I was fired from my last job because someone told the manager I wasn’t happy. That was the reason that was given. I totally agree with the bad management!

Well now, I know these people well. I experienced most of the same during my 14 months there. I applaude you for your public candidness. I can only imagine what was said about me after I was "not up to company standards". However, I learned SOOO much while working there! I learned exactly what a manager should not be. I learned that internal cliques, when allowed to happen, are essentially 'poison' for a work environment. Take everything that you experienced, and make it a course in How Not to Run A Store. You are better than they ever thought you were.

I thought you brought up a good point - you can believe in the company and support what it stands for but in a toxic environment you won’t be able to thrive. What you’re going through is common in all jobs no matter the profession. Being loyal to a company, you expect to grow with them. I felt like when you were promoted in the holiday months, it was more for you about your achievements and accomplishments at Sephora in the past few years rather than the pay. Sadie!!! I went through the same thing but in banking literally everything was just like you experienced there ...like doing good in sales, the pay, doing your all, then the change! I did the same with demoting myself and then management seemed to act so ugly. The atmosphere had changed tremendously and I knew I had to go!!! But I am now in a better space, different profession and far from sales because they made it so bad for me that I never wanted to do banking anymore. I can relate because I’ve worked with them like forever and I’m in a freestanding store. The company has changed a lot unfortunately. As you said it perfectly in the beginning.. it’s all about the people you work for. The thing is because of Ulta being our biggest competition they put pressure on managers and this is what you get. Working in the company has gotten really bad the past couple of years and I’m looking to leave also and I’m not even management but because the story you told about how they promised you a position has been played out in our store so many times before. The awesome thing about Sephora is that once you’re in and you get to know people and brands it opens doors for you for other opportunities. I’m glad you were able to move on and be happy. You deserve that.❤️

I feel you, girl. My last job, my manager was CLEARLY out to get me and made the environment at work a living hell. She was so visibly jealous that I was successful and she was rude to me for no reason at all and would yell at me and talk down to me all the time. I'd "get in trouble" for the most random things, and my coworkers would do the same or "worse" things and nothing would ever happen to them. It was so toxic. I finally had decided to quit and I wrote a letter to the owners and it felt so good to leave from that place. No one deserves to be treated that way especially in a professional work environment! Omg i worked at a SiJCP too and management treated me the exact same way. They would put me down, call me into the office, and they would make things up about me that weren’t true. One week they wanted to promote me and have me do more, and the next they would talk down on me and tell me they were watching me and that they could replace me in 2 weeks. It was horrible and really brought my self confidence down even though i did nothing wrong but was doing what i loved. I ended up quitting immediately that this became toxic to me.

I totally agree with you . I use to work for Walgreens beauty department . I was a beauty advisor at the time and the second we got a new assistant manager she just tried EVERYTHING TO GET RID OF ALL THE EMPLOYEES to hire her people . I got another job at sams and just stayed at Walgreens part time working only one day out of the week. I did this for about a year until I eventually found a full time good paying job where I left both sams and Walgreens . What bothers me the most is that they want the good employees out and the people above them see it and don’t care or aren’t even aware of what actually goes on in the stores itself. It’s really sad bcuz they are the ones loosing ; not us . I’m sorry to hear you had to go through that. On another note you don’t have to feel that negativity any longer. Best of luck ! 🥰

Girl, I feel you on this. I used to work at a pretty high end salon in LA as an assistant and my boss would talk down to me all the time. Make comments on my weight in front of his clients and embarrass me. Saying things like - " Oh, she's so skinny. She never eats." Yelled at me for not wearing "enough" makeup to work and told me to go put on some more. & The list of insults went on and on. Fast forward months later I broke my elbow and was out of work and he had the audacity to fire me while I was out on disability.

I worked at a Starbucks that was such a hostile work environment, it was unbelievable. I finally quit, & after I left I heard through the grapevine that they were telling people I got fired? & genuinely do not understand these managers & their power trips. I’m glad you got out of there! Life is way too short for that negativity.

I do retail too and they always tell us not to buy anything on the clock because we'll get fired. It's a thing...but weird they didn't warn you about it.

After 9+ years at my job at Delta Air Lines outta nowhere a bunch of people were let go in all departments. Totally blindsided. I am still trying to figure out the real reason but on to bigger and better things. I was devastated. Best job I ever had.

I teared up hearing this, a similar story happend to me. Someone with no experience got a job over me and I was told to train them. Once I said no I got retaliated, so I switched stores because I was living in hell for 5 months. I am happy now. People don't quit jobs they quit management. But also karma eventually will get them. Same happened to me at my old job ...wanted to apply for specific position was told the position entailed more so was not given an opportunity...turned out they gave it to an outsider that was friends with a different co worker who had zero experience. So I agree its messed up for sure

You know what I think happened Sadie JEALOUSY! I’m sure you get along with everyone WELL with everyone NATURALLY. You managed to reach your goal or even higher in the four months of being an assistant manager and manager than what the General Manager accomplished. I hate the whole everything happens for a reason statement because it’s not okay to fire someone from their job with out probably causes such as stealing, showing up late, and being disrespectful to co workers/ customer managers and the like. I understand this cuz the same thing happens at my work with my management .. i honestly dont know how those people weave their way to the top but its extremely sad when theres people working themselves to the bone while others are NOT working and calling out hard workers trying to find ways to get rid of them instead of doing their own jobs. (They try and break you down to make you quit so they can get out of paying unemployment, etc) all I can say is what goes around comes around with crooked people in these positions! There's a ton of favoritism, and I guessed it before you even said, that those two were friends..a typical recruitment. "Birds of a feather flock together." You are a wonderful person, and making this video sheds light to others who think they're being singled out and harassed, when in reality, they're a victim of circumstance. 💙 You have a great attitude, and you will be successful, I BELIEVE THAT! 💯🙌

Everything happens for a reason. I thrived in a position before the one I’m in now and wasn’t appreciated at all so i got another job in the same company making 4 times what i was making and fast forward to a boss that appreciates me and my work. I’ve received 18% pay increase in the past 2 years and 10 months 🙌🏽❤️ keep thriving Sadie !!!

This is almost the same exact reason I left Ulta as a manager. You really hit home when you started talking about getting called into the office for an attitude, and also getting new higher ups that caused a shady environment. She used to make us go into the office and talk about the other employees weaknesses, then she would tell them what was said and made so many people cry. It was very hostile. Like you said, we only have like 2 members of the OG crew left. So sad :(
