I ARRIVED IN 2016 for one month (which turned into 5+ years), but only started vlogging in 2020. So what happened before then?
I have never told this story before - and now seemed as good a time as ever to do so! Join me for a raw look at why I came and why I stayed in the Philippines.
All the photos are my own from my original travels here in 2016 - no videos back then because I didn't come here as a vlogger!

Travel is an ADVENTURE not an EXPECTATION. Expectation is you hesitates of things should be going perfectly. Adventure is adjusting to good/worst case scenario and making it your own creation. Kumander D is an adventurer not a tourist of many expectation. Expectation is for a vacationer, where travel is for the adventurer, simple.

It is amazing hearing about how some people visit this country but end up living over there. I really enjoyed listening to you chat. Originally, I just stumbled onto your channel and found it fascinating you speaking a Filipino language and feeding your mum their food back in Wales. I actually thought you came back too soon but I am happy to see that I was wrong in that regard. That country is energising you, and your rapport, Kulas as well, with the locals is quite marvelous to watch. Just vlogging for a year is impressive, both you and Kulas have a sound taste in music that continues to impress and it really helps to add to the overall quality of your shows. I remember two of your videos caught me by surprise and I think I wrote, "Just, wow". Cheers for sharing, take it easy over there and keep smiling :)

"Why are you wandering around in the rain" 😆 Traveling with no particular place to go is like a leaf in the wind landing here and there. I didn't realize that you went to so many places before settling down in the southern part of the Philippines. It was great to hear your story, and thanks for sharing it. My wife and I have tickets booked for mid-October, and hopefully, the flight won't get canceled like the last four have been.

I love to hear people's "story". It is always fascinating how people got to where they are now. In fact, to me, I have never met a boring person that tells their story. It is the ones that keep their story unknown, then to be the boring/uninteresting people. I think that when KD is old and reflects on where he has been and what he has done, he will find that he had a very adventurous and interesting life. It doesn't have to be a perfect life, but it sure helps if it is an interesting life.

A good biblical faith has more meaning in many relevant things also mentioned around here. It's not only the defined worldview which helps provide a framework to fit in as a human person especially in these days when everything is forcefully changing. Also the outlook into eternity isn't everything already, although a huge important aspect. But for us as not so content and happy humans which also have to deal with guilt coming from everyday life: the free unconstitutional Gospel of forgiveness is a crazy concept offering a restored relation with God in an instant without the treadmill of modern life in our society. If one understands also the historical and philosophical facts supporting this faith and its implications the whole combination is the most unbelievable power of life.

Great video. Love hearing open modest people telling their stories. Way better than the millions of KZfaq vloggers spewing out the same reviews of the same location or attraction or restaurant or food for the millionth time - as if they are the first to discover it and are the voice of expertise which is a feat in of itself considering they arrived the night before and will be moving on a day later.

Not easy but you are very brave. Those unrecorded “episodes” were what made you stronger and knowledgeable as you blend in well with the locals. It’s also a blessing for you to have married a Filipina, you are meant to be a Foreign Filipino😂😂👏🏻. I fully appreciate you KD. You are good, humble, hard working and an honest man. My wife and my family are partially from the Philippines and we are Chinoy ( Chinese Filipino). I am Chinese/Japanese and my wife is Chinese Pinay. I can see both in your eyes and in your mannerism how difficult is must have been in your travles as I am an old man now. However, to seek the place you call home is what we all are looking for. The old adage from Ancient Chinese Culture: With PROSPERITY there are no WARS! Kyle is a good guy and you both need to remember this moving foreward and POWERING ON! The Philippines is a place were you can find AMAZING PEOPLE!! GOD BLESS YOU and your FAMLY and FREINDS!

Am glad to learn about your genuine and honest critique about the country. The Philippine Islands are perpetually beset with difficulties and short comings that are not of the nation’s fault but by the greed and self serving actions of some individuals. Your genuine concern, understanding and care for the indigenous people of Mindanao is praise worthy. You deserve the highest accolade for this reason. The Philippine Republic must recognize your genuine effort and therefore should award you of a citizenship. The Philippines is now your home away from Great Britain. Thank you Kumander for sharing your travel experience in the Philippines. It’s something you will never forget but cherish from the rest of your other foreign travels. Whether it was planned or an instant decision to visit the country and travel to random places of interest, there’s a reason why you ended up in Davao. You met your wife and finally settled in the city. Most of the time, people settled after finding their other half. Yours was no different. You found your lovely wife and made a decision to settle down after wandering endlessly. Love your early photos. 😘 You captured life and its meaning from the eyes of your lense, amazing! It seems that photography is your passion and now with the added use of drone and video cam, you are portraying more life and experiences by vblogging. It was fate you were brought to Cateel and met Kulas who is a famous vblogger and got you influenced to start the craft. Your life before Kulas was simple back then. Photography was put aside and fish pond was in the front as you were out of the radar in Cateel until you became friends. Glad you two met and it seems the friendship is working well. 19:01-19:36 that was a nice food truck. Why don’t you revive the business? Now that you have established a name in social media yourself particularly you tube, wouldn’t be enticing to try it again? “Kumander Daot feel the beat food truck” but you have to man it yourself for a couple of months so a steady flow of customers will be maintained. Just find a good strategic place to park where you think people will easily find you. A mobile food truck that goes with you within Davao as a start if possible. Vblog about it and people will come to see how’s Kumander manning and taking orders from enthusiastic customers👌 You just have to find and employ a good cook because that’s what people really want to try and buy again.

KD, you are so down to earth and genuine. The things you talked about seem to be have the indelible mark in your memory bank, you even remembered the little details including the time and street names. You went from Luzon to Visayas and then Mindanao. That walk from Vito Cruz to Makati under the rain is mind-blowing. With the traffic, the bad weather, and that massive distance, you must be in deep thought to not be deterred. You've been to the North and down to the South! You have had a lot of misses with business ventures and shows your hardwork, bravery, perseverance, and belief in the good side of man. Finally, it would seem that you are a natural with vlogging. And you know what, we are with you. Know that many people are rooting for you, so just talk away and we'll support you. And I hope, those who follow you will subscribe and try to watch all your videos.
