Great share! I still love CD's (recently got again some stuff I had on vinyl), Anthrax, Death, Powerwolf and old school thrash metal, but have tons of blues, Kate Bush, NWOBHM, comedy stuff like Deadringers, Hancock, Kenneth Williams, Frankie Howerd etc, plenty of these you can pick up for a song! I do miss vinyl, like you I had to sell back in the day, but still love CD's. I only now buy bluray- old school horror, pre 1970's films etc and still love physical books. All the best.

Thank you for your comments, I can understand if you have a big record collection, I wish I still had mine. However over the years my CD collection has built up and I do genuinely love collecting them. I've got some great very collectible albums, and I play them every day, I love music, I don't just want to admire what they look like and what colour they are. Yes that is for some part of collecting but for me it's all about the music. 👍

Awesome look at some of your collection, Ian! I have a box full of cds in my closet that I've been considering taking to a shop, but after seeing this video I will happily hold onto them :)

Thanks Phillip for your comments, I'm hoping the CD revival will take off like records or vinyl is doing. However without the inflated prices. I'm glad you will hold on to and value your cds. 👍

We are cut from the same cloth! Never stopped buying CDs, and just now am increasing my Stones and Kinks collection, some good bargains out there. As for collectors editions, the Jethro Tull Anniversary ‘book’ editions are absolutely fantastic, very happy to have them in my collection - not something you can say with streaming!

@SuperGrumpyDaddy Thanks for your comments, it's all about the music and collecting cds it is a big part of that. I've built up a big collection which I love and wouldn't change. 👍

Great collection of CDs you have! you still can't beat the sound quality though of an LP on an expensive stereo's turntable. IMO

Thanks for your comments, my brother would agree with you, he is a hi fi buff. However I'm just expressing my personal experience, it's CDs all the way for me. 👍

Great Collection Ian, those cds are a work of art even though I like records better; the price of them means I just pick up what I can at op shops. I’ve managed to pick up Harvest, Tapestry, Sgt Pepper on record and many others for a few dollars. I have about 150 records and same in cds. I even pick up cassettes- the sound is different.

Thanks for your comments, sounds like you have a good taste in music, you mention some great classic albums. I do have about 20 records, but they are so expensive I don't want to get anymore. My large collection of cds I do love, and get a lot of enjoyment from them. Everybody should collect what suits them but as I always say its about the music. 👍

Yes Ian i like my cds too. Streaming is the big thing now though and people have got rid of their cd collections. It seems people have got far less attention spans today because they are spoilt for choice on the streaming service with millions of songs to check out and they tend to skip from one track to the other without sitting down and listening to the whole albums all the way through. thanks😀
@ian23doc3 ай бұрын
Thanks Justin for your comments, streaming has devalued albums as works of art, getting the whole experience. People have as you quite rightly say have no attention span. They don't appreciate physical media like cds, it's very sad! 👍

Hi Ian , Love your cd collection, i agree with you that vinly is too expensive now, in the 80s i had a big vinyl collection and sold them all , looking back i wish i had if kept them all , lately i have been buying second hand vinly but the lps do take up a lot of room compared to cds , i recently went to a charity shop and picked up about 20 cds for £4 a mixed bag, U2 , ZZ Top , Heart , New Order , Flock of Seagull's, Fleetwood Mac , some punk cds and other great cds , there is nothing better than finding a cd at a bargain price compared to a new Vinyl at £30-£40 Im disappointed that CEX stopped selling cds because they used to sell cds some as low as 20p . Have a great weekend 👍 David

Thanks David for all your comments, I'm really pleased you agree with me. It's like people have dismissed them and not really seen how good they are. They are very collectible and for me ultimately its all about the music! I think it's great to get bargains too, who cannot love getting one! The price of the new vinyl records is overpriced and I think people are being ripped off. 👍

@@ian23doc Hi Ian , Yes I agree when it comes to the price of vinyl people are being ripped off , i was in HMV and the prices of the vinyl are shocking, you can pick up the original LPs cheaper second hand than these reissues, recently I picked up some second hand original Police albums for £5 each and Marillion Misplaced childhood original album for £6.99 in HMV the reissues are £25-£30 each 😮 I don't mind paying a little extra for original picture discs . Oh Ian last summer I picked up The Clash give em enough Rope in Clevelys near Blackpool charity shop for £1.50 in great condition I was so happy to get it 😂 Ian do you remember that certain album sleeves would smell? The Damned Strawberries album insert sleeve smelled of 🍓 and Madonnas like a prayer inside sleeve had a lovely incense smell .
@ian23doc4 ай бұрын
@davidGPS95 I think picking up second hand records is great, they are so much cheaper and more authentic. As I say the vinyl colour might look nice, but at that price it's not for me. For me it's all about the music. The Clash were a big favourite of mine, I must have seen them six times live, they came to the University here in my town. Saw them twice in Leeds, then in Manchester and twice in London in Hyde Park on two big bills. I did see a lot of groups and artists between 1977 to 1982. I never saw The Damned, that is a big regret at the time they were in their prime. I often forget who I've seen, then I remember. 👍

I get your point about the price of LPs. I was in Rough Trade NYC last year, and it seemed like most of them were selling there for at least $27.00 per album. CDs were 15 or $16.00. I currently have a few hundred LPs and have catalogued 829 CDs so far. At this point in my life, CDs suit me just fine. Thanks for sharing part of your collection with us.
@ian23doc4 ай бұрын
Thank you Stuart for your comments, it is quite clear that new records now are very overpriced. It seems to me it's no longer about the music. CDs are better value and just as collectible while enjoying good quality sound. 👍

Thanks Thomas for your comments, as you can see from my channel I'm a big supporter of physical media. It's the best way I can enjoy films, TV shows and music. I'm not a supporter of streaming. 👍

Me either.The only time I ever listen to it is when I want to check out a band I never heard of.If it's any good then I'll buy the cd@@ian23doc

Hi Ian it's great that you got to see the Clash so many times , what's the best and worst concert you went to ? For me the best concert was Nazareth, great concert with amazing atmosphere and I got to meet Dan McCatherty after the concert, the worst and this might surprise you was ACDC with Brian Johnson, awful concert with the band going through the motions really disappointing. Oh did you ever see the original Stranglers live ? That's a band I love but I never seen them with Hugh Cornwell ?
@ian23doc3 ай бұрын
David The Stranglers were the first band I saw in 1977, they were supported by Australian Punk band The Saints and The Drones from Manchester. I saw the Stranglers another 2 times. I think one of the best concerts I saw was Joy Division supporting The Buzzcocks, they were amazing. Also seeing Kate Bush in Birmingham on her first tour. The worst concert, was The Pretenders, I do love their music. However Chrissie Hynde was in a bad mood, the band didn't sound good and they played for less than an hour with no encore. 👍
@davidGPS953 ай бұрын
@@ian23doc Hi Ian , Your so lucky that you seen Kate Bush in her prime that must have been an amazing experience, also Joy Division 👍 I have only seen New Order and Peter Hook with his band , do you ever think Hugh Cornwell will ever get back with Burnell ?
@davidGPS953 ай бұрын
@@ian23doc Ian what do you think of the Buzzcocks singer now without Pete Shelley and do you ever go to the Punk festival Rebellion every year at Blackpool? I'm sure the Buzzcocks played at Rebellion before Shelley passed away.
@davidGPS953 ай бұрын
Oh Ian forgot to Ask have you seen The Jam and The Skids in concert ?
@ian23doc3 ай бұрын
@davidGPS95 I think that time has passed for Hugh Cornell, especially with the deaths of the drummer and keyboard player. The version of the Stranglers has had only had one original member.
