Every loss the heroes have succumbed after this chapter has partially, mostly been because of Megumi's inaction _right. Here._ Everyone knows Megumi is grieving, we all know *why* he's grieving, hell we can cut him some slack for not being 100% because he's lost so much and he's grieving. What most of the hate and fraud allegations are addressing is that Megumi is still conscious enough to utter these words. Had Megumi said nothing and was actually a vegetable, he could then be forgiven (and fraud watch be weakened) because everything that happened prior to this moment could then be *_solely_* chalked up to Sukuna's efforts to break him. But he said words, intelligible ones at that. Which means that there's _some part of him_ that's still present in all this. Some part that has a chance to *DO SOMETHING.* The internet likes to throw around the word "hopium" as a joke or to be condescending, but it's proper usage is for situations _just like this._ when all seems lost there's that olive branch, that little bit of an out, a light in a sea of darkness that he can run toward. In this case that light is Yuji, but not just Yuji, EVERYONE who's fighting Sukuna rn (sans Miguel and Larue). Yuji was right there. He doesn't have to have insane amounts of mental fortitude like Yuji or his classmates, but you're telling me he has absolutely 0 drive? 0 want to attempt ANYTHING to get back at the very man abusing and using HIS body while he watches? Not even a single atom raised in defiance to the man who ruined his life? Even if it seems helpless for him Yuji was RIGHT THERE. He reached him, yuji didn't have to say anything really, the fact he got to him would be enough for ANYONE to feel at least *some* hope. But no, he does nothing. And the chapters that follow are the result of his doing nothing. This is great writing about what happens when you say nah to moments like this, not many stories tackle this "moment of choice" and NOT have characters lock tf in, much less explore the consequences of said inaction esp in the heat of the final battle, where everything is on the line. Now we're seeing a level of desperation from the heroes that I have not seen explored in a lot of fiction and I love Gege for doing that. It's narratively an amazing choice to go with Megumi's inaction at the moment he could've done something. With that said, just because we know his situation and know how great of a choice it is for the story to go this route, doesn't mean people: A. Can not dislike him for dropping the ball at a crucial moment like this; B. Can't continue calling him a fraud because he sold the bag. No matter the reason, no matter how reasonable the grief is, he can put that aside cause, in his own speech, he's a Jujitsu Sorcerer and fight Sukuna from the inside and grieve properly after getting back at the man who hurt his friends and family who's *RIGHT THERE.* Noah put it best with the Fortnite analogy. Megumi quit out right before Yuji got there and now the rest of the team might lose because Meg's bum ass made Yuji's (and the rest's) attempt to get him pointless. We may know *why* he's selling the bag here, but he's still _selling the bag_ at the now cost of even MORE lives he holds dear. He can only be cut some slack if the ball (him being conscious and aware of what's going on currently to do something) wasn't in his court.
