I respect you Mike. There’s a lot of NEW drivers turned guru in 2 yrs. Ridiculous. This is just hustling new folks because it’s easier than running an actual trucking business.

I been got out of cdl hotshot ltl.....after 2yrs.......I been driving tractor trailer 10 years before I started hotshot..its very limited and over priced starting with the class 3,4or 5 truck itself......I'm very mechanically inclined and bought a pre emission freightliner century.....15k cash and figured out what works best for me........knowing what I know now....i never would have gotten into hotshot trucking....that being said i dont regret what i learned doing hotshot.....I'm making more net income easier and im at home everynight..but I'm realizing my skills as a mechanic working on my own semi truck....I can make more money working on them versus driving them easily......... you must evolve and make changes to your business model learning what works and move in that direction.....everything ain't for everybody.......

@@rodneymurphy3388 I hear ya. I have a brother that wants to work with me. I had him train with a company. He’s in a semi doing well. I actually enjoy my hotshot. I’ve built relationships with a few shippers close to home. I run east loads at 3.40 to 4 a mile. Rarely something over 10k lbs. I’m home every weekend. Sometimes I just go out and come right back and do a few local runs. I’ve gotten a little picky on loads and I say no a lot more to brokers. Maintenance isn’t cheap so I don’t run cheap. But again I have the relationships that allow me to say no to 2.00 loads.

Respect 🫡 Love the content, my dad and I are trying to start up our own hotshot company. You’re the only youtuber that keeps it real about the industry. One thing I could suggest is starting a podcast? And talk about your experience and hosts other truckers. Maybe you’d enjoy that. Keep it up bud

In case you did not see this in the other video... You are one of my favorite YT video producers. You tell it like it is and your are intelligent and articulate. Keep up the great work! : ) Please make more videos and help us navigate this market! Especially now, since Yellow let hundreds of truckers back in the market for jobs. WOW, if you are leaving trucking as a driver, I'm not sure I want to put good money after bad. Maybe I need to look in another direction, at least until the economy gets better, if it ever does.

So is still worth it start hotshot? I have a CDL 2.5 years with the license I own a dump truck three axel here in Miami but everything is too expensive I’m trying to sell everything and go up north I have money save to start jut trying to do my research I know the industry is slow every where but here is also slow and way too expensive .

@@mikelopez4148no bro I just sold my Dump truck I’m starting with Estes express line local here in Miami to cover my expenses and save some more money because I want to purchase my truck and trailer cash I have the money to do it but I don’t have it all to cover insurance and all the equipment you need but I will 👍

I’m about to leave a great job and pay to do hotshot at the end of the month, I’m terrified on making the jump, so far my authority is 20 days old, I’m only waiting until the end of the month to cook my authority time some more… do you think I’ll be able to find constint loads with about 55 day old authority?? Any advice would be great. Love the channel

Certain brokerages have authority timeframes they mandate before you can fill out a carrier packet. Do a google search for the list of brokerages for new authorities. Some of the most popular are TQL, Uberfreight, JB Hunt to name a few. If you need a good dispatcher lmk!

Man keep your job, do hotshot part time. Do not rely on it full time! Take local loads when you can, to get a quick check. Trucking has a lot of bs that you don’t see until your actual out there booking loads

I've been running non cdl hotshot for 1 year with a 30 foot big tex trailer. You have stated in videos you really did not see a big increase when you went cdl. So looking back would you have gone the cdl hotshot route. I recently bought a 3500 and when i connect that to my trailer it puts me in the cdl arena. Some have told me to just get a new trailer and derate it to stay in the non cdl side of hotshot. I would appreciate your opinion or advise on this matter since you actually went through it.

I’d either DERATE the trailer or look into trading it out for a 40 foot trailer. That 40 feet will give you WAY more availability Non CDL or CDL

@@entremike Well then it's settled then as your the 5th person to say that almost word for word. I have a line on a 40 foot trailer dealer said he would do trade and I would be into new one for about 7k. Looks like i will be leveling up. Thank you for your advise on this.
