They should have done it double track instead of single track.. If you are already spending 28000 Cr,, it is better to spend 3 , 4 thousand Cr extra and make it double track.. Later a need will be felt 15yrs 20 yrs down the line,, then the cost will be escalated further and the way it is done now,, we have to look at a new alignment.

This project is biggest stupidity of Indian Railways. Instead of broad gauge, standard or meter gauge would have saved more than 50% of time and money. Imagine, if Chenab bridge is destroyed by hostile country or terrorists, how much time it will take to repair or replace it. Had it been standard/meter gauge, the bridge would have small and easily repairable. The lack of foresight is evident in different gauges of Delhi metro. SMH.
