I really appreciate your guys' stories for why you quit competing. I think we see you everyday doing crazy stunts and don't know why you stopped. So thank you for the explanation and fun videos!

As someone who was forced to quit from an injury (landing badly out of a big vault and a series of compression fractures literally from my knees to the vertebrae in my neck) which left me with significant spine and nerve issues for more years than I was competing... I get it. I was terrified that I would never walk again after numerous surgeries, and I was broken hearted to give up something I loved and had been doing since I was 5, but I was also thankful that (by a whisker) it wasn't so much worse. I admire you all so much for knowing your limits yet still sticking to the fitness and fun side of the sport, and sharing it with us ❤‍🔥❤‍🔥

My son just quit....He was never sure he wanted to continue in college anyway. He was working on some big upgrades this past season when he landed short on a full out on floor. He didn’t injure himself physically but his freeze response kicked in to where he lost double flipping and double+ twisting skills on floor, lost his kaz full on vault and all of his dismounts. He had to relearn his skills but was never able to do his full twisting double off high bar or rings. His clean gymnastics got him to Nationals and named to region team where they won region team at nationals. He got his redemption and quit on a high note.

Just blew out multiple discs in my back in the middle of a circus show.. nearly same injury, not quite as violent as yours though 😵😵 I did THE SAME THING right after, all I could do was curl up in a ball while my back seized up Props for staying active after that brother!!

Glad you guys are still capable of doing the sport you love even if just for the fun. Sports at a high level just is not healthy. Keep up the good energy!

Bad injury from under rotated vault on my neck - twice - destroying my back and neck. Continue gymnastics and I’d be in a wheelchair or worse before 18. Surprisingly hard choice, but best choice for being mobile and living

So this is probably silly question to both u and Nile... Did u both have PTSD (serious not in jokey way) in getting back to the high bar and in general in case injury happened again and if so how long did it take for you to overcome the anxiety to were u both are today

Ahhhh... Ash did one of the versions of the famous SCORPION's... dammmnnn those hurt.... Sometimes you just move on and get on with it.... other times ... its a sign from god to move on and get on with it........ another way. Kudo's to ya Ash. Oh.. and duck dives... fun.. Competed many years in 80's with an punch front 1 3/4 roll out. Aka- front flip 1 /1/2 into a dive in the water.. ... but rotate little more .. cause well the ground ain't water... and the sky is not the limit.. THE GROUND IS!!

Hi Ash. Please take this with the best of intentions as I talk about weight. This is super random, but I was wondering if you could make a video for gymnasts like ourselves who are heavier than they generally expect people using the equipment to be. Any advice for settings, personal equipment, gym equipment, etc. that have helped you continue to train despite gyms not being set up for folks like us - who are way more like most people!!! I would love to see you help younger gymnasts understand their bodies and how they can/should ask for more springs in springboards, or tighter bars, etc. Also curious if you know of any brands for leotards etc. that carry sizes for adults who would wear a mens L-3XL?

Your retelling of your injury was HARROWING, I was watching with my hands over my mouth like a concerned grandma just hearing the story 😬 glad you're all okay!

I competed for 10 years and have coached for over 11 years (mostly team coaching). One of the girls gym meets I was coaching at was stopped because the gym next to us had a major accident (where the boys competition was). The medics had to come through our gym in order to get the boy out because they had to take the high bar with them... The boy was injured by something called "grip lock". This occurs when the grips get so stretched out that the top of the grip (at the fingers) and the bottom of the grip (the leather before the wrist band) touch and then lock together. This causes the hand to no longer rotate. HOWEVER, the boy kept rotating and had his arm completely wrapped around the bar. I believe he ended up losing the arm. keeping track of equipment is a huge safety concern for gymnast. Working with worn out grips is very dangerous. Many gymnasts are comfortable with theirs and will put off replacing them, but the coach needs to be sure that proper grip standards are kept, and an extra pair is available for hen the old ones wear out.

Spot on Ash, I thought I was actually listening to Christina Perri. ; ) Seriously tho, I’m glad you can use your legs, it can be a very dangerous sport. I wouldn’t say you guys “quit” gymnastics though, you just “retired” from competition.🤍
