So Beautiful. Played ABZU a few days again and whale sharks are big and beautiful.

Thank you for your work You are a big inspiration and I actually bought some water-based markers. They were not expensive and are fun to use.

I'm considering if I should commit to them. These actually are expensive in my country, alcohol markets are too. And while alcohol markers are more expensive, I've had them before and I know I like them. So this would actually be riskier for me lol

Lovely page ❤ Also the Ohuhu ones imo are as good as tombows which were really disappointing for me. They fray just as fast and there are only about 2 warm leaning blues. Another good option is Pitt pens (the dual ended ones are so good). They’re lightfast mostly made of India ink and feel so good to draw with.

The struggle i have with water basted markers was always the fact that they'd cause a lot of pilling on the paper D:

If you layer a lot, that can definitely happen. Alcohol markers are better overall for more detailed illustrations and smoother blending. I like water-based since I only do a few light layers and I don't want them to bleed through :)

Another thing that MIGHT help is try to be as light handed as you can and wait for it to dry a bit before adding more!! I hope it helps

Fun fact about whale sharks they are entirely non aggressive towards humans and cant stop swimming otherwise they won’t be able to breathe

Those whale sharks are beautiful. But I have a question Jelarts, how do you/what protection you use to protect the water based marker art, because I’m scared of spilling water or any liquid on my artwork!

You just use the markers as is, you don't need to have water with you. As for painting when you have water you just need to be careful, maybe don't place the water right next to your paper? I don't see how you could realistically paint on something but protect it from getting wet? I dont paint much these days but I usually have more than one surface when I do, and my water jars sit on a small stool next to me rather than next to my painting 🤷🏾‍♀️
