Anything you do with books in your videos is so relaxing! (The extra bass in your voice at the moment is fun too lol though I hope you are feeling better soon :) ) My 90yr old aunt still watches jeopardy daily and she is sharper than a tac and remembers everything. You definitely embody what she preaches, to never stop learning! Thank you for sharing with us and Happy New Year!

Your voice (especially soft spoken) is like chocolate and I love how you incorporate academia and your own philosophy into your videos. I'm at university at the moment so it's great to fall asleep to something so stimulating.

As a trained historian I totally agree with you: history is appealing because it is the narrative of being human. By studying history we come to know ourselves as a species - our immense capacity for creativity, compassion, and empathy, as well as our capability to inflict pain and suffering. It's all of a piece, and I find it deeply fascinating. Anyway, great work as always with this video.

I actually do like little details like the color of a kings robe, it brings history life. Sometimes those details are actually important, they give signals to the psychology of the person or give hints as to what type of resources were available. The larger narrative is important obviously, but I like detail.

Good video. Soft spoken is your best voice from my perspective but will listen to whatever you choose to do of course. Getting educated by someone who enjoys educating himself and others is hard to find. So, Cheers.

History is amazing! You realize how many drastically different perspectives humanity ha held whether something as petty as streetway greetings or serious as as theology and sexuality (and what is considered petty and what is considered serious, haha). It's also extremely complicated. Things like "the west" and "the east" or "the north" become meaningless and you realize how much emphasis we place in our modern categorization. Why don't more people know about the ERE or the Magyar or the Cuman-Kipchak confederation, for example? Love it. And love that I live in an era where so much of this information is accessible to me.

Just got an idea for a cool vid, as long as you don't mind more space videos haha! You could make a video covering the development of our solar system, like when planets were discovered, and how they were discovered...maybe, what effect it had on astrology. Just a thought! 🙂

I've been in love with history as long as I can remember. I always loved looking into books about Ancient Egypt and other things when I was young, and reading Horrible History books (I dont know if they were a thing in America or not). I found it so fascinating the different ways people used to live and the different methods and customs they used, clothes they wore, etc. Its like reading thousands upon thousands of fascinating stories that really happened. I have never related to people who say they find history boring. Even the history of something like bricks is interesting to me. Its like putting together puzzle pieces of how things evolved and became what they are today. Man I wish time machines were a possible thing so I can go back even for a second just to see how the world used to be (I want to make it clear I would not want to stay there for long though lol) The most frustrating thing about history is we only have some records to go off and we'll never know what really happened. Lost history makes my heart hurt.
