In this video, I will give you my reasons for why I moved to Valencia, Spain (at least for now). In my opinion, this is one of the most underrated cities in Europe. I was truly surprised to discover so many things that made this place a perfect spot for me to create and explore. I hope I was able to show you at least a glimpse of its beauty!

As an American and Spaniard (by birth) the single biggest advantage that Spain has to offer is its healthcare system. I believe Spain allocates 10% of its total budget to it while the US would rather allocate resources elsewhere. For a retiree this is super important. I assure you that if you do a goo vid about this you will get a ton of volume. Keep up the good work!

I spent 6 months in Valencia as part of my university degree. I really enjoyed being there. I've been back since for visits. My daughter spent almost a year to do research on her doctorate and she loved it too. Viva Valencia

yo tambien soy de los ángeles con ganas de irme a Australia o a Espana, pero yo soy Espanol, es que si te llevamos la basura que hay aqui. Estan organizados, robando negocios, casas, coches, donde soros pone los que mandan, y la policía no puede hacer nada, los caza y los tiene que soltar, todo por Soros, y soros tambien esta en Espana, el que puso Sanchez.

I used to live there for 2-3 years, when I was very young 18-19-20 and came back to the states , now older I want to go live there for good , it’s a beautiful city and safe city

@@anitamendez116 It really depends since there are more and less expensive zones to live in Valencia, nowadays you can rent a decent apartment for about 700$, regular monthly buys (food and necessary goods) are about 300-400$ per person and about 200$ in bills each month, I would say that the average cost to live is around 1000$-1200$ per person if you live in a decent area, it can be a bit less or much more expensive depending on your life style, I hope that helps you a bit!

I lived in Valencia 1984-1985 for part of my degree. Beautiful city, such happy memories: paella, arros al forn, horxata amb fartons, agua de Valencia in the old Carme district, Fallas, going to the beach at El Saler. I lived in Benimaclet, Calle Poeta Altet just off Primat Reig.

@@anonimato1987 There is a bar in the Carme called Christopher Lee on Calle Pinzon just off Calle Quart. Back in 1984/85 they made the best Agua de Valencia in the city. That bar is still there today and I hope they still make the best Agua de Valencia.

I think I could be happy in Valencia if there were enough employment, but as things stand, Spain is headed for a worse economic crisis than I have seen here in 19 years.

Great channel Antoanette. I've lived in LA for 30 years (WeHo now), and you're videos have inspired me to make the move to the Valencia area. LA has devolved into an expensive cesspool with a huge homeless problem, the worst Healthcare system I've ever seen (I'm originally from Scotland so have the UK as a comparison) and insane traffic. Can't wait to make the move.

I'm from Valencia, now living in the Uk, and I am so homesick....really missing muy Valencia, the weather, the sun, the clear blue Sky...So proud of the city I have grown! I also lived in Barcelona for 4 years and yes, it's an amazing city in terms of architecture and leisure (weather is also so similar to Valencia's), but so overcrowded! I'm sure I'll be going back to my land sooner than later. For those who didn't know, we have a Word for Valencia which is "La Terreta" and means basically "Little Land" as an afective way to name our loved city! 💕✨🧨🥘🍊🔥

En Cantabria decimos La tierruca por la provincia. Visité casi finalizado por fuera El museo de las Ciencias, el Parque del Turia, el centro con la catedral, y el Palacio xel Marqués de Dos Aguas. En la Malvarrosa la casa de Sorolla pues ya conocía la otra en Madrid. Muy bonita ciudad y gente muy amable y distinta a los del norte. Un grato recuerdo.

I'm from LA. I now live in Spain, but in the Canary Islands. It was the best decision I made. I plan to visit Valencia because it's where my grandmother was from and one of the places I have her to visit. Great video!

@@denniszenanywhere Sadly we have an extremely high unemployment rate. However, for some jobs (higher education in careers like computer science, medicine…) there’s always room for you! Also I think it should be pretty easy to find jobs as an English teacher

@@javigarcia-ripoll6578 I'm polishing my web dev and UX design skills to get a job there. I think it's hard to get these jobs too in the US. It just looks like the US has low unemployment rate but based on a NY Times report, many have actually given up searching and are just doing gig work, now called the gig economy, where every work is contract based. I had that experience in northern CA and in LA, plus in NY. So it seems like employment in the US is ok but only on a surface level. I wonder if Spain protects full-time employees. I googled this and didn't find anything substantial about employment laws there or maybe they were in Spanish.

Lived there for 90 days and traveled from there to many locations . Loved the city and the people there still have friends in the city. Lived in Sevilla for 6 years and love both places.

This is the best video I’ve seen about Valencia! I haven’t seen much of the city aside from the beach areas, but I know from what I’ve read that it’s a very intriguing city. Currently living in Vigo, a similarly underrated city - even in its own autonomous community, Vigo doesn’t get the attention that Santiago and A Coruña do. Will be going over to Barcelona this June, so I hope to make it down to Valencia on the same trip! Thanks for a great video, I subscribed. 😍

Not only is Vigo underestimated, all of Galicia is. The Rías Baixas are incredible and the Rías Altas are impressive, the Sil canyons are fascinating. Is beautiful.

@@ANTOANETTA originally Seattle then up and down the West Coast, living in the SF Bay Area for about 15 years. Met my wife there and moved to the Austin area in '94. La Drova is a quiet little residential community between two mountains and 20 minutes from the beach. It's popular with bicyclists and there are a lot of hiking trails here. :)

I was just in Valencia visiting my sister. My family is from A Coruña but I love Valencia. the neighborhood of del Carmen is beautiful! So many people ask me about Madrid and Barcelona, but I stay away from them because they remind me of NYC too crowded.

Para los gringos del USA el racismo español era demasiado flojo y querían tener un racismo más violento,y los nazis de Alemania querían un nivel de racismo más fuerte que los estoudinienses. ?Como va los partidos España 2000 y El Vox?

W e chose Guatemala formits closenness to the USA...a beautiful colonial Spanish town Antigua, the former Spanish Colonial capital of central America....wishe I could live TWO,places!

Had to move to Sagunto because Valencia was too LOUD 😄😄😄😄😄😋 Beautiful city, wonderful people and very safe. You should checkout the castle at Sagunto, it's extremely impressive and that's coming from a Welshman. Great video.

Santiago Calatrava es el autor de muchas obras de ese estilo en el mundo. Por ejemplo el hizo el Oculus, Intercambiador de transportes del World Trade Center en la denominada Zona Cero en Nueva York. I live in the US, and I would like to retire to Valencia using a non-lucrative visa. Since I can’t work due to the visa, I would be living off my dividends from my stock market investments, 401k, SS, and my Roth IRA. For the life of me, I can’t find anything clear on what my taxes would be like! (Ie. income tax, local tax..etc) I plan on renting, and not buying. Making a video about this would be VERYYY helpful I’m sure to a lot of people!

Great! I might do another video maybe an interview with a tax attorney or an accountant as I am not very competent on taxes 😊 As far as I know if you make your money outside Spain you pay something very small but you need to check of course.

Wonderful video. I lived in Barcelona for a few years, now living in the Palm Springs, and will be exploring Valencia this summer. I have always been intrigued with Valencia and I am looking forward to my visit. An update on your thoughts of the city as you spend more time there would be great.

Valencia is not the capital of design 2022 because of the Santiago calatrava's building, not at all, it is because the great amount of good valencian designers and the work they've done throw the last 20 years, we have professional design learning places (also in jewelry design in the EASD Valencia) if you are interested, and as you were saying, it is because our great, contrasting and creative environment that is so underrated, thank you for giving visibility to our beautiful and constantly improving city!

Your videos are amazing and creatively done. Great camera work, editing, story telling, informative and inspiring. I love Valencia.I was there for a few days and wished I stayed longer. I live in LA as a video editor. The cost of living is mostly unaffordable in LA. The people in Spain are very friendly :). I made some great friends in Valencia and Calpe. I wouldn't mind living in Spain.

JMG pero si ves el video para practicar tu ingles vas a imitar su acento y hablaras ingles como un europeo del Este porque ella es de Sofia Bulgaria. . Yo hablo espanol e ingles y vivo en Miami pero adoro a Espana y pienso ir en Abril a Sevilla y Madrid pero creo que tambien ire a Valencia. Quisiera irme a vivir alla si no fuera porque mi unico hijo vive en Miami y no lo pudiera dejar, pero me fascina la arquitectura de Valencia y lo barato que de los apartamentos claro comparados con Miami.

@@Claudette68 yo debido a mi trabajo hablo las 8 horas en inglés con personas de toda Europa (RU, Holanda, Bélgica...) pero mi acento está definido y es español (hablando inglés). Vivir en España es maravilloso, pero en temas de trabajo la cosa está complicada. Si vienes a Valencia no te arrepentirás. Sevilla es mi ciudad natal, es muy bonita pero no vayas en verano porque el calor es extremo. Puedes ir desde Sevilla a Madrid y desde Madrid a Valencia en tren de alta velocidad (unas 3 horas por trayecto). Las oportunidades laborales en EEUU son inmensamente más elevadas que en España, pero aquí se vive más tranquilo, hay mucha seguridad, sanidad universal y otras cosas bastante buenas. Ven, no te arrepentirás. Si vives en España vivirás con una calidad de vida muy alta, pero es casi imposible que puedas hacerte rico aquí porque el mercado laboral es paupérrimo. Un abrazo

I remember those trees with the fat lower trunk from where I used to surf in Costa Rica on the point at Pavones - I think they were called Sabre trees - from knowledge or taste ? don't know. Great video - you have shown Valencia very well - , and would now like to visit. I moved to Almunecar in Andalusia on on the Costa Tropical a few years ago.

@@ANTOANETTA Hi Antoanetta - I looked them up and in fact they are called CEIBA trees - I thought it was from Spanish 'Sabor' meaning knowledge maybe, as the local Baruca tribe thought of them as the most special/sacred tree - so they are good place to sit and relax !! I love Andalusia - the people most of all, (I am from the UK but lived in Australia for many years) who are so friendly and courteous. If the sea was a bit warmer (its about 15 degrees at the moment) it would be perfect. I love to watch your inspiring and useful videos - keep them coming !
