I also like the Petronas Twin Towers very much, in fact I was working with the KLCC project from the site office in 1993, throughout the foundation, construction, completion and migration to the towers. Not many buildings in the world have a curtainwall cladding of stainless steel and glass. Thank you to the architectural firm Cesar Pelli & Associates and the structural engineering firm Thornton Tomasetti, both from the USA. 😀

it doesn't flood because KL has a flood system called SMART TUNNEL which is a very long and huge pipe/tunnel that acts as a gateway for way to flow out from KL , and if it doesn't function as it's suppose to , it's an expressway . you should go read about it , it's very fascinating

I am leaving for Istanbul, Saudi Arabia and Doha, Qatar next week....I have traveled all over Africa, Europe , Asia, and the Middle East. And I WON'T STOP GOING

Yuna is not the only one from Malaysia..the first Asian woman to win an oscar Michelle Yeoh is also from Malaysia as well..what I like about Malaysia is the variety of food from various countries and multi ethnic, multi religious in one country living harmoniously.. what's even more interesting is that my mother is from malaysia and i'm half malaysian..i'm proud to be a part of malaysian people..💕from🇵🇹

@@QueenofDC there is another interesting fact about malaysians.. most of them can speak more than 2 languages.. my mother's family in malaysia also includes my mother who can speak 6 languages.. if we as a family get together we usually speak multiple languages at the same time as well as relatives.. the situation will be chaos like in the market🤣hope you have great memories in malaysia🥰

That was my problem because I didn't use my Spanish after 4 years I forgot the most part. I've been studying French for the past 7 years and love it. I enjoy learning new languages. In Brazil 🇧🇷 I did well for a newbie just learning the language but again, I haven't used it 😥. Thank you!! Great memories being created ❤️.

@@QueenofDC well Merdeka mean independence.... so, now you know what mean by Merdeka Building... its independence building/tower.... the symbol of our independence... the building wich we call PNB 118 MERDEKA tower now become second tallest in the world is stand just beside Merdeka Stadium.... the place that our 1st independence day celebration was held on 31st August 1957... 66 years ago.... 😃😃... but the stadium is under renovation and will upgrade to intergrated with PNB 118 MERDEKA TOWER... and.. just to mention... if you want to feel how Merdeka day is celebrate... just go to Putrajaya tommorow morning...Putrajaya is Administration capital for Malaysia goverment its looks like Washington D.C... just take MRT Putrajaya line from KL.. about 30 minute to 40 minute you will be arrive to Putrajaya MRT station... hope you enjoy your staycation in Malaysia... (proud Malaysian here.. hahaha)😅😅😅

@@QueenofDCMy retired dad was the light consultant when KLCC was being built. I was studying in Oregon that time. KLCC was lit by Osram (German) and Phillips (Dutch) so you are right.

@@QueenofDC I've traveled to many countries and, live in a few cities in South East Asia. Comparatively, Malaysia is a relatively cheap, safe and a fairly developed country. Malaysia is a very welcoming country.

I have been in Thailand for 9 months and I have been to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. I plan to go to the Philippines in Sept, Sri Lanka in November and Taiwan in December. As a solo female traveler I have felt safe and I am so glad I decided to try Asia.

I do plan to visit Taiwan and the Philippines. Asia has been wonderful. I knew February was a good time to visit Thailand so that started my SE Asia journey and like you, best decision! Glad you're happy here. and it feels good listening to your black american accent, as if am listening to american R&B songs.. haha.. while you should be safe here, still be cautious of your surrounding. malaysians are the malays, chinese & indians who makes up the majority, and some other minority races & ethnics too. there are also immigrants from indonesia, bangladesh, myanmar, vietnam, nepal that do look similar to us but they're lack of local sensitivities. make sure you get to know the real locals ya.

Hi Queen of DC, for a change of scenery & pace, I would suggest you to explore Putrajaya. It's Malaysia's administrative capital. There are a lot of green spaces, lakes and places of worships. It's not that far from KL city centre, about 25km and can be reached by metro (MRT Putrajaya) or by ERL. Since it's the administrative hub of Malaysia, it's where most of the public officials, members of the civil service and government buildings reside. KL used to be both administrative and economic hubs but since the late 90's Putrajaya, was developed to reduce congestion and improve productivity among civil service members. KL remains the economic center of Malaysia. I really hope you can explore the place since you're also from Washington DC (the capital of USA), and also because not many foreigners cover Putrajaya in their videos. Jalan Alor isn't really street food. More like outdoor restaurants. My suggestion...go to Wong Ah Wah, toward the end. They have an airconditioned room if you don't want to sit outside and catch that evening rain. Order bbq chicken wings, fried rice, butter prawns(the one without the flossy egg on top), baby kai lan, a steam fish. Feeds 4, so go with friends. All less than $50, about $12 each. 😋
