Hey Joshua, thanks so much for the feedback! Mous cases were designed to be a balance of protection, style and functionality. We try our best to be the best in all 3 but sometimes there's compromise and the sides were designed like so that the case would be super easy to slide in and out of pockets. That being said, this is something we are looking into but we want to make sure if/when we do it, it feels good, looks good and works well - without the downsides (dust magnet, hard to get in/out of pockets, doesn't feel nice, etc) Cheers! 😊

As someone who has been using a Mous case on my s9 for two years and soon to be on the s21, I definitely enjoy and prefer the smoothness of the sides being that it makes it effortless to retrieve it out of my pockets without any hassle. I personally think the cases are perfect as they are, but if you add some grip to them, please do so with caution. I personally have never liked cases with rubbery or extra-grippy exteriors for this reason.

I’m just watching this cause’ mine (walnut) got broken after 27 months of usage. The side where the lining is got ripped apart. Now I’m thinking of buying the leather one or just try another brand.

Huh. I've never had this problem with their cases, but I always order the aramid fiber patterned case. Maybe it has a different finish.

That could definitely be part of it - but it was the black edges that were the most slippery for me.

Love both points for more grip and or less grip with ease to remove from pocket. However, no one wants to keep dropping their phone. Thankfully the case seems to protect against fall, but I'd rather have ease of mind that nothing loosens within the mechanism of the phone if dropped constantly due to poor grip, nor do I want it sliding and working out of my pockets. For videographers I can see this being a problem especially. If it can be used with a gimbal, I wonder if it will slip from that as well as I'm in the market for both case and gimbal.

I'm sure it can definitely be used with a gimbal and I guess it'd just depend on how tight the gimbal jaws are as to if it would slip out or not.

You just can't win with some people.. I like the honesty of this review and the point made would be a deal breaker for some people. This point should be considered when buying a new phone case however the case is well protected and can survive some serious drops. Also most new phones are waterproof to some degree 😊

I love mine. It’s saved my phone many times and I love that it has magnets in it. No problems with audio either. I got mine before MagSafe came out. It’s not slippery for me. If you hold it by the back corners then yeah but if you hold it by the whole side it works great.

I’m looking at buying a protective case (to stop a corner crack worsening). Do you think the carbon fibre one would be better? And also is it very protective? Mine cracked in a $5 case from Amazon, I’m looking for something better.

I can’t speak to the carbon fiber as Ive never held it. According to the marketing and other reviews, yes they are very protective.

I recently purchased the Limitless 4.0 case for my 13 Pro Max, and I've noticed the sides are more gripper now compared to the previous versions I've owned.

Very honest my man!! Appreciate it. Was looking to buy one since my apple leather case is pretty but worned up unfortunately….does the wood at the back tend to leave marks or has any flaws over time?

It ages over time just like any piece of wood might, so yes, I have a few dings and scratched into it.

I have the limitless 2.0 on my XR and I’ve never experienced what you’re describing. I’ve seen people struggle keeping a good grip with the larger phones or people with small hands. I bought some grip stickers and placed them on the back. I put my phone on the dashboard of my car and it stays put.

I'm sorry, I don't think there is a "best case" for everyone and every situation. At this time I'm giving a case by MOMENT a try and am pleased so far.

You would think Mous would add a little texture to the sides of the case? Also they need to fix the symmetrical cutouts on the bottom to the correct asymmetrical of the iPhone 12 Pro Max

Yeah lots of cases still have the symmetrical cutouts - the case Im using now by Moment has it - but having it that way allows you to attach a write tether to either the left or right side. If it was asymmetrical the attachment loops would be different sizes.

I’ve been using my mous walnut case on my Xs for ages and i haven’t had this issue, even trying it now it feels super grippy especially compared to apples own cases.

Fair complaint I have heard some of the other finishes give the back more grip, mitigating the problem, beyond that my favourite tough cases are rhinoshield (their buttons aren't the nicest feeling though) and spigen, which do a fair job all round

Rhinoshield's white cases use a certain material and finish that becomes dirty looking permanently with grayish marks that don't come off even from soap and water by the way. Had one for my galaxy s10 and had to submit a support ticket for a free replacement where I received a black version of the case, so yeah just a heads up.

My mous s10e clarity case had several adhesive failures. They replaced it 3 or 4 times for me until I gave up

I agree with you at the first place, when I first got my Limitless 2.0, it was slippery, but my phone survived when I accidently dropped my phone out of the phone mount when driving motorcycle in a highway. So I decided my next case will be Mous too. Today I just got the Limitless 4.0, it is no longer slippery in the edges, I think they have listened to you and changed the material To be fair, I think you should should update this information in the video description.

I'd order both from a place that has free returns - touch them and you'll probably be able to make a clear decision - then return the one you don't prefer.

Not had this issue much personally, when I’m tired I’ve dropped in on myself a few times lol. But this case is so well made I no longer even worry about it dropping as I know it will survive fine! I use it all day on and off while installing flooring as well as gaming loads at home. Not much issue but if it’s not for you it’s not for you! Good luck on your search for a new case! Personally I’ll be with mous forever!

For a slim case I have been more than satisfied with the Raptic Defense Lux formerly X-Doria. It's slim, tough and lightweight and I have used it for 3 years. It seems very impact proof and has saved my phone several times. I bought the case for the new iPhone 12 Pro Max also but this iPhone is not yet in stock at my location. This year I am also trying out a more heavy duty waterproof case now that I live near the beach and want to avoid getting sand into the phone. For this feat I have chosen the Catalyst All Protection Waterproof case that is due to be released at the end of this month (February). Saw some good reviews on it. Thanks for your review!

The dbrand case is badass and you can get it with wood and it's super grippy but it's not as protective as you would think... The back of my phone glass broke and I didn't even know until I took my case off

Bro, I agree! This is exactly why I returned mine! I got the Limitless 3.0 and man, I dropped my walnut case within the first 2 minutes of having it. It was SOOOOO slippery. Same thing with the Aramid fiber. By far one of the most slippery cases I’ve ever had. It’s also one of the heaviest cases I’ve ever had. I loved the look of them, but they couldn’t stay in my hand. Sorry Mous!

The old life proof case I had for my iPhone 5 is way more slippery than the mous case I have now for my XS Max. That being said I think the mous cases are the best on the market. Super protective and have some cool accessories. I’ve never had a problem with it slipping in my hands. I wouldn’t consider slipperiness a “fatal flaw”. I bough the aramid fiber and then the walnut a year later for same phone just cuz I wanted to change it up. I noticed no difference in “slipperiness” between the 2 cases

I has the same issue with this and the Cell Helmet cases. They're oddly slippery and slick, which some people like because they have theirs in their pockets and whatever, but I never reach for the super slippery cases. Ever. I'm already clumsy, and I can't deal with dropping my phone more than usual.

I've never had an issue with my Mous cases and I've been using them for years. Nothing comes to close to the protection and form factor. I've just this second had a new walnut case delivered for my Pixel 4A 5G - £11.99 on sale! The only thing I have issue with is not being able to use a generic magnetic car mount. I'm not paying £30 for a mount, especially as I have two cars. It's ridiculously expensive and I don't see how they can justify the cost.

How loose is your grip? I've just got one and don't find that it slips at all. You can feel the friction when you touch it. I don't hold it tightly at all and don't understand how you are having this issue.

I just bought my first Mous case from them and I must say it is the most secure case I have held in my hand in the history of iPhones yet it is easy to take in and out of my pocket. I really don’t understand how they did this but it is a 5 star case in terms of how secure I feel holding it.

Lol, I had the same case and very same feeling when I picked up that phone. So, I had to put a clear sticker in the back so that I won’t have that slippery sensation when I touch it. But yeah, totally feel what you mean 😆

My 2¢, the limitless case is designed to be used with a wallet attached on the back. With the wallet on it it becomes much easier to hold, and the slicker edges make it easier to get into and out of your pocket with said wallet attached.

Strange, I've been using mine for 3 years and never noticed how slippery it is. Leather does feel better, but a leather case only lasts one year.

Was thinking about getting the 3.0 for my new S21 Ultra. So glad I watched this first. Will look at mous again in the future (awesome drop protection, beautiful cases), but will probably go with my usual go-to with Rhinoshield. Thanks for making is video! Cheers.

Someone recommended Moment cases to me and they had a walnut version very similar in appearance to the Mous - its what I'm currently using and am happy with the grippiness.

The wood case is real wood, so one should expect it to be as slick as polished wood. I have the black mous 3.0 case on my Note 20 Ultra, and it's the least slippery and best case I've ever had on any phone. Premium feel with little extra bulk. I've dropped the phone twice from about 4 feet without any damage to the phone or case. I haven't tried the mous mounts yet, so I can't attest to all their products, but I'm sold on the case. It seems as durable as Otterbox but feels way better in the hands and fits the phone like a second skin.

I have the same phone and just got the carbon fiber finish and I don't have an issue with it being slippery. It looks great and is built extremely well. It's sturdy and reliable. I a better sense of security w it on. If that changes somehow I'll let you know.

The leather version is super grippy. (I have the contour) However they can’t really control some things because the materials are very real and unchanged.

I didn't have an issue with the walnut backing - it was the black plastic on the sides that is super slippery.

great review and you're on point about everything. I'm a fan of Mous and other cases, but i've the same experience with the Limitless 3.0. I have an 11 pro max and also have the Contour case and Clarity. Both those make the Limitless seem so bulky and slippery. Contour is my favorite but i know they didn't carry the line. Clarity seems the grippiest out of the box and the polycarbonate back is sticky but not overly. Good luck and thanks for the reivew.

Question: have you done any reviews on caseology phone cases. I love them but the plastic thins shell has a weak point on right edge from my three cases in 5 years. But that is it. And of course most phones have universal weak point at mid volume button. But that ends my talking points . Thanks bye.

I got a flip wallet magnetic addon with my limitless 2.0 for my iPhone SE (2020) about a year ago now -"The rubber around the flip wallet for its edging came off fairly quickly, but the stitching is still going strong, the only thing I've noticed is it coming undone under the part of the cards section, but closer inspection looks like it's not vital/ necessary for it to keep the cards in it (Looks more like fraying of the underside material is all). I hadn't actually noticed the slipperiness till now, as when I actually decided to hold it without the wallet on it? -Yeah! -*-You're Right! xD-*- But- the wallet addon, actually makes it a bit easier to hold onto in my opinion... *Maybe it might help you feel more comfortable with the slipperiness next time?

The grip case is great. If it had the grip texture on mous then it would be perfect. The mous on 13 pro max is weird from the top because of the speakers at the top but they didn't need to make it thin. Grip case is protective enough. The 4.0 on mous is better than 2/3.0 as the left and right edges weren't raised but this time it is and it's raised even further in the corners so let's see if it does a better job protecting the phone as my last case 3.0 cracked my screen protector twice in just two falls. Instead of twice in many falls so that annoyed me about the mous case but I have the 4.0 I only wish it had the grip dbrand texture on the side. Maybe I'll add that myself

I have the aramid fiber case on a SE 2020 with no problem with it slipping out of my hand. The quality & feel is top notch. I have a new iPhone 12 Mini waiting for me at the Apple store in Portland along with a mous aramid case on its way to me. Sure, these cases are not cheap but the protection and cost savings from a drop are well worth the extra cost. I had my Oneplus 6T fall onto the ground from a seated position in a car and the glass is cracked on the back. It had an aftermarket case on it.

I agree! I bought carbon fiber case thinking it was going to have lots of grip. To my surprise it's extremely slippery. Which begs the question why don't they make these $70 dollars cases with grip? The answer I was given on reddit was if it slips out of your hand and hits the ground its super protected so no need to focus on grip.

You just have to use the case more and it loses that slippery feel. I’ve had 4 different mous cases, every single style starts off like that except maybe the leather and fabric one. The wood and aramid fiber are both extremely slippery out of the box but with wear are completely fine. Don’t listen to someone who hasn’t even taken the time to break their case in!

I like the lack of grippyness, makes it easy to get in and out of a pocket. Why not use some sandpaper on the edges? Shouldn't take much of a couple passes with 80 grit to give it some texture and make it less slippery.

Ive never had an issue with things getting stuck on pockets. Sandpaper might work but why spend the money just to sand it down? I’m on the hunt again!

Never had any issues with their cases. Currently on their 3.0 model and I've never had grip issues. Idk how you're gripping your phones but I'd reccomend a more firm grip because I only need one hand for mine.

I've used the exact case. Its caused my back glass to shatter. It is very slippery. Their magnetic attachments suck. can't even drive down the road before it flings off. I actually had them send me a new one cause the first case split at the joint from rubber to plastic. Then the second is also split but my back glass shattered unknowingly to me until one day I needed to take off the case for something. I love the slim and sleek look and feel of the phone in the case but I never dropped the phone from no more than pocket height. who knows. Im currently looking for a 13 PRO case and will probably have to go back to an Otterbox Defender or I'm looking into the Rokform but still unsure of its ability to absorb shock.

The carbon fiber is fine but I have big hands and a note 20 so I've literally only dropped it once in a year and I think it was from knocking it out of bed rather than dropping it from my hands. This is not the case with previous phones and cases where I've dropped or lost grip of them sending them hurling to the ground too many numerous times to count.

Iphone 7 has audio issues, its called audio ic. Never had this issue with a mous case, me and everyone in my house has one.

I cracked my note 10+ screen twice with the walnut case. First time it slipped out of my pocket and fell less than six inches hitting the e brake in my work truck braking the edge. Second time I was taking it out of my pocket and dropped it less than 3 feet and shattered the corner. No more mous for me !

2 mous cases bought, don't have the problem. But for the protection they provide its a great trade. I had 2 bicycle falls and my phone has been thrown from my holder and it has not taken damage. Definitely will continue to buy Mous cases.

I've just bought the limitless 4.0 and find the sides to have the perfect level of grip. It feels good in the hand and haven't had experienced an issues with it yet slipping. Overall I'm really pleased with both the aesthetics and performance of the case

2 min with light grit sandpaper can give you traction. I know you don’t want to have to do that, but it’s a fast and effective fix. The drop protection is the biggest factor for me. 3 years on my last one, without incident. I have dropped on concrete, asphalt, wood, tile…. Perfect score. MOUS is my choice, again.
