I own an XT5 and was just browsing Fuji KZfaq for entertainment, I don't know why but being French expat living in Singapore landing on your video hearing your Singaporean accent was really heart-warming, feels like "home" (at least my home now). Subscribed!

I used to shoot with a 23mm f1.4 until I got the 18-55 fujinon lens and man. It’s so good for photo and video. Though I do miss the low light of the 1.4 at times.

Yes i agree, though not the brightest lens, it’s super versatile for both photo and video!

Enjoyable video, the images you shared are stunning, great light. Subscribed and look forward to future content 🙂 I had the original X100 and while I loved it, it certainly wasn't a pocket camera so i still needed a bag. If I had to take a bag anyway I found I preferred the versatility of interchangeable lenses as you do. 50mm or 90mm tend to be my most used FF equivalent focal lengths. If i go wide it tends to be really wide like 24mm.

Thank you, that’s very kind of you. 😊 Appreciate your sharing too! That’s true, the X100 series is actually similar in size to the XT5, not exactly pocketable.

Nice to hear your opinions. I’ve spent decades shooting each focal lengths, 28, 35, and 50mm so I’m comfortable with all ….now I use 8-16 and 100-400 in Fuji plus 18, 23, 35, 50. I’ll use whatever lens for the day.

The x100 is not a replacement for interchangeable lens cameras. It’s a good addition for when you don’t want a body and bag of lenses. It’s more of a travel camera or everyday camera.

I think 40mm full frame is the sweet spot ( 27mm on apsc ), 23mm is a tad too wide.

I have both xf35 and xf23 as well. I bring both lenses with me and only use the 23 in situations where the 35 is too tight.

I agree. I have a film camera with a fixed 40mm lens and i like that field of view. It really is the sweet spot!

Chris Nichol of Petapixel and Robin Wong also don’t like the 35mm full frame field of view (23mm on aps-c, 17mm on m4/3)

I have a similar view with the 23mm. Sometimes it’s too tight or too wide. I am on the wait list for the new camera but still not sure. I do have an XT3 which I love. I just need something smaller for quick family and travel shots.

I totally get you cos size does matter! focal lengths don't mean a thing if we don't even want to bring it out in the first place 😂

Re: XT-5, looking at the XT-5 + 23mm F2, that lens has worse performance than the x100v lens. Looking at the 23mm F1.4... it has better performance... but now the size of the camera + lens is much larger. You have to really put a premium on the size of the camera to pay $1600+ given the other excellent options...
@Mw02veg
@Mw02veg Ай бұрын
The only slight issue with the 23mm f2 is when you are at minimum focusing distance at f2 a little soft other than that the lens is great. How many photos are taken like that?

How do you find work for your photography career and what you do before that? I'm a freelance logo designer, do you or anyone you know need a logo? Great video by the way? I want to show the real world has amazing event without the need of make up and filter so I will go for Nikon Zf when I has the money one day, previously researched a lot and thought to go with Sony A7RV actually.

I used to do marketing and when I first started photography, I did small part-time gigs for a food delivery company. At that time they were rapidly growing and needed menu photography for their vendors. Sorry I don’t know anyone who needs a logo. But yes I’ve heard about the Zf though I haven’t tried one myself. But I know someone using the Z FC and the colours SOOC are nice too.

With a 40mp sensor you can easily crop in to achieve the same results as your 35mm or 50mm lens. Nicely produced video, I enjoyed watching you.
@charm_wu
@charm_wu Ай бұрын
That’s true! cropping is one way to do it. It’s when I need a wider angle that it’s more limiting.

35mm (ff field of view) is also my least used focal length. I mostly use it for environmental portraits.

Same here. And usually that’s when i’m out with only my 10-24mm and the 24mm is the longest focal length i have.
