It took me a while, but I found an ADHD medication that works for me after I had to quit Ritalin and Vyvanse for very unpleasant reasons. Also learned a lot about stimulants and how they can help me in my day to day life.
Its called "D-L-Amphetamine" with the main ingredient "Amphetamine-Sulfate". It seems to be very rare in Germany and there is little to no information about it online. Will keep you updated :)

For those curious, D-L-Amphetamine is the OG amphetamine, first synthesized in 1887. There are two enantiomers of amphetamine - D-amphetamine (stronger) and L-amphetamine (weaker). Adderall is a 3:1 ratio of D-amphetamine to L-amphetamine (hence why its generic form is labeled "D-Amphetamine salt combo"). Dexedrine is just D-amphetamine.

Kidneys and Arrythemia were ignored in me because doctors do not have the knowledge needed for stimulants. My EGFR level is lower than I would want. I stopped meds after 3 months. Stimulants can make kidneys worse. I can not believe that drugs like this are recommended for people like me. Yet I get told it's fine. I did 20 mg of Vyvanse and later the split. I became irritable in exchange for about 2 hours of quiet and focus and a huge crash after around 3 pm. Your day in the life video (my first one with your channel). Was so validating. I felt like my life is not out of the the ordinary. It is not just me. My gym mornings and early morning walks are my med for focus now. You really are a great videographer. I tried Straterra too because my heart, and it also gets irregular but not often. No difference. Moving homes will help to see knew possibilities. But you will go insane looking for the kitchen drawer with the cutlery for at least 5 months. Changing apartments did that to me. In Ontario, Canada you can't find a psychiatrist, and I gave up. No meds. Naturopath is my new direction.She has ADHD too. Traditional Chinese Medicine believes ADHD is a kidney "congestion: issue, so if she doesn't help enough, I am going to go to go there. Besides, kidneys and anxiety are also related in TCM. Maybe do both simultaneously.i think ADHD should come with a cleaning lady. I am not dirty but need an emotional boost every 2 weeks. Clean home feels good to me. I can think better. I wish they prescribed cleaning staff, trainers, organizers, and coaches for ADHD. 😊

Thank you for sharing your medication journey! I've read a few books about ADHD and all of them point to the fact that there are many medications and all of them deal with different aspects of ADHD. Also our bodies react differently to medication and it is a trial and error journey. Keep up the good work!!!

Thank you so much for sharing your journey! I am 45 years old with severe ADHD, diagnosed when i was 14 and just now about to start with medication, due to the stigmas of ADHD medication my father as well as myself did not want me to be on it so I learned to manage with it as best I could... I have the same hopeful expectations as you did, I have been listening to you and others and I am very aware to tiptoe into this new process. However, I know this will be life-changing!.... @smallcatbigmeow First I apologize for the run on story lol i use talk to text primarily as i HATE writing and typing 😁 Well, it has been 3 and a half months now taking Adderall and.... yeah the first time was like OMG!!! The noise was gone, well there is still a million things going around in my head however it quiets them, I guess I just don't pay attention to them as much? At first, 10mg was crazy feeling, not used to all that energy at once! I was able to focus and get things done, the to-do list that I have been adding to forever suddenly got done in days😃 However it all lost its luster as quickly as it came, so I went to 20mg a day, and it worked better, the downside I noticed was loss of sleep and appetite. Again it wore off within a few weeks, so we jumped to 40mg 20 twice a day, and it definitely gave me the focus!!! However it is on whatever catches my attention, I start computer work and look down, an hour later I've vacuumed, mopped, etc. Done everything but what I needed to. I had NO appetite, I drink several boost supplement shakes a day and ate when forced by my wife. I lost almost 20 pounds in under 2 months, not to mention sleep. Now for the last month'ish I take 20mg a day 3 or 4 days a week, and 40mg only if I have a long busy day (once or twice a week) and none on the weekend's. And now I eat fine sleep great and no overwhelming head noise! I know eventually it will lose effect and sure there are a few different ADHD medications but after seeing and feeling the side effects and weighing the pros and con's, there are way more con's! I have learned to manage my symptoms for 45 year's, I use marijuana to help me focus. Sounds like an oxymoron, when I was diagnosed with ADHD back in 1994 the doctor wanted to prescribe me Ritalin. That's when we went to see a Native American holistic healer, who after reading my case study reached in his desk and handed me a joint, telling me to smoke before I do my homework. It actually slows and quiets my brain down enough to where I can think and focus. I have used marijuana daily from age 14. I am HIGHLY functional (pun intended) 😂 Varsity Football, State Soccer, State Wrestling, State Swimteam, lead role in the annual city play my junior and senior year, runner-up as businessman of the year in 2004 in Biz magazine Scottsdale Arizona, ALSO been a daily drinker for over 25 years, battling alcoholism, jail, prison, 2 1/2 years of my life incarcerated, hundreds of thousands of dollars given away from alcohol, spent over two and a half years living in "sober living" house's, and with therapy and recovery, I am sober since 12/06/2022 🥰 that's part of the reason I waited to try medication, I was an alcoholic and knew I would abuse it and did not want to become a drug addict too... however addiction is addiction, whether it's drugs alcohol sex gambling its a coping mechanism for past traumas. But now that I've tried it I don't like it, it's just one more thing away from living my natural life. So yeah that's it in a nutshell, I started writing this when I got your reply this afternoon in the meantime I have taken my Jeep to the hardware store got a new battery for it made dinner ate dinner fed my guinea pigs all while contemplating on what to write you LOL my KZfaq is my guinea pig channel I have posted almost 90 videos in the last few months since I started it #ADHD 🤣🤣🤣

Thank for making this informative video. I am seeking help for my adhd and depression, but I am worried that some of the medications will increase my anxiety, because sometimes I cant even handle a coffee. It is incredibly difficult to keep a full-time job for more than a month or two months. I just cant focus when I need to at work, which makes people who have to deal with me increasingly more upset. They think I am doing mistakes on purpose and I just have to get "better", but it is not in my control, emotional stress decreases my attention even more, rarely I can go full day without spacing out and losing track of what I was about to do... Then I get treated from co-workers like I am "troublemaker", "dont care about the job", "stupid cant learn from previous mistakes", or even "drunk or on drugs". I just quickly lose my cool with such people mistreating me and I get depressed and quit the job. It is just a cursed cycle for me. Hopefully I can not only find a correct medication, but also find a place where people are willing to listen and be patient with me. Usually they dont take into account any mental disorders, better to not mention anything at all. Damn it is a life-long struggle.. in this society that dont accept people like us, even though we do have qualities that could be very valuable and hard to find.....

I so relate to this. I ended up working for myself because I always felt like I was taken advantage of and/or mistreated by past coworkers/bosses. Espcially with chronic health issues, I was basically always "the weakest link." The problem with working for yourself with ADHD is it can be very hard to even start working and if I get stuck I completely lose my focus and motivation and it's very frustrating. I tried Adderall a while ago and it caused random vomiting which sucked but I think it was because of an undiagnosed (at the time) thyroid issue that was already causing nausea (but it also caused high blood pressure and heart flutters for me). Ironically, since my thyroid has gotten back in the green my ADHD has gotten so much worse. I'm seeking out treatment again. I'm going to try concerta as soon as insurance will stop with the needless hoops. I'm excited but a bit nervous. This gives me hope and motivation to keep trying to find the right fit. What he said about just really needing that support really hit the nail on the head for me.

I'll have to say that I went through almost the same experience as you observed about you. I only experimented venvanse, here in Brazil we only have 3 dosages: 30mg, 50mg and 70mg and so, I started with 30mg, try it for 3 months, programmed in my mind as a minimum time, but started to feel a lot of arrhythmia like you described and also some abdominal pain, with bleed scapes like I was on the start of my period, but all the 3 times, every month, this was after pain and far away from my period, that always came normal, in the exactly time, every month. So, I quit and now, using nothing, I'm experimenting some melt downs in my humor, feeling like withdrawal, symptoms of abstinence. just like you've said, I'm trying to adapt my environment to fit me and my routine to survive with my adhd. Also thinking about changing my career and location, but in my own time and capacities.

Hi thank you for your story. I have been struggling with ADD for 30 years. I am unable to take stimulants due to condition terrets. This causes ticks which get worse with stimulants most these symtoms have gone away mostly. But been on Straterra for 20 years and have mixed feeling and results. It handles it differntly by slowing brain down so you can focus better. It does do this but makes you feel slow and tired too. I am thinking about the trying new Qelbree a brand new medicine. But I have done research and discovered that the issue with ADD and brain is production of Dopamine. So I have been taking L-Tyrosine which helps bode make more dopamine. Choline is another supplement that helps neurotransmitters. These both definitely give me a good boost almost like a stimulant, good focus.

D-L-Amphetamine I can only assume stands for Dextro and Levo Amphetamine. I find it very strange you had such a bad reaction to Vyvanse, considering it's metabolized into dextro-amphetamine, and it takes time for enzymes to break down Vyvanse into Amphetamine, which should make the come up/down less sharp, thats also why Vyvanse has such a long duration of action. I'd be curious to know the dose of your current medication (D-L-Amphetamine). Regardless, pharmacology is really not understood at all, and anyone who says otherwise is either naive, indoctrinated or attempting to make money. Just my two cents.

I reckon his vyvanse dose was too low and his heart palpitations were caused by anxiety rather than the medication. If he tried a higher dose of vyvanse it probably would have relaxed him as he obviously needs a higher level of dopamine to treat his mental issues

I was on Rit for 8 months up to 60mg in the end, after about six months I started losing all of my emotions, not depressed, not happy, just anhedonia. I’m now titrating on Vyvanse, 30mg atm, and it seems good, focus is better (which was the only positive I kept with Ritalin) but with Vyvanse I find it much less effort to resist impulsive behaviour, etc., and feel feelings again (good and bad, like a normal person haha). Hope your meds work out long term. I don’t think we can get straight amphetamine in Australia, the other option is dexamphetamine, which is what Vyvanse converts to anyway (lisdexamfetamine being a prodrug converted in your body to dex, just like codeine=>morphine by the liver).

Vyvanse and D amphetamine XR are quite similar. You are taking an IR D,L amphetamine. The sulphate salt should not make a difference. It’s either the timing that is making the difference, or the presence of about 25% L amphetamine (which seems to be the most common synthesis ratio, though I’m not sure this is 25-75 or 50-50). You are getting it all at once, which might be allowing your heart to be stimulated for a shorter period, and the dose must be lower overall.

@user-wi3yx3gy2o
@user-wi3yx3gy2o 6 ай бұрын
@@georgeplymale8644 The liver is involved in metabolism of amphetamine base, but the salts dissolve fairly quickly into acid and amphetamine base in the body. So it should not actually really matter which salt is used. There is a big difference between D and L amphetamine, and in the speed at which they are released, and the dose. There is an ADHD medication sweet spot that increases over time, but it is possible to overshoot it at first. Also, there are manufacturing variances (up to around 25% for generics), and people dissolve XR formulations, metabolize Vyvanse into D-amphetamine and metabolize amphetamine base at different rates between individuals and depending on diet time of dose, or day-to day.
@user-wi3yx3gy2o
@user-wi3yx3gy2o 6 ай бұрын
@@georgeplymale8644 I don’t think the salts remain intact long enough to make their way to the liver. Vyvanse breaks down in red blood cells via an enzyme into a D-amphetamine (right turned) methanesulfonic salt, and then into amphetamine base. The amphetamine base is the active molecule. The liver is involved in breaking down amphetamine base. That’s why I said t’s mainly a timing thing (which can be affected by (XR) formulation, the chemistry of Vyvanse (the added Lysine group) or the ratio of D-L (right-left turned) amphetamine (based) is different. XR and Vyvanse have different half-lives, but both are about 2-3 times longer than IR amphetamine. There are pure D amphetamines (i.e. Dexedrine/ D-amphetamine XR) and pure L amphetamines (i.e., Benzedrine) but 25-75 D-L or pure D is the most common, with 50-50 D-L being less common and pure L being rarely prescribed.

- i require 100-120mg of adderall instant release per day if i have a full day. I take 20mg at a time and because of my abnormal metabolism it only lasts around 3 hours per dose (kicks in around 25-30 minutes, so i get about 2.5 hours of actual use per dose). I can sleep fine through adderall and i dont lose my appetite and i have zero side effects from the drug except for the crash when it wears off, but the crash lasts about and hour and its a reminder thay i should get ready my next dose. Ive gone 2 months on Adderall Extended Release as well as Vyvanse 50mg. I would need 2 or 3 50mg Vyvanse to get me through a day but they wont perscribe me that. And Vyvanse did nothing for my ADHD, it made it worse actually but it stabilized my mood and fatigue. Adderall XR worked for my ADHD but the crash is much worse on XR and the problem for me with all the extended release formulas all of them only last about 4 hours tops for me. Again i have an abnormal metabolism or maybe i dont absorbed amphetamine that well, its not been determined why just yet. So its easier to just have a bunch of instant release tablets and take them every 4 hours. NOTE: My ADHD is in the "servere" classification where i cant even properly take care of myself. And i have some rather unpleasent and dangerous "switching" personality disorder where im extremely violent and dangerous. (I am not in control of my body or mind when it happens) so the Stimulants for an unknown reason seems to prevent me from switching. I have an idea why it works but doctors dont want to test anything to find out why. So yeah, i need a lot of the heavy hitting stuff to get through the day. I wish i could just drink a cup of coffee and have it work lol.

Isn't Adderall practically the same substance that this "Berlin guy" in the video takes as a pharmacy-prepared "juice"? It's a pity that Adderall doesn't have a sales permit in the EU. The same applies to Desoxyn (methamphetamine) and Focalin (d-methylphenidate). Europeans should have more options for ADHD medication. I am currently on Elvanse 70mg (US. Vyvanse), but there are quite a few adverse effects, although fewer than with any of the other available options. I have also tried Atomoxetine (Strattera), Bupropion (Voxra/US. Wellbutrin), and even Modafinil (Provigil). The only ADHD medication allowed in Finland that I haven't tried yet is Guanfacine(Intuniv). It could kill two birds with one stone since it's originally a blood pressure medication, and I also have medication for high blood pressure as well...

It is weird that you have no cardiac related symptoms on Amphetamine sulfate vs. ritalin or vyanse. Both are stimulants. The cardiac related symptoms would translate across the various stimulants you use. Unless if your amphetamine dose is quite low compared to ritalin or vyanse. Other than that, some ppl with adhd responds better to different forms of stimulants. Good that this latest form is working for you. Nonetheless, I am still curious as to how you don't have the cardiac symptoms despite taking a stimulant.

I currently take "Attentin" (Dexamfetamin), which works better than vyvanse for me, but unfortunately I have to pay for it myself, which is quite expensive for me as a student. So I hope I can at least get some money back with taxes or something :/

I take 27g concerta, I went for an intense gym session with preworkout 10 hours after after taking it, I don't know if I'm imagining things but does anyone feel something on their heart side, not sore not rapid beats just some weird discomfort?? However benefits wise, it makes me sharp at work, I get massive amounts of work done, However I noticed that I am unable to lift as heavy weights and lost lots of strength in the gym

Straterra killed my anxiety and to me, having no anxiety was terrifying. Low doses of Adderall, ie 5mg IR has worked wonders for me. My doctor told me it's a pediatric dose and that 20mg was reccomended but anything iver 10mg makes me feel like I'm tweaking
@KB-tu4zw
@KB-tu4zw Жыл бұрын
@@tacsquid I am on Straterra now, 5 months into it. During this time did try Adderall IR and Vyvanse. Adderall gave me the clearest head but for such a short time. I never knew you could clean or do laundry without having a ton of thoughts running through your head. My brain might go from a conversation with myself in my head, to conversing with someone else, to a worry about something, to a song for a short time, back to a daydreaming type scenario and on and on. Never stops until I finally fall asleep or those 3 days on Adderall. My B/P creeped up so stopped it. I was also more jittery, felt like I had low blood sugar and ate more not less on it than Straterra. Weird. Tried Vyvanse, started smooth, but after the peak I was irritable as hell! It didn’t clear my head. So now back to Straterra, the Adderall and Vyvanse were short interruptions. You touched on issue I brought up with my doc. I have lost 30 to 40lbs on Straterra. I considered myself to be an emotional eater. It was like my drug. Straterra took the anxiety and feelings of being overwhelmed away. I made better decisions on food. That was the plus HOWEVER it blunted my emotions. So, if no anxiety and stress which kicked in my executive function then things got worse as far as cleaning, organization etc. If I could get the calmness of Straterra with the kick in the gears of executive function like Adderall it would be perfect.

I quit Straterra a month after my post. I knew something was seriously off when my Dad was in the hospital and he was so ill then he started crying over my daughter that has a learning disability.and her future and I could barely get tears. No tear drops. An unmediated me would have fallen completely apart crying. For one it’s my Dad who I have seen cry maybe twice my whole life, he’s so sick and frail looking and it was about my daughter. On the one hand I was able to get through this entire acute medical situation that’s now long term without the pain but it scared me. I knew as my therapist said its not good to go through life without feeling life’s emotions.

Frankly for an adult, based on what little I know, I would start an adult on Vyvanse first, then play with dose, going from 5 on up. If I can’t find an effective dose within the FDA-approved dose range, I’d switch to Adderall and then to a 50-50 L, D amphetamine if needed for the same reason, then I’d consider dropping the dose diwn to the minimum by week and then adding bupropion and failing that in and trying to dail back in Adderal whilst on a high effective dose of bupropion. If everything is fine vis a vis dialing in a minimum effective dose without side effects besides insomnia, but insomnia is an issue, I’d temporarily use a mild OTC prescription sleeping pill to be used as needed or a prescription one if not effective and switch to D amphetamine XR. If everything is fine vis a vis dialing in a minimum effective dose without side effects besides insomnia, but insomnia is still an issue, I’d go to D amphetamine IR 2x/d. If other side effects were coming in despite lack of effectiveness on any of these, or if the lowest effectiveness dose turned out to have side effects, then I’d switch to methylphenidate XR. If that kept you up at night, at the minimum effective dose but non-insomnia side effects were u set control I go to methylphenidate IR 2-3x/d. If insomnia still was a problem at the lowest effective dose or if other side effects came in at or below the lowest effective dose, I’d go to Straterra, then modafinil, bupropion, Guanfacine, clonidine, Effexor XR, savella, cymbalta, quelbree, ozempic, monjsro, and finally 5-10 mg dexogyn 2x/d, trying to fail in a minimum effective dose each time. Fir kids or people with certain conditions or financial constraints, sone of these options are not advised. For kids, you also want to start with methylphedates.
