I have the combi and weed eater and love it. I use the 300 battery and the stihl battey backpack designed for it to keep the weight down. I have 27 yards in Florida that I do and they have been one of the best purchases. I also have the larger chainsaw and it also takes the 300 battery. I do not regret the purchase at all!

I traded my gas mower in for a free Neuton CE6.4 Lawn Mower back in 2013 when the Air Quality Management District was doing a free trade-in program here in Southern California. I've been using it weekly ever since and the mower works great. The 36V Duracell CE6 battery is a little smaller than a car battery and has plenty of power. A couple of years ago it started to lose power so I looked into a replacement. Neuton wanted about $250 for a new battery so I opened the battery case and found it contained 3 Kung Long WP10-12SE 12V 10Ah batteries wired in series (so I'm not really sure it's a Duracell battery). After testing each battery, I found one was not holding a charge so I replaced it with a Power Sonic PS-12100 H battery for about $40. It's been working great again ever since. As long as you take car of your equipment, it can last a long time.

Great video man! I just sold all my gas powered Stihl yard equipment, except the backpack blower and chainsaw. Bought the KombiSystem with nearly all the attachments and 2xAP300 batteries. I am extremely happy with it. The pruning saw is freaking so awesome!

I've had the Kombi system for the last 10-12 years and love it. At some point I will need an electric head because of the direction things are going. I've got the different attachments that I need. Great system, gas or electric. Great review.

I have the craftsman v60 for string and lawnmower and blower. Honestly the only reason i have them is I got all three for under 500 bucks on clearances. They work for my city lot. I have looked at Makita as a lot of there stuff is made in Japan, not all, but some. They have power head and backpack too. And a lot of reviewers really like them and keep going back.

I'm really tempted to get into the Stihl lineup but the steep entry price makes me back away. I think it is a fair price where it is considered commercial grade but just for my own personal use I think not. I have the EGO trimmer and it's better than any gas trimmer I have used. Not better than Stihl but it works awesome for me. Thanks for your honest review!!

Kinda cool that you can use your Kombi attachments for it, you can run the battery and if it dies and you still got work to do just swap the power head back to the kombi engine and your good to go.

Nice video. I'm with you on not buying chinese and have looked at the Stihl stuff but not been convinced about the backpack battery. I only have 1 acre so I'm not sure I need pro level stuff, but I'm in to support manufacturing in respectful nations.

I agree to buy Stihl. I went thru a half dozen knockoff weedeaters and chain saws before finding my local Stihl dealer. My wife is also German, and yes the Germans make everything precision, perfect, and pretty! I comment again to say I am saving up for the Stihl battery kombi, all the stuff priced out to around $1500 August 2021 in my Texas store. But, those lil pipi cans of Truefuel cost $20, so that adds up very fast over the life of the tool, compared to coal burning electricity.

So I have the old style 2002 so its 20 yrs old. When did the 1st battery power unit come out? I liked our old unit. Just the motor got left out but have all the attachments

I switched from the EGO trimmer (5800 rpms) to the power head (7000 rpms). The extra speed made a huge difference, but still not comparable to a serious gas unit. I was thinking about switching back to gas, but now that Stihl and Husqvarna have started offering battery trimmers in the 8000-8500 range, I am hesitant.

Husqvarna (sweden) has the same identical system (at least here in EU) and the quality is the same; so, it's not just Stihl. I sometimes have a feeling that the two imitate each other in many products.

There's no question that Stihl makes decent quality stuff and I think the external battery system is a great solution for some landscapers or commercial lawn care folks but.... for the average and not so average home owner it is absolutely insane. $1300+ for a string trimmer, battery and charger is just completely over the top. The problem is most other brand name tools have made leaps and bounds in quality, power and battery run time for a fraction of the Stihl price. Seriously. Milwaukee and Dewalt for example make battery powered OPE that exceed the needs of most home owners for about 1/3rd the price of the Stihl setup. And... when you aren't trimming grass you can use the batteries on your drill, saw, impact or any other battery powered tool. And by the time those batteries go bad those companies will have a new battery available that will be twice the capacity of the one you have for around $150. Again, nice unit but way way out of the budget of the majority of home owners. Even most who CAN afford it will probably chose a much less expensive solution.

Why not just add a corded option? The plug appears proprietary yet a standard two or three prong would make this more versatile.

Interesting to see what you use and like. I think that for many of us we like a single battery system for a mower, blower and string trimmer. Are you using a Stihl mower and blower? I may be able to justify a few thousand dollars for a really good system, but I would want it to meet all my yard work needs. If I had to use a patchwork of different brands and batteries that isn’t appealing.

Hey brian do they have smaller regular batteries that you can put in the back of the stihl 130 R like 36 volt individual battery pack like the Milwaukee style batteries? like say you have a small patch to do and don't want to use the backpack or does it only run off the backpack and cord can you pop a individual battery pack and make it completely cordless for small jobs? @WorkshopAddict

Great review as always....stihl is the best ope and of course chainsaws. It’s like buying MAC, SnapOn, or Wright tools, expensive but they have the best quality, USA made and outperform everyone else. Gave you used the hedge trimmer attachment? How do you find the battery life?

You can tell by the shiny color this equipment is brand new with about 2 hours on it. A day with me and that thing would be GREEN GREEN.

Thanks for sharing this video. I'm curious as to how much run time you get from that battery pack? Stihl's website says to expect 100/63/50 minutes with a strimmer head, do these numbers match your results? I am considering this unit for use around our farm, I am concerned about run time and the added costs for the charger, battery, battery pack vs just getting a gas version.

i use the ego power head and backpack. i love it. sthil is probably better quality, but the chinese tools are doing the job for a great price, so far (i had them for 3 years). the double safety looks very annoying.. you are saying that china is stealing the tech, but they have been doing these before the occident, i think its the other way around. we are copying them.

I've been using this system for over a year and love it but the motor has started giving me trouble (cutting out/losing power) and can't get anyone to look at it. This is the only draw back i think. Anyone can fix the petrol one but this one needs a diagnostic equipment.

It's a nice system but I don't think it's for a typical suburban homeowner. If you have 1/2 an acre to an acre in the suburbs I'd find it hard to justify spending that much. Not that the system isn't high quality but you can buy a great ego, Echo, Dewalt system for much less. I have the Echo 58V line, trimmer, hedge trimmer, chainsaw, charger and 2x4 amp hour batteries. I bought pieces open box, returns, refurbished and spent 350. It's used on a 1/2 acre in the suburbs and it's awesome, it's the first generation trimmer and the rear is very heavy but it works very well. I don't like the lag but nothing I can do about that. The hedge trimmer is a weak point, it's just heavy and unless you have tons of shrubs or large ones it's overkill and by the time I'm done using it my back is sore. The chainsaw is the best. I also have a Stihl 009L, Stihl Super Farm Boss, Echo CS2450, and an Echo PPT-2400. The battery operated Echo is now my go to saw. Granted if I had 20 acres it would be a different story. I still have Echo powered trimmers, blowers, cultivators, etc that are 20+ years old and all run great. I've done carbs and such maintenance, and now since I hardly use them I only put trufuel in them. Wether it's made in China or not isn't important to me. I've spent three years there, launched the Ford Edge out of Hangzhou and been to hundreds of suppliers, you can get plenty of good equipment that is made in China but that isn't going to be from harbor freight, ebay, or amazon. I haven't bought a Stihl powered tool in 20 years, all my old stuff works great, only stihl piece of power equipment that was awful was a trimmer a Stihl rep convened me to buy because it was 30% cheaper then the comparable echo. I still regret buying it, the echo's are over 20 years and going strong, that Stihl lasted less then 5 with minimal use since it was only a backup. I'm all about buying quality, buy once and have it for 20 years, I have a Scag as my mower, but will have to pass on the Stihl unit it's overkill to the extreme for my use case.
