SMALL THING TO ADDRESS: I've seen alot of comments referring to Theft Kings video on this topic and I wanted to address something. These are OPINION Pieces. These are not straight facts. Both Theft King and I and I'm sure many others didn't like this game. I understand that alot of people love this game and that is FANTASTIC! I would much rather have time and effort put into improving this game than ban ban which is now a cultural icon somehow. Regardless of how much effort people put into a game, people are allowed to critique it. Its the same as someone watching a video, they are allowed to critique it and in fact, on this channel I encourage anyone who doesn't agree with me to discuss why they think I'm wrong. However, I use Theft King here to reference something important. Every one is entitled to their opinion and that does NOT mean you get the right to harass and bully anyone due to their opinion. I've seen people spam harassment claims on videos like this and it annoys me. If you have a personal problem with someone over a video game.. maybe you need to look within. I appreciate all the kind and respectful critics on this and all my videos and I will continue to discuss these opinions as I really enjoy doing it! Don't take it to that next level and be a dick. I get your point but Indigo Park is a million times better than BanBan, Banban has little to no effort put into it, but UniqueGeese actually put the TLC and effort into the game, witch i think is the most important part of making a game.😀

I do believe that uniquegeese has stated that he wanted to go back and remaster the first chapter once he releases chapter 2. The gameplay does leave something to be desired, but still has a lot of potential.

4:08 Maybe because Banban and Poppy dedicated both a single chapter for 1-2 characters. And bAREEEEEEEEEELY involved them into the aura or the building. YES, they appear all over the place on paintings and signs BUT BUT, they are not interacting with us more than just chasing us for a bit and then, back to being just signs and paintings. Here I really felt good with the way the game makes you get INVOLVED with the characters, either you want it or not. And best part is they don't make it feel like you're forced to do it. They are smooth with the presentation of the everyone.

ok,ok idigo park IS better than garten of banban. garten of banban has bad graphics. cash grab.bad death animations and bad sounds.

While I agree with this video, I disagree on one thing. Mascot horror is not a “trope” this game uses. The “mascot” isn’t just an antagonist that chases you around, it’s a character that actually gets fleshed out and developed. It has character, but not in a way like security breach where it doesn’t feel like an animatronic, but in a way where it makes the character feel more like a guide rather than a one-note character that you’ll forget once you’re done playing the game.

I think a lot of the flaws in Chapter 1 all roots down to UniqueGeese still being decently new to game development and the general fact that it started off with a pretty low budget for how high quality it is. I'm sure with enough time given he'll be able to cook pretty solid chapters in the future. I will say that I def think despite Chapter 1 being themed after Mollie name and all she was hardly ever a present threat until the end. She appears stalking you quite a few times however she never directly interacts with the player until the cliche chapter 1 chase scene. Also I think the messages in the death screen aren't meant to be hints and more or so lore. In the chase you can here her mumbling different repeated phrases due to the fact she's a parrot. One big positive I have for the game tho is def the OST, I have been listening to it on repeat at this point.

It is just like poppy chapter 1 cuz it is just the start After chapter 3 of it. It was just perfect We criticized the 1st chapter while we praise the 3rd chapter I thik if we give the dev some time it will be a marvelous game!

I expected to hate this but I actually like the constructive criticism that isn’t Theft King mindlessly hating. Definitely gonna recommend this to UniqueGeese before he watches Theft King. Edit: And for the blood it’s because so many people were comparing the characters to animatronics and still didn’t get the message even after he said over and over they weren’t lol. He said later there will be a lot more gore and stuff, which will actually be fun since so many games are tip-toeing around gore and stuff because of the little kids whose parents neglect them.

So i ask you be nice. This was being made before poopy playtime 3. Several criticism is not been valid because one person made this and horror has been overused tropes that only now have people have talked about. There was mostly disney inspired and if he had more people helping then he would have been able to have better designs and more interacitbles.

When you think about it, Indigo Park Chapter 1 is like Batim chapter 1 in a way. Both have you introduced to the world and characters, both make you solve basic puzzles, and both involve encounters with the main creatures you will deal with later. But that compassion isn’t a bad thing since Batim became one of the top mascot horrors so I have high hopes for Indigo Park

I find this game alright, I'm willing to give it time and see where it goes. It's better than most Mascot Horror games for sure, but I still think this general concept has been done far too many times. I enjoyed Chapter 1 pretty decently, but I just can't get invested in these sorts of games anymore, they're too common and always do the same things. This game especially, while I know it's a passion project, just feels like something that was deliberately crafted by a small chunk of the KZfaq community to make a popular spin on a tired formula, like "Hey, I'm doing this thing but better, look at me!" I mean, the developer for this game initially did a remake of the first chapter for Banban. I'm not saying this game copied anything but the basic idea of visiting an abandoned place with evil yet cartoonish monsters that players can easily fall in love with is just so overdone. Rambley in particular proves my point, he just feels like a character that was concocted to make as many people love him as possible with his cutesy design and goofy mannerisms, rather than genuinely earning the audience's affection. Plus, I'm surprisingly the only person I know of to have a problem with this, but I HATE his voice. Now the performance itself is great, but in-game it's been edited to sound more robotic with a bunch of pitch shifting and effects to it. So he sounds both high pitched and low pitched all the time in a choppy way that's not noticeable at first but very quickly wore on my patience. It's telling that most of the edits to his voice are taken off for the song at the end because otherwise it'd be intolerable. So while I agree or disagree with some of your points, (I actually liked all the character designs and I don't know why for one), I can say this is better than Poppy Playtime or Garten of Banban simply because the production value is better for the most part, there's more potential, and it doesn't feel as much like the people making it had an ulterior motive. Still, it's so cliche and a lot of the popularity feels largely artificial to me, like this game only got attention because a bunch of big KZfaqrs were either involved in making it or played it on their channels. Like I said, I'm interested to see where this goes, but this is a game genre that mostly lost me long ago. I doubt you read all this, but hey, pretty nice and constructive video!

I love how you didn't shame the game for being a mascot horror game, all the shame goes to Ban Ban. I can tell you're a good sport. But I do want to point out that its definitely NOT Poppy Playtime, because it has a theme park setting. Plus, you're right when you say that its not a cash grab like FNaF. However, the reason I love the game is because of the storyline. Saying that its worse than Ban Ban in your thumbnail is extremely misleading because UniqueGeese put a lot of time and effort into this game. He did say that he's going to update Chapter 1. Now, I'm writing a short story collection in the tradition of the mascot trope, but it's meant to poke fun at, *and* point out, the flaws of said trope.

It feels quite underdeveloped. Essentially a walking sim, with very light puzzles and some jump scares. From all the fan reactions to the game I expected way more content and more interaction with the mascot characters. It would have been a welcome change to see them actually looking like their cartoon counterparts, and making this the weird-creepy element to their appearance.

Is it good as a game to begin into these scary atmosphere games? Because I'm still a scared cat ^^;

I actually though this was more fun that FNaF Security Breech, which isn’t a testament to it being very good, but just confirmation that Scott Cawthon ran out of good game ideas after 2015 and Steel Wool was no better.

I’m not sure if I’d call Indigo Park a bad game, lackluster in gameplay? Yes, but not bad. When I think of arguments like this my mind goes back to Silent Hill 2, the gameplay in it sucks but that doesn’t make it a bad game, it’s all about presentation and I’d say it’s doing good enough on that front. But I do hope that they do improve gameplay.

While I definitely love this game I can see where all this criticism is coming from, and I’m glad it’s being constructive…unlike a certain Someone’s review. I definitely think chapter 2 will be heaps better than 1 as uniquegeese said he was gonna expand the development team and thanks to the kickstarter they actually have a good budget now.

The clickbait on the thumbnail works, I'll give you that. And you did something a bit better than Theft King; you added some positive points... But yet, this doesn't feel like a balanced review at all, even with that addition in mind. If you actually cared about it, you'd know BATIM and SB are the main inspiration for all these recent Mascot Horror games. The genre itself was already oversaturated with Scott's obsession to make new games every six months or less. So originality is almost impossible to achieve on the genre. And yet, Indigo Park made something other Mascot Horror games didn't do as well as it did... Here, they made the main mascot actually charming, and that's refreshing to see on the genre (FNaF did it too, but after 5+ games). I can understand the complains about the gameplay, as it was a walking simulator most of the time. But this is an introduction, the game was made in roughly one year (it's incredible the game can even run like it does), and I seriously doubt any Mascot Horror game could get better at Horror after you go through the jumpscare #36. For a genre that abuses of that resource, it was nice to see Indigo Park didn't abuse of it for a change. Maybe deep down you do know the game has potential, but you should do more research before making videos like this one. It'll make your reviews more interesting, and you won't have people on the comments pointing out the obvious facts you left out in the video.

How good is 'Escape the Backrooms'?

My problem with this game is it's criminally generic. It brings nothing new to the table. It innovates in no shape or form. In an increasingly cut-throat gaming industry, this game has no right to be on the forefront of it's respective genre. Yet it is, because our standards have fallen into the dirt. Poppy Playtime ultimately started the downfall of Indie Horror, and games like this following in its footsteps only continued to popularize the Poppy Playtime style of content, with little actual substance, instead being popularized by its bright and colourful characters. Even with Poppy Playtime taking a more traditional approach at horror with Chapter 3, the damage is already done with Garten of Banban and Indigo Park being prime examples. Traditional horror is losing steam in the Indie Industry, with all of the bigshot Indie Horror games being spawns of mascot horror, because its a formula for success that can be copypasted with little variety. Bright and colourful characters = popularity, it seems. Hyperfixation shitcore kids seem to be the driving factor for this, with content like Indigo Park and Smiling Critters taking platforms like TikTok and KZfaq Shorts by storm. I can personally attest to this, as my friend (An avid hyperfixater and TikTok user) instantly latched into Indigo Park. While Garten of Banban is worse than Indigo Park, in my opinion. But with Garten of Banban, it's something you can at least love to hate. It's essentially the Morbius of Indie Horror. It relies on the absurdity of the craft to provide anything of substance, and the community doing the heavy lifting by memeing the game to death. Poppy Playtime, as much as I hate to admit has in my opinion taken a turn for the better (I would give a detailed review but that's an entirely different topic) in terms of gameplay and atmosphere. It's taken on an underlying theme of sorrow, loss, tragedy, and death which is oddly refreshing to see such topics brought up in mascot Indie Horror ever since FNaF shied away from a bloodier, more violent approach with its atmosphere and storytelling. The game itself still lacks substance though. But what of Indigo Park? There's simply nothing. Anyone above the age of 12 would agree the game isn't in the slightest scary, with neither scary atmosphere, gimmicks, or monster designs. It's popularized solely by Rambley, give or take, being given praise on platforms like TikTok. It's not bad. It's not good. It's simply mediocre in the utmost fashion, nothing to arouse like or dislike. Who knows if it will take a turn for the better in the upcoming chapters. But as it stands? The Occam's Razor of the situation is that Indigo Park is an incredibly generic husk of mascot horror that continues the ever-decaying downward trajectory set by Poppy Playtime.
