Deciding between the CRNA route and the Nurse Practitioner route can be difficult and may cross a lot of nurses' minds who are thinking about going into an advanced nursing practice role. In this video, I tell you my reasons in why I chose to go to CRNA school and the differences between the two professions.

my dream is to be a CRNA since i was 16 and worked a summer at an anesthesia company. i am abobut to graduate with my bsn in december but idk if i am smart enough to be a CRNA. idk i f i can handle that amount of stress while having to study. its VERY scary for me. im also 29 and i want to live my life...aand not be in school forever, i am so burnt out right now. i just don't know how people are doing it.....

Congratulations on finishing soon! CRNA school is definitely a commitment and more so that you need the motivation and disciple than just being smart. It will take up years of your life but it’s up to you if it’s really your passion! Take time to relax after you graduate and really enjoy life🫶🏼 take it easy on yourself and you will figure out what you wanna do down the road!

Frustration is a very positive sign. It means that the solution to your problem is within range, but what you're currently doing isn't working, and you need to change your approach in order to achieve your goal.

I'm jealous. I live in Texas, so a lot of things NPs can do in many states, they can't do here! NPs don't have as much autonomy and I don't believe they can open their own clinics. ☹️ I'm getting my ADN right now and am so torn between going the ABSN route and applying for CRNA, or going from ADN to FNP.

Hi, I was wondering when you prepare the medications for the patient do you check the mars like when you are an rn ? Is there someone else that checks the medication to like reduce making an error?
@SRNAPaul
@SRNAPaul 26 күн бұрын
Hi, we have to do the checks ourselves. Verify correct patient, drug, dose etc. I usually triple check my med before drawing them up and giving them to the patient. But no, there isn’t another person that checks so anesthesia providers have to be extra vigilant with medication administration.

You are living my dream! I’m so jealous & happy for you. I’m an LPN and will be an RN by next Dec. I have been very fascinated in anesthesia and aspire to become a CRNA. The only problem is my fiancé & I have had the baby fever for a while and want to start a family within the next couple of years. We are 25. I always said I want to be 100% done with school before having kids. If I pursue this career, I’ll be done with school when I’m 30-31 and would have to wait to start a family until that age. I know that’s not old to have kids but we wanted them in the nearer future. Ugh do you have any advice about pursuing a career or a family? 🫤 I have also seen CAAs, which is a 2 year program and heard they make about the same amount of money as CRNAs do but for a year less of school (& debt). That may be better for me if I want to have kids a little sooner. Do you have any opinions on CAAs? Thank you for any advice 💜💜
@SRNAPaul
@SRNAPaul 2 ай бұрын
Hi Brooke, thank you so much! Your concerns are very valid and CAA is an option. I have seen all types of students (single moms, parents, divorced during the program, having kids IN the program, single, married, waiting to have kids) so it's hard to give advice bc everyone's situation is very unique! I would say that you need all the support that you can get throughout any anesthesia program. Less stressors you have, the better. As far as CAAs, it is a very controversial topic in the anesthesia world. There are pros and cons to being a CAA. The length of the program is the biggest pro but you will be limited to the states that you can practice in. CAAs also work under anesthesiologists, meanwhile CRNAs can practice in more states and independently in certain states. There are many factors to consider! I hope that helps and all I can say is that the job is amazing and the schooling is worth it ♥

When you’re editing, you don’t have to make so many cuts between words just fyi. You could literally just upload the full talking head format video and save yourself a lot of time cutting footage. It would be nearly identical quality video.
