Why I'm Returning The KUIU Divide 2000

I was looking for a day pack for scouting, early season saddle hunting, and general all purpose traveling. I came across the KUIU Divide 2000 and it seemed to meet all my needs. I bought the pack and then quickly learned it was not for me. This video explains why I’m returning the KUIU Divide 2000 and buying a different backpack for hunting.

I just got the Venture Divide 2000 and it felt like the waistbelt was to high. What I did notice is the shoulder straps are adjustable and I raised the straps about 1.2" and that in effect did 2 things. First it lowered the waistbelt to a more comfortable position (I am 6' tall) and it moved the shoulder straps away from my neck about 1 inch more from my neck on each side. There was no documentation with my pack (Kuiu are you listening and reading this?) that tells the user how to make these adjustments. I loaded it with 33 lbs and went on a 3 mile walk. The pack is very comfortable and I really like the multiple cavities for storing items.

Thanks for watching and commenting, I did know the straps were adjustable to maxed them out. It helped some but was still too high in the waist belt for my liking. I got another pack from a different company and the waist belt is just above my belt line where this pack was more around the belly button line.

Thanks for the review. Spot on with the short comings of this pack. I have the divide 1500 but have the same issues. Narrow shoulder straps and waist belt too high. Since I only run it on day trips while blacktail hunting in the fall I have dealt with them. I run a MR Pintler when elk and bear hunting where I carry more gear and may need to haul a load.

I ended up getting another pack from Spika which was a lot better and also cheaper. The Kuiu was a sweet looking pack just not what I needed.

I found no issues with my divide 1500. Used heaps for day hikes and hunts. I want to get the 2000 now to see if it has them probs. I love there design.

I had the exact same issue with go ruck. It destroyed the skin on my neck.

Digging into my neck is the same reason why I'm returning mine. Also one shoulder strap is a half inch wider than the other from top to bottom. We measured the circumference all the way down. Poor quality control. Harnesses & belt are overkill for the size pack that it is. Way too much padding just a Carrie under 30 lb.

It’s difficult to beat the pop up 38 by Mystery Ranch. Hauls a load when you get lucky, is light on your back in the heat of early season and while scouting. Currently running a EXO K3 2200 as my day pack and I swap out to the 4800 bag for 5-7 day hunts. The MR Pintler is a great weekend hunting pack for walking in and spending a night, it’s got multiple internal pockets if one likes that for organizing.

EXO is a sweet pack system. I was super close last year to buying one. I decided to buy something a little cheaper. If I was elk hunting or doing more remote multi day hunting, I would’ve.

Well, I ordered one just now. I’m 6’1 and clock in much heavier than you, so let’s see if it kills me at the neck. I have a thick neck.

@@SufferingOutdoors should arrive in a few days. I intend to use it as a day pack on hikes with my camera gear (incl. tripod) and water, etc., but I hate dedicated camera bags. I saw this bag and it seems to overlap with my intentions, so yeah. I’ll let you know what happens!

The 3000 is a better fit for us tall guys. Plus more room for our bigger clothing layers.

@@RayGrau Oh goodness! I apologize. So, I kept the pack. It is quite comfortable. I hiked through Oregon and Washington with it and had no problems with my camera gear. I will say that it is a little less deep as other packs. I typically like to use a peak design medium camera cube, but it simply could not fit. I like the pack more than the cube, so I had to switch to a smaller cube and juggle stuff within the pack. I know I will figure out a solution sometime for that, but yeah, comfortable, stuck with me and fit my neck and body profile great.

Bloody hell , why is it when you order something when you see good reviews. Then you come across something like this , DAM IT!!! I have not even got it in the mail and now I'm pissed off...

I will , its like anything though hey. you hear good and bad. Only way is to find out , like ya said. May fit me better and if not , def will fit the misses , she can have it. @@SufferingOutdoors
