In this video, I discuss the reasons why I'm leaving Stanford after just one quarter. I talk about what has always motivated me, and what continues to motivate me moving forward. This is just an honest discussion as to what I believe in and why I chose the path that I did: internships to research to startups. I reiterate some of my points from my Stanford Quarter in Review video where I talked about the good, the bad, and the ugly in regards to my first ever quarter at Stanford. I'm a graduate student here studying Aerospace Engineering, and this whole quarter was virtual. I talked about how I got finessed, how I'm feeling mentally with everything going on, and just overall review this experience. I also talked about the drawbacks of online classes and what that does to someones mental well being.

0:20 kyphosis and poor neck posture will bite you in the back later in life man, so I recommend practising maintaining good posture and doing strengthening exercises for neck and back

This was really important to me to watch. I recently made the unorthodox choice to switch out of engineering into computer science, and I was already feeling preemptive fomo. Thanks for reminding me to pursue my passion and focus on the right things! Big fan.

Yeah I am feeling the same way. I am taking some pretty critical classes for my degree and we are online. I don't really have the option to pause my studies so I just have to make the best out of the situation. My drive and motivation this semester is not high at all, I don't get as much of a thrill learning as I used to.

I know this isn't much, but I wish you the best pushing through. I'm sorry that you can't withdraw for a moment, but if it this can help, don't give the learning part a lot of weight if your heart isn't in it yet - like still do it, but if there's a paper that takes five hours, schedule 1 hour somewhere to just do something completely unrelated for fun? Like sometimes when I'm stressed I just pace outside for 15 minutes and it helps me feel better. Nature's just really cool ;-; You deserve a break, and help if you need it - contact anyone you know if they could help ease this load on you (ie. being people to talk to, discuss credits/reducing workload, etc.), and I hope you know you're still amazing for doing this degree. KJ you have accomplished a lot in a short period of time, your start ups with the drones are fantastic, and graduating a school like M I T with a degree in Aerospace Engineering is no easy task, and at 22 years of age, you have your whole life ahead of you, just one day a time. So yeah, you made just need some time off from Sandford, you proven you can accomplish.

@@adequatequality the smart phone without the keypad was an innovative idea which hadn't been in the market yet. But now, iPhones keep coming but the differences between the previous one and the next are very little. In my opinion, Steve Jobs being there was one of the key reasons for our smart phones to exist today. Well obviously if not him someone later would've thought of such an idea (but he did it earlier). My point is that his presence made a difference unlike a normal employee who could easily be replaced by another one. This response was in context to the video and the original comment.

As a young engineer my input is to remember that sometimes things take time. Don’t ruin your blessings by being to impatient. As brilliant as Steve job was it even took him decades to change the world & the same thing can be said of Elon overnight success and respect just isn’t possible. But great video and I wish you much success.

I used to try to be valuable, but it's difficult to be valuable when there are millions of others out there who can do the same things I can just as good or better. It turned out that no matter how valuable I would try to make myself, I was unwanted.

Why were you paying full tuition at Stanford? I thought STEM PhD programs are always fully funded by your advisor or university.

Stanford is one of the schools that gives very little financial aid. For a Masters, they sometimes pay 1 of 2 years, never 2. I dis grad school at MIT, they covered in full. All other tops grad schools I got into offered full rides as well, which is pretty standard if you plan to research! Stanford is super frugal though, which is why I chose MIT over Stanford!

Looks like studying at Stanford enables the "Easy Mode" for leaving University, founding companies, finding venture capital, etc. I think there is far more struggle in other places.

Awesome how you guys are pushing for FDA approval of drone delivery. Besides the non-human factor delivery system it decreases fuel consumption in the long run and has a positive impact on the environment
