I recommend you to set the texture quality to high or ultra. Its not that demanding and you will have much better visuals. Character Model Limit is the setting you would want to turn to medium or low. Those settings should give you a smooth yet beautiful gameworld. Also make sure to enable dx11.

Wow, that made a noticeable improvement, thanks!

Mounts are actually locked to the path of fire expansion. You can buy the expac, use an 80 boost to one of your toons (its not automatic btw, as you feared in your last video. You can use it, try out the core specs for a profession, try out the different weapons, etc, and just delete the character if you didnt like it, or lock in your choice if you did.) Anyway, boost to 80, start the path of fire story and do it for maybe 15 mins and you get the Raptor mount for free.

For me, since the game doesn't give me one until then, I'm gonna just hoof it on foot until I get there. It's nice to know I could get it though if I get tired of walking!

@@TheFullSpectrum Honestly, if you plan to play the content in order, you will have a much more enjoyable experience doing it without mounts. They're a lot of fun, but they make it too easy to bypass intended gameplay and challenges in the open world, especially in HoT where you have different abilities to help you move around (gliding being the most well-known, but there are others as well, such as using mushrooms to catapult you through the air!) If you ever check out WvW, you can also earn currency in that game mode which allows you to unlock waypoints around the world without walking there on foot, too. And by passing through Asura Gates (swirling purple portals, mostly found in the cities), you can instantly travel to other cities and locations for free. So there are a lot of ways to quickly get from one place to another in Tyria!

If you're in a group event/boss fight, reviving others is common, but a full res takes too much time, so it's better to jump to a waypoint and try to get back to help again if possible. That's why in group events a player might help revive you but as soon as you die they stop and get back to the fight. I hope you continue to enjoy Tyria!

About the Black Lion Chest, the keys can drop from map completion, achievements and Bosses. So keep the chests in the bank :D

The Devs are looking at the new player experience right now. They are adding the missing season 1 dlc (which will be free for all accounts forever) over the next few months (ep 1 added yesterday). But they're also looking at the levelling curve and the current rate that ths personal story is introduced.

Glad to hear it!

Weirdly enough, when the game launched the story was all sequential. The second story mission started at level 2, third at level 4 and so on. Some years back when they reworked the new player experience they packaged them into chapters every 10 levels, which is probably one of the changes most people disagreed with. It's possible they return to the old sequential system with the steam release. Edit: gw2 is definitely the kinda game I'd reinstall on an SSD if you can. My loading times went from over a minute to 10 secs on each zone.

Nice to see so many new players enjoying GW2 so much. It really is a great game for everyone EXCEPT PLAYERS ADDICTED TO VERTICAL GEAR PROGRESSION. Sorry for all the caps, but everyone needs to understand that GW2 is different, and IMHO, vertical gear progression IS an addiction that other game companies use to keep players coming back to their game. I'm not saying it is good or bad, that's for each player to decide for themselves, but vertical gear progression and subscription fees for me, make that type of game seem like a job and obligation, and not a game that is fun to play. I've seen quite a few players who were previously addicted to vertical gear progression change their minds about that game design, after they have broken away from it by playing games like GW2 and the few other games that do NOT use vertical gear progression, and they seem to be greatly relieved and appreciative of the change, once they have overcome the addictive behavior that vertical gear progression promotes. (I'm sure I'll get flamed for this comment, but that's okay. I'm not trying to talk players out of continuing to play their game of choice, just pointing out this key difference that exists within GW2. If you doubt the affects of the addiction to vertical gear progression, check out the review of GW2 by Asmongold, who can't even consider playing GW2, or even has trouble acknowledging its best features, simply because it does not have a vertical gear progression system, which for him, makes the game a complete waste of time. That's how addicted he is to the vertical gear progression system, which is his choice, but notice how it affects his perception of all other games.) Video games being a complete waste of time is a whole other topic, that I won't go into. ;-)

agreed it is why i don't enjoy games like WOW or FF a lot because of the sub fee every month and the fact that everyone loves to rush to endgame. I am a casual player who likes to take my time and explore every nook and cranny of the map. GW2 is great because your not pressured into playing it everyday and when you do go a while without playing you can come back and not be punished for leaving the game.

As a veteran GW2 player, it's a little strange seeing someone stand so still in combat :D Almost all skills in the game can be used while moving, and it's very often beneficial to do so, even if just for better positioning.
@TheFullSpectrum2 жыл бұрын
That's good to know! I've played thousands of hours of FF XIV, where melee classes have a lot of positionals, tanks need to keep the boss facing away from the group and casters can only move at the end of their casts, so you step in between abilities like a dance. Looks like I'll have to work that out of my system for Guild Wars!

@@TheFullSpectrum I think it's one of the things that makes GW2's combat feel so fluid and fun.
@venny16892 жыл бұрын
@@TheFullSpectrum in gw2 there's a couple classes that also benefit from positionals, mainly thief wants to be on the back for higher crits and damage from traits. Ranger if using shortbow wants to be behind or flanking 100% of the time if possible, as that weapon has a huge front to flanking damage disparity.

Gotta pay attention on the conditions that are applied to you (burning, poison, chilling, etc) they shown as red icons on top of your skill bar. Some skills are meant to cleanse the conditions, take a look on the description, its a good idea to keep at least one of those. As a rule of thumb, always stay out of red circles :P

how about you step out of the poison damage :D
@ZianaSue Жыл бұрын
The poison shoot events are a group events and you definitely need a group of at least 2 because someone needs to distract the mobs so another player can take the bombs to the shoot and destroy it. And depending on the player's build if the mobs don't kill them the constant poison aoe in the area probably will. It's a headache but they count towards the new character adventure achievement, so kinda worth it. ---- edit --- when in down state you can spam the #4 skill and bandage yourself to get back up, but you'll likely die if you try to fight something that is full health while you're bleeding out (that's essential what's happening in downstate, you're bleeding out). ---- edit ---- look me up in game if you're on NA server zianasue.2160 - send me a mail, and I'll be more than happy to walk you through the basic of gw2 build crafting. I definitely want to help you with your inventory situation, and give you the run down on what to keep/put in the bank, what to salvage, and what to sell.

Appreciate all the advice, but since this video I have put nearly 500 hours more into the game, beaten Heart of Thorns, unlocked each elite spec for my Engineer, levelled one of each class to 80 and fully unlocked an elite spec on each. It took me a bit to get going, but my build/inventory look a lot better now than they did here! We have a playlist here on the channel of my journey through the game so far (currently working on Living World Season 3), if you want to see how much I have improved! kzfaq.info/sun/PLPfOoTiZycbr4slklmFE1FVYFPUsa6wVI
