Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is a 2023 action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, and features a narrative inspired by its long-running comic book mythology which is also derived from various adaptations in other media. It is the third entry in the Marvel's Spider-Man series, acting as a sequel to Marvel's Spider-Man (2018) and a follow-up to Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020). In this installment, Peter Parker and Miles Morales struggle to navigate the next steps in their personal lives while combating several new threats, including a private militia led by Kraven the Hunter, who transforms New York City into a hunting ground for super-powered individuals; and the extraterrestrial Venom symbiote, which bonds itself to Parker and negatively influences him, threatening to destroy his personal relationships.
The gameplay builds on the foundation established by its predecessors, with an emphasis on the multiple playstyles afforded by Peter Parker and Miles Morales as Spider-Men. The game expands on their existing traversal and combat abilities, including new web-based gadgets and suits that can be unlocked through progressing in the story. It also introduces the former Spider-Man's symbiote suit, granting Parker unique abilities from his previous playable appearance.
Discussions regarding a proper sequel to Marvel's Spider-Man began during the game's development, with open story threads for future titles being teased across both it and Miles Morales. The game was announced in September 2021. Creative director Bryan Intihar, game director Ryan Smith, narrative lead Jon Paquette and art director Jacinda Chew from Insomniac Games respectively reprise their duties from prior entries, while Yuri Lowenthal, Nadji Jeter and Laura Bailey return to headline the game's ensemble voice cast, which comprises other returning actors and characters from the previous games. Jim Pirri and Tony Todd join the ensemble as the voices of Kraven and Venom, respectively.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was released for the PlayStation 5 on October 20, 2023 to critical acclaim. The game sold over 2.5 million units in 24 hours, becoming the fastest selling first-party title in PlayStation history. It is the third best-selling PlayStation 5 game.
Peter Benjamin Parker, also known by his alter ego Spider-Man, is a fictional superhero portrayed by Tobey Maguire that is based on the comic book character of the same name. He is the protagonist of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man film in 2002, its two sequels, video games, and an animated series designed to be set within that continuity (in which he is voiced by Neil Patrick Harris). This version of the character was followed by Andrew Garfield's portrayal in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man duology (2012-2014), with a further iteration being portrayed by Tom Holland set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) (2016-present). Maguire reprised his role as a supporting character in the MCU film Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), appearing as an older version of himself alongside his two successors' versions of the character. The narrative of Raimi's trilogy focuses on Peter Parker's growth from high school to college, and his troubled relationship with his childhood best friend Harry Osborn, as well as his relationship with Mary Jane Watson, Parker's childhood crush and girlfriend. The narrative follows his struggles with his dual life as a college student and young adult, often to the disappointment of his avuncular college teacher Dr. Curt Connors, as well as his job as a freelance photographer for the Daily Bugle, under the snarky and abrasive editor-in-chief J. Jonah Jameson, who despises Spider-Man and constantly prints defamatory articles about the vigilante. Parker's secret life leads to many encounters with various super-human criminals such as Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus who threaten the peace and lives of civilians in New York City.

To clarify the multiverse/canon point since some people seem confused. Across the Spider-Verse is canon to the Insom games, which makes his appearances in Geddon and Infinity Unlimited (his fights against Superior Spider-Man and 616 Peter) non canon. The Spider-Verse portal and many of the spider-bots are clearly from ATSV, with Yuri being otherwise unaware of the multiverse until then; which contradicts the comics thus making them non-canon. After the events of the Spider-Man 2 game, Insom was apparently recruited into the Society per his cameo in the movie. ATSV is connected to the MCU, Raimi, TASM, and Venom per the many references and cameos to such. We even see the Sacred Timeline from Loki as Miguel explains the Web of Life. The MCU multiverse is too distinct from the comic’s that I don’t think they’re even connected. The reasons would warrant their own video to really explain but a few of them are: - Slightly different group of Abstracts - Potentially different Big Bangs - Different backstory for Kang - Uatu not paying any attention to the comics if they are connected - Uatu treating What If? As if the multiverse is a new thing (There’s only one Uatu right now in the comics so if it was connected they’d be the same guy) - Glitching - Different reasons for Incursions - Darkholds in the comics despite MCU Wanda destroying all of them I hope that clears it up. ATSV is canon to Insom, Insom is connected to the MCU, the MCU is not connected to the comics; at least not by their multiverses.

I’m curious, how does tom’s Spider-Man scale to cull obsidian when both Ironman and Spider-Man were struggling to hold him back? also cull defeated Ironman and Wong saved him before dying. And cull obsidian defeated the hulk Buster that was not constantly getting extra part when it was destroyed or ripped off, and on top of that bruce banner was struggling to use hulk Buster and really wanted hulk to come out meaning hulk scales higher than that hulk Buster (even if infinity war hulk is stronger than the old hulk). And Thor didn’t use his lighting at all in the hulk vs Thor fight so you can’t use that to scale what tobey can take. Even if spiderverse debunked the comic appearance, the Harlem feat scales higher than anything tobey has done. And plus the things you are scaling to phase 1 hulk Ironman and Thor is all theory and big stretches

@@TimiseDaGoat Tom stopped Cull's attack dead in it's tracks and KO'd him in their fight. Tom performed better than Iron Man against Cull, I agree. The Hulkbuster Mk 1 has near a dozen statements of being Hulk lvl, knocked his tooth out, made shockwaves when they fought; it clearly scales to Hulk. Banner being a worse pilot has nothing to do with what the Hulkbuster was made of, which was shown to endure and hurt Hulk many times in their fight, and Cull can dent it and break it apart. Thor charged up his lightning to kill Leviathan's in A1, which Hulk can one shot, he also uses lightning amped hammer strikes to pierce a Leviathan's hide; which Hulk also does. The Harlem feat is weaker than Phase 1 Iron Man as shown in this video. Even if you don't think Tom scales to Hulk or Thor, he clearly performs evenly if not better against Cull than the MARK 50 Iron Man; so any of the 3 Spider-Man would be > Phase 1 Iron Man and his city lvls of energy. The Thor and Hulk feats are not theories or stretches at all, it's calculations based on things they do on screen point-blank.

And plus mcu scaling is wack since you can scale Thor to universal or star level but that’s not what he shows consistently, Ironman went one on one with 4 stones thanos for 2 minutes, Spider-Man got body slammed in 10 seconds and got knocked out. And phase 1 Ironman went 1 one 1 against Thor until cap ended the fight. Ain’t no way tobey scaled to phase one Ironman

The IW novel says Cull was KO'd by that. I do not scale Thor to either, so it's irrelevant. If some crackhead thinks Thor is actually star lvl it doesn't matter, every universe has weirdo fans, doesn't debunk MCU scaling as a whole. Thanos was holding back on Iron Man, as stated, and when he tried at all he shit on Tony too. Based on Tom scaling to Cull, and scaling to Cap who beat Phase 3 Iron Man, Spider-Man does 100% scale to Phase 1 Tony.

If they interacted, like most crossovers, they would be scaled up to have equal strength. Just like the actual movie crossover. None of the mathematics nonsense, the 3-spider-man characters faced the same foes. Writers keep destroying power scalers, and even Stan Lee did. Scene to scene, writers are not using advanced math calculations to determine each feat.

@@sumnahlennon5449 Ok , so you're kinda right and kinda wrong . Because i don't think they exactly make sure to have the math clear , but they do have some rough understanding about it and then take some creative liberties to update the scaling . Like everything other than Tobey's feat of matching Andrew in speed comes off as just a fact proven by Raimi movies . Look at the indirect scaling with an angry Tom's performance against both of Tobey's villains and compare them to Tobey's fights , they did not need to make him struggle like that against Doc ock for the story . Tom just got strong enough to beat Goblin in the end . So the scaling isn't perfectly equal , even though he'll most likely get stronger and who knows maybe in the same leagues they still recognise the level he's at now . Although it was equalised to the point to progress the plot as needed , their speed was made pretty relative when Andrew should be the fastest . They still maintained an impression , you can see it best with lizard , Tom got slammed down and stayed there hurt almost like Loki was by hulk , Andrew pushed him off himself and webbed him up , Tobey made an absolute cartoon out of him constantly kicking his face while he tried to latch on , and only got a good hit on Tobey when Andrew distracted him by accidently shooting a web in his face. And there's a reason an apparent encounter of Raimi spiderman vs Goblin which was shot didn't make it to the final movie. They just couldn't have that without overshadowing Tom's fight or showing very obvious levels of downplay that'd just upset people either way . I think you can still rely on vast differences in calculations or some rough but good understanding of the difference in feats while not pinpointing them with numbers .

2:46 It's a bit of both. Miles has energy absorption, but he can only absorb a finite amount before it starts to overload him.. He's struggling to keep all of that energy contained, so It's hurting him.

I've seen in vs battle wiki and well the movie itself kinda make it seem like he was made severely weaker than he was in infinity war for the sake of plot. Vs battle nerfed him massively when nwh came out and removed his earlier bigger feats entirely. Or do you think he wasn't nerfed and he still scales to all his older feats. Most people I see talk about it consider his past feats like kull obsidian and stuff as outliers now. I'm just curious on what you think.

I think the fight would be pretty even in terms of just combat and skills and no technology. We didn’t get to see Tobey in too much action with the black suit when I think about it so there’s not much to make with what he was capable of and could really do with the symbiote

The black suit in the Raimi verse is said to just enhance the host aggressiveness which made Peter more dangerous as Spider-Man because he would held back a lot less and have angry outbursts while wearing the symbiote. But other than that, it didn't seem to make him stronger or give him any new power. When Eddie got it the symbiote just transferred the powers it had absorbed from Spider-Man to Eddie except it was also starting to mutate more, which explain the Venom face and the fact it could survive for a bit without any host when Peter is able to separate Eddie from the symbiote.

@@thestrong2401 The scaling of base spiderman against New Goblin vs Symbiote Spiderman against New Goblin proves it gave him a boost of strength as well . Base struggled to remove Harry's hand from his face while not doing crazy damage with his punches without swinging , while Symbiote spiderman dominated him by the same margin base spiderman used to dominate Green Goblin back in the first movie , sending him flying with his hits without swinging momentum , and made him bleed . Peter also said he knows how the power feels good while trying reason with Eddie in the final fight .

I have a theory about antivenom suit spiderman that I haven't seen anyone else bring up. While Peter fought venom he was getting thrashed pretty bad, but something changed after he got knocked out. Once he got back up after miles was done fighting venom, he almost seemed invincible. Now I know this probably sounds far fetched but I think he got a type of "zenkai" buff or something after his first fight with venom. When you watch him fight venom at the end, peter gets slammed into the ground by venom on his head, then get showed through an exploding oil tanker and he's completely fine. Saying he was fine is an understatement, he didn't seem to notice it and in less than a second he got the upper hand on venom and slammed him into the ground. There was no indication that venom had gotten weaker, and peter hadn't used the antivenom properties in that scene until venom was already on the ground. To me he just seemed like he got wildly stronger. The venom suits have healing properties, and spiderman has already proven that he can get stronger, so I think it's not far fetched to say that he got a big physical buff at the end there. After that scene venom never held a candle to him.

@@fernosbonos5394 fym. Bro got ragdolled and 1shot by fucking Kraven. He got nerfed all across the board. His Spider Sense barely works, it didn't trigger against Sandman's slaps like 3 times. He got outsped IN THE SYMBIOTE by Kraven and Lizard and couldn't react to Venom's attack, which was flying straight at him from his front. There's "mental nerf" and there's just overall bullshit the writers decided to include. You telling me MJ can react to a Venom Tendril but Peter can't?

Tobey’s Spider-Man was luckily done extremely well when he was crafted all the way back in 2002 lol! Obviously the other Spidermen are strong but the development teams behind them unfortunately aren’t as good. Tobey is forever goated, especially being said to have scaled up his comic counterpart. For the superficial reason of being "strong as a comic counterpart." And every attack was tanked. That wouldnt make a fun game. Comics go on forever. In controlled environments like a game or movie, they cant have every character be faster than light, tanking universal punches in every scene like comic book nerds demand. Irs why comic characters have so many anti-feats as they struggle to create original stories

Exactly also he was holding back against Kraven, the person he hates to hell. Kraven said so, so when he gets pit against miles, I don't think he would be fighting at full strength. It shows as they fight he is trying to retain himself. Miles reaches to him and we occasionally hear what Peter really has to say. He knows the suit was bad, but he was struggling to fight its urges.

At the end of no way home, MCU spiderman absolutely THRASHED goblin and it wasn't even close even though holland peter was fairly injured in that battle. I think its fair to say in their first bout, tom holland was holding back a lot, at the time he wasn't straight up trying to kill goblin (He was still trying to cure them) As for encounters with the aliens. I believe that against aliens, Peter doesn't hold back (Seeing how he fully utilizes instant kill mode with his suit as seen in endgame) How Tom Holland Peter fights against people is fundamentally different from his feats against aliens.

16:22 so I have a head canon that the version of Insomniac Peter in the Spider-Verse events is from New Game+ since in the first game’s NG+ story it skips over Otto being like “hey Pete, check out this new costume!” And just has Peter say “that oughta do it” and he has the white spider. It’s how you can have him be in the multiverse and also not. So the rest of the story plays out pretty much as in the main timeline except sometimes they’re in the multiverse.

It was shown that, he can use similar abilities to other symbiotes like venom and he has great healing abilities. Plus. His abilities to take away radiation, would be a heavy impact on tobey.

8:06 Tobey did not take a grenade that vaporized other people. If you pay attention, the grenade that skeletonized the people on the balcony let out a green light that vaporized them. Tobey took a regular grenade that just blew up. Still impressive, but he’s not durable enough to withstand vaporization. Goblin was trying to torture him, not kill him out right.

I dont think he will get a significantly better upgrades than green goblin. These upgrades could go more towards efficiency.

Insom performed the train feat one time offscreen, one time in his first game, and then failed to do it in the latest one. I will say one thing, Raimi Peter beat venom and has dealt with Symbiotes before, yes, but Yuri Peter's Anti-Venom is immune to the sound weakness, as seen by your sonic burst and environment sound weapons not affecting you. For the 2:47 part, I can see your point on why you’d think that Miles’ durability scales to it, but I do have some personal contentions with it myself. Of course Miles would be struggling, not only this is his first time utilizing his Venom power (or well, first couple of days) to not only absorb and output energy, but thus bomb is enough theoretical force to potentially destroy an entire city, so with this- the way that he handles electricity would vary, but that doesn’t mean his “baseline durability” is now relative to it by conventional means whatsoever. And this would make sense, as it’s portrayed numerous times that his venom power> his striking strength.

Scaling insomniac spiderman to Miles feat of enduring enough energy to destroy Harlem is far fetched , since in the fight he doesn't hurt Miles nearly as much as performing that feat did . That much energy was a one time thing which did show his ridiculous durability but didn't stay in him for his Venom blasts to scale to that either. Insomniac symbiote spiderman also got his arm broken by a fall of about 50 stories while chasing lizard , and we see Raimi base spiderman fall from 60 stories while fighting Venom mid air and he gets no such injury . I thought it was 70 stories at first by estimating it with the statement in the movie that MJ was stuck 80 stories above the ground , but a statement you show from novelization says it's 60 , still it proves Raimi spiderman has significantly greater durability with a direct comparison of similar situations , and he takes several of the giant sandman hits that caused quakes in the same fight . In terms of striking strength Raimi spiderman pushed back Giant Sandman with his hit while insomniac could only manage moving the head a little to the same , also remember that Raimi Giant Sandman wasn't pure sand but pieces of concrete packed with his sand body which makes him denser and heavier than he'd be with just sand . Ik how lifting strength doesn't really come into play in a fight like this but it seems very hard to believe that a character with similar abilities who's stated to be capable of upto 10 tons of lifting( in insomniac spiderman character bio of first game) and only struggles against greater requirements even as far as admitting his inability in this game with " i'm ..sorry " to the civilians implying he'd fail without Harry's help , can outclass one with much greater strength in lifting , pulling , grip in terms of striking strength . Now ik i haven't proved how Tobey's spiderman has greater striking strength than the symbiote version of insomniac , but what do we know about his striking strength in symbiote ? Just that it got boosted to a similar level like Agent Venom's . The strength feat of tendrills was shown lifting 200 tons , base insomniac got pushed by the ferris wheel until it went against the metal structure he was on , so he can't be considered to have stopped it all by himself as i've seen some people say . So that 200 tons from the symbiote is pretty ridiculous strength boost , but not enough to compare to Raimi spiderman's. Insomniac symbiote spiderman is beat in striking strength and durability by Raimi movie spiderman.

The falls in my opinion aren't comparable. Insomniac was on top of lizard and fell through solid concrete to the sewers below. Tobey fell yes but just barely slowed himself down into a roll rather than going straight through the ground.

After the first impact on ground which insomniac did not take for the most part compared to lizard , the fall would already not be that strong . Venom still pushed Tobey downwards making him fall with greater velocity than he already would be in the freefall . I think the giant pile of sand and concrete emerging from that ground moments later was a good reason for him not falling through it , and the roll itself shows his level at withstanding a fall , not how powerful the fall is . Taking large building levels to get broken bones is still a step up for insomniac compared to his base but he's still not ridiculous enough just yet .

We see electro fire lightning at him and while it’s coming insomniac Peter dodges it in game mechanics and cutscenes. Also electro can move and react at lightning speed and peter and kraven( who neg diffed him) can tag him and beat him.

i enjoyed the raimi movies more for the story and emotional roller coasters tied to peter parker and spiderman , TASM followed the formula had more focus towards spidey , but i’m not attached as much to Tom holland at all for some reason
