Reason to get childe: riptide and nuke That's the reason i have been using childe since release and still find him unique and fun despite having others amazing hydro units Riptide is kind of the same with beidou counter attack, something special about their kit that makes them irreplaceable and fun

.....childes hydro app also has icd....it just happens that he has riptide and his combos make it so that his hydro app is more than enough for international. Does not mean he suddenly does not have icd, ayato has icd but his fast hits makes him also a good driver. Everyone has icd....except xiangling, but their way of getting around it is what makes them good or bad.

@@Konomidebanshouwashikisesur yes, everything has icd, but his riptide has independent icd so its much better and increases his hydro app since it is woven in with normal attacks and CA and burst. But the point is that childe has icd, just like ayato. Its just that his riptide and his icd in general and the quadratic scaling with multiple enemies makes him uniquely amazing for international.

If there's one team for a character, and that team has been op af for the whole duration of the game, never really countered.... Then I don't think that character lost any value.

I believe that his value lies more in the fact that while his team is still very strong, we have also gotten a lot more options to utilize since then. So the chances of you wanting to play international versus other team comps (that likely have units that work in multiple different teams versus just one) is lowered. Like a lot of Childe’s initial value came from the fact that he freed up Xingqiu for your other team. Well we now have Kokomi, Ayato, and especially Yelan who can serve a similar purpose of freeing up Xingqiu. They may not be the best for International like Childe, but they also have more team comps they can more easily slot into.

⁠⁠@@nyxnsuThing is there’s two different types of investment and even if now Childes Horizontal investment isn’t as good his vertical value is arguably one of the best period due to the power of international. Having so many hydro characters becomes redundant if u can just invest into 2 and get more value from those than u would a character with more comps of lesser value. I own all hydros and I go to Childe xq/yelan for mostly everything w kokomi situationally

Hard disagree. The more competition character have - the less "value" it have as a character. National is indeed op, but it's bennet+xiangling is op and irreplacable there, not a tartaglia. And national has TONS of alternatives to put as a driver/enabler there. As zajef said, childe comp is harder to play, so he isn't as popular as other options. Instead of strictly controlling his E cooldowns and stamina, many people would just put, for example, raiden there and autoclicked the opponent to the death with unlimited poise as a bonus.

The thing is the other 5 star hydro characters work way better in multiple teams while by no means is Childe weak he's not the most flexible unit.

@@nyxnsuI think being a BiS in the most versatile and broken team in game (Childe) has more value than being a versatile character who fits many good teams but never the BiS(Ayato). At the end of the day you can only play the versatile character in one team in the abyss not in multiple teams, and considering International never gets countered Childe's own versatility is rarely a problem in abyss, he has always been consistent. Of course if you want to have fun using many different comps Ayato might be a better choice for you but looking from a meta point of view Childe is the character who has more pull value.

Does TF even work with his kit? afaik TF only reduces cooldown as long as a cooldown is active. But Childe's CD only starts when he exits his melee stance. Correct me if I'm wrong tho.

Childe International has been out for god knows how many patches. It's a bit practice oriented, but the outcome is worth it. It's still viable & I fully cleared multiple Abyss with it. . and Childe is a very fun character to play even at C0(mine's C0 too). Almost all accounts has Kazuha coz how broken he is. Bennett is also low investment and broken support that everyone has. Xiangling is free and just needs emblems + ER. . . Overall Not really high investment, but high output team.

I’ve honestly been using Childe in a Nilou bloom team for a few months now (Childe/Nilou/Baizhu/Nahida) and it definitely feels alot better to play than any of the Kokomi variants largely because the party isn’t really burst dependent. Add to that Baizhu makes the entire team pretty much immortal without taking too much field time unlike Kokomi or Yaoyao so the rotations are alot smoother. You can go ungga bungga without even looking at your HP bars even once.

Depends on your priorities, but I always say play your favorites so go for Childe. Zhongli has the best shield, but there are plenty of other shielder options you can use until his rerun.

Always husbando over meta however it depends how much you need Zhongli’s shield. If you’re struggling really badly in your teams then Zhongli to complete some teams with that but if you’re not that reliant and willing to learn complicated combos then Childe

You shouldn't ask randos and ultimately decide yourself. If you already clear abyss fine go for whatever you like. If you don't complete abyss fine go for what you need. If you don't complete abyss fine but don't really care about it go for whatever you like. In the end it's a game, go for whatever you think will give you the most fun

I have a feeling the fact we're holding Childe's vision is a death flag bait and we're going to get his Delusion form. I wouldn't even be mad if it simply had the same kit, but electro. But maybe I'd rather they sold it differently, like a skin. Childe does have a use outside of international because the game is more about events than Spiral Abyss. Any time you have aoe content in terms of being able to tightly pack enemies Childe is #1. And then Venti doing Burning or "Air Fryer" as one might say. If you want to Freeze Venti+Ayato+Shenhe+Ganyu is also great. But yeah I always get that dopamine when I can get Childe to simultaneously hit 3+ targets with his attacks. Oh, and any content that has an enemy with a permanent pyro auro lol. Xingqiu is also good for that obviously but Childe is something of a force multiplier for that since he also applies massive amounts of hydro. We do have content like that with Pyro Hypostasis and the Abyss lectors. His Tazer isn't awful either. There may be a future world where we need to drown a Dendro aura as well too that he'd be good in.

because childe is best at being enabler while ayato is optimal in hypercarry role, but yeah that's his best team comp with xiangling, bennett and kazuha, i guess ayato advantage is not dependent on these meta support (circle impact)

Childe is better mainly because he can overtake Xiangling-Kazuha application with just skill while Ayato needs his whole kit to be able to do so making him less comfortable as a Vape enabler. In teams where Childe himself can't overtake the application like Burgeon Xiangling, he too feels very bad to play. Also his burst is left untouched which can be use as wave cleaner with Vape while Ayato doesn't have anything of the sort. Finally for better or worse, he's a bow user meaning situation that cucks other team like Drake he can get away with it. As well as start rotation from afar too. Delusion Childe depending on how his skill cd will work can end up be a better Keqing. Superior damage and AoE. He applies more electro, I think for more Fischl damage too. Overall, he probably will be worse than Hydro Childe at low cons by not having no frontload. That aggravate burst nuke is not doing any of the damage of the Vape version. But he will be more versatile instead of being tied to Xiangling-Bennett-Kazuha/Sucrose, he could have Fischl/Beidou/Yae-Nahida/YaoYao/Kirara/Baizhu-Kazua/Sucrose. At higher cons Yae and Nahida will carry him as only C2 Kazuha is a huge upgrade for Inter Childe but so it is for Aggra, Still I really dunno if his skill mechanic will allow him to play a more sustain reaction, it's unlikely to one rotate in comparison to inter, after all Tazer exist.

If you already can clear abyss in every rotation there is no need to lock yourself into thinking that building and playing two teams is a must. If you like childe you can just pull for him, build a new team and enjoy different characters and playstyles if that is your thing

The only problem with Childe is he has one good type of team that he truly excels in. His rotation without C6 can put some people off as they don’t want to micromanage his E cooldown time which is understandable. Mostly just up to whether you like his play style at this point. International teams used to be the only good meta teams at the beginning of Genshin but with the rise of hyperbloom etc you really don’t have to lock yourself into international. Heck you can beat abyss 12 very easily with mono geo so I wouldn’t worry about getting Childe unless you like his design and play style.

I think they meant it as hopefully Arlecchino will give him more team options making him more flexible because let’s be honest, he only has 1 good(albeit amazing) team. In literally every other team that requires hydro application, Xingqui is just better since he’s an off fielder and Ayato would just be the better option for an on fielder.

something really underrated about ayato is his versatility, he can work in many many teams, there's hyperbloom, vape, freeze, nilou bloom, taser, hypercarry, etc all with multiple variations (aka; he's not tied to one specific unit) and he can also do off-field very well. in comparison childe only has one team, and it's a really good and fun one, but the lack of team versatility is there.

@@MrGshinobi Ayato's off-field has as much utility as Ganyu's aka barely any. If you need off-field hydro, Kokomi with TTDS + ToM has more value or just use XQ/Yelan

@@Ivy-jq6di ayato has better aoe and damage and some units may not benefit from atk, also ayatos off field presence isnt meant to be purely off field, he still goes on field but the burst gives him off field presence, so in teams where you dont need healing and/or dont care much about the atk buffs kokomi can give, ayato is better. also i think you are underestimating ganyus burst

To be honest they are both good, it's matter of who you enjoy playing Ayato is more simple and casual friendly fast attack, on field and of field Childe have riptide and can nuke with CD freedom It's hard to compare them because they have different concept It's like comparing vanilla and chocolate ice cream, they are both ice cream but they have different flavor

@@Ivy-jq6di i have a feeling he might powercreep ayato in taser not sure in dendro teams in dendro teams you want more application and idk if bloom counts for his passive to activate since it has to be him to trigger the reaction. i heard that it's possible he can beat childe international team but only in single target, but the problem is that he probably won't make use of bennett's buffs.

Fastest on-field hydro application for a certain duration* As many teams don't necessarily want that, preferring off-field and/or consistent application, Childe is not automatically the "best" hydro application in all cases.

I hope they wont release childe electro version. Or if they does, make it an toggleable evolution at lvl 100 or something like that. I have always hated how character in honkai keep getting repetitive version "battlesuit" of the same character, it make me harder to simp/invest for one particular char because it will all be thrown in trash when a new better version came out

ayato is a specialist in all kind of bloom teams. childe frontloaded application is too much that burgeon/hb trigger detonates all seeds at once. additionally, as zajef says in the video childe isnt good in nilou bloom bc he often wipes out dendro aura

@@nd6096 bloom. yes. why? its bc seeds dont pop until there are more than 5 of them and after 4s iirc nilou/burgeon/hb. nah. its bc enemies can take at most 2 bloom dmg/0.5s. as a result, the faster u create seeds the greater the number of seeds gets wasted

I don't see why it would be "copium", me not finding a character fun to play has nothing to do with "copium" if you don’t mean dmg💀

Ayato is so much better if you can't finish a fight in a single rotation though. Childe got stuck with his cooldown in multiple rotation.

Never said he's unplayable. Just saying Ayato is better if more than a single rotation. Childe cooldown is like 5 seconds up after XL and Ben cooldown are ready. Not unplayable, just very annoying to play with.@@mangshu21

@@nd6096That's only at hyper investment where his burst one shots entire waves/kills half the boss tho (so not only match-up dependant but also many times even needing crit fishing for it). I reckon that's valuable but only for like 1% or less of the community that have accounts with that much raw power. The moment you step out of those situations the difference in time clears between Ayato's and Childe's nationals become negligible because Childe's damage after his nuke drops significantly while Ayato ends up catching up thanks to his higher sustained damage.

@@Merquitarika Ayato's E dmg isnt even higher than Childe's they have almost similar scaling on their E, Childe's burst makes the difference and its extremely important for fast clears. But thats not the only factor, Xiangling isnt getting good uptime on vape because of Ayato's short 6 second hydro application and inconsistent hydro application , and its almost impossible to Kazuha double swirl both hydro and pyro with Ayato, that also makes a massive difference.

@@Merquitarika Hyper investment in a character whose constellations barely increase his damage? You've got to be joking. I have C0 Childe and Polar Star R1 and that's enough to curbstomp abyss on top of enabling Xiangling's vapes. Ayato does not apply enough hydro to do that

@@venkat5446 that seems to be the case, yeah. Childe is an enabler so he will always be Xiangling's best buddy but Ayato is a dps, and one that requires a LOT of vertical investment, so Neuvillette will powercreep him to hell and back with his hp scalling and higher multipliers

@@cristianavideira2545 but you can also call it his main selling point - he is universal. You can put him anywhere and he can perform. Childe is a big "no no" on that. BiS place is important, but mostly only matters for min-maxers. Others like to play different team compositions, so ayato might be a better choice.

If there's one team for a character, and that team has been op af for the whole duration of the game, never really countered.... Then I don't think that character lost any value.

It loses value in the sense that the specific team it is strongest in is loses its favor for account strength/progression. It's similar to how pyro as an element lost value due to dendro despite having some of the strongest teams/characters focused on its element. Right now the only competitive Childe team is International. Compared to someone like Alhaitham who has spread teams, aggravate teams, hyperbloom/quickbloom teams which are all quite strong in the meta, and it becomes more obvious how a character like Childe lost value. For instance, why does a character like Bennet or Kazuha not lose value despite there being more characters/teams that aren't dependent on them?

The argument is that now there's other things on the same level as the team so you don't need them team anymore strictly speaking In the past xiangling was like the best dps in the game hands down but nowadays there's so many teams that you don't need a xiangling team

@@nathanaelpierre9439 quicken has two variations. Electro+ dendro is quicken, dendro on quicken is spread, electro on quicken is aggravate, Alhaitham's team isnt aggravate since he applies a lot of dendro by staying on field. Aggravate is something like on field Keqing

Well International can pretty much clear almost any kind of content the game throws at you, I won't say it lost value that much. It's just that other teams will perform better at every other Abyss Rotations, like let's say we have Cryo Abyss Heralds, suddenly Bloom related teams lost value but ya boi Childe and his team can still clear it just fine.
