purposes. Ok, Georgia, yeah, I'd want to roll out too. The south does that to black folk. I lived in Seattle for almost four years and not one black friend I told in Seattle thought it was a good idea for me to go back to the east coast much less the south. Yeah, try to live your best years in the UK, to start. There may be more travel that's much better, who knows.
