Thank you (for your channel and advice). So, I brushed my teeth growing up having seen smokers teeth and that had an impact. I was very fortunate I didn't need a brace etc. However, as I grew up I would go through the motions, not doing the detail needed. I was awarded with whitish teeth, no bad breath or pain, so I felt I was winning ... Now 35 Y/O and with the dentist shortage here in the UK experienced a tooth split. It was crowded a tooth and just enough to cause a symptomless cavity under the gumline. The front of the tooth was saved and the back packed with dentist cement as a temp fix. Now saving (money) for a root canal from February. Since this I have invested and taken heed of the basics again. I pay for my dentist while on a four year NHS waiting list! I also found I have bruxism. Having a stressful job, my default is to clench my back teeth and being single, no one to mention it. I didn't Iink my jaw ache and the tension headaches waking up to my teeth. Now I have a sleep guard. I really do feel the difference through your channel! P.S My last hurdle r.e Bruxism. Any advice on remembering to wear the guard. I find myself napping after work and I'm sure my brain doesn't pick and choose ... A long story but I've been wanting to say 'thank you' for a long time.

I had to have a root planing/deep clean treatment last year, but it was especially bad in this area because I have a fixed retainer which has been in place since my teens, and I’m 40 years old now. It was so hard to floss there that I just didn’t even try. Now I am diligent about brushing/flossing after I eat and using the interdental flossers in this area.

Really great advice. If I had one thing to say to young(er) people it would be this: pay attention to your dental hygiene. Paying for professional dental hygiene appointments in your 20s, 30s, and 40s is an investment that will pay dividends in terms of comfort, happiness, and physical well-being far out of proportion to the money spent. No matter how well you brush and floss, you still need to regularly get professional dental hygiene appointments. Your hygienist will not only get your teeth spotlessly clean, but they'll also be able to identify potential problems long before they cause irreparable problems. And this is an important point: IRREPARABLE damage can happen to your gums and jaw bone tissue if you allow tartar to remain in place. On a microscopic scale, think about tartar as tiny saw blades constantly irritating your soft gum tissue, leading to inflammation. Once inflamed, the infection can lead to loss a jaw bone tissue. And this cannot be repaired or replaced. 21st century dental medicine is a truly fantastic gift. Take advantage of it. If you do, you may well live into your later years free of the misery of tooth loss, dentures, bleeding gums, etc. that bedevil so many middle-aged and older people today. Dental hygienists are your friend. See him or her on a regular basis, and you'll be a much happier person.

Do you recommend this and does it make a difference which style it is?

I discovered xylitol right after having a dental cleaning. I would develop plaque immediately after a cleaning. Why? Because my dentist removed my entire mouth microbiome while at my dental cleaning. She suggested having a deep cleaning every three months. Well nine months later no plaque???? Why???? Because I didn’t go back to my dentist. Instead chewed Pure gum after meals about six pieces a day. At night I used Closys ultra sensitive mouth rinse after brushing and I 0:15 never flossed in nine months. I have gum recession due to the trauma your gums go through when flossing or using those dental flossers with bristles. My two bottom front teeth were loose and I was told they would only get looser. Guess what they are no longer loose. My gums are healing due to me using my toothbrush bristles to massage my gums. I now have less gum recession around those two loose teeth. Oh I I healed a cavity with my own saliva. Yes when you chew xylitol gum you can fill a cavity that hasn’t progressed through the dentin of your tooth. It takes about four months to remineralize using your own saliva. Do your own research and know that I am telling you the truth. My teeth nine months later feel just like they did right after a cleaning. You know that feeling that tells you you don’t need to floss the day of your cleaning. Yes that feeling. Just learn to stop snacking between meals and you will never need another dental cleaning.

Hi whitney. I just discovered i have a broken tooth in the back. I tried to call a dentist but its the weekend. Crazy thing is i never felt tooth sensitivity. I been using floride rinse every day. Now im nervous how long i had this. Cause i can see a hole. Its like orange looking. I also floss but i guess this molar i have been neglecting. I brush my teeth but not as much as i should, and i usually use just water on the brush. Curious if ive been having these headaches from this, i thought were stress tension headaches. Might have been a sinus infection all along.

@@user-rz3rl9ol9x Mouth tape as the name implies is tape that you use to ensure that your mouth keeps shut when you sleep. For optimal oral and overall health, we should ideally breath through our nose the majority of the day. Another benefit of mouth tape is it prevents people from dribbling on their pillow and keeps the teeth saturated with saliva helping to remineralize the teeth while you sleep.

Saliva is the most important part of a healthy biome and cleans your teeth. Saliva is what you want to promote to have a healthy microbiome. "Saliva, or “spit”, is an extracellular fluid produced by the salivary glands in the mouth. Saliva carries important enzymes that break down food particles, which is the first stage of the digestion process. It also delivers minerals and other nutrients to your teeth that teeth use to remineralize"

I floss after every meal and before brushing in the morning and at night. It’s a habit I made during my treatment with clear aligners and it has eliminated the tartar build up I used to get on the back of my bottom front teeth. 😊

Following an extremely low carb keto or carnivore diet has eliminated this problem for me. In Fact sometimes a floss pick will dislodge any plaque if I have it because it’s so weak.

Only if you're brushing before AND after breakfast -- some people prefer to not have the toothpaste in their mouth prior to eating/drinking because they feel the minty taste does not go away. I've never had that problem though!

1. Why use just water in the morning before breakfast. What does that do? 2. When you mentioned about flossing after eating high carb snacks, do you have to wait 30 minutes to floss?

Her nutrition sounds bad. I mean, really bad. Or she's eating too much sugar and starch. If she's taking good care of her teeth and she still has so much trouble, then it's her diet, one way or another.

These same teeth in my mouth are kinda long (gum recession). Everything else is fine. I was using a medium brush. Now I brush gently with a soft toothbrush. A visit to the dentist wouldn't make sense for a little bit of recession. These teeth suck!!

I don't know if you guys respond to comments. So, I goot root canal treatment years ago. The doctor did root canol of 2 of my molar teeth and placed a bridge crown. The enamel on dental crown vore away and exposed the steel. It became uneven. when I bite it only puts pressure on one teeth. I also feel slight pain on this teeth when I bite these days. Everday when I press the sides of the gum at this bridge teeth. I get some kind of puss? I can also feel the crown bit lose if I observe close. Could this be the sement that is coming off as puss or its bacterial gum infection? I can only see the puss when I press the gums. I do think I need crown replacement because one of the teeth not touching because of enamel wore off and the pain now I am getting may be because the biting putting pressure on my other teeth.

The root canal is a dead tooth that needs to be removed not left and sealed to fester. Seek a holistic Dentist to get cone beam imaging done.

@@Rootedremediespodcast Thank you for your response. Are you suggesting that I need to get removed the these 2 mollar teeth that got root canal done and placed a bridge crown on it? If these tooth are removed then I may need to get dental implant done but It can get more complex and I have trust issues on doctors handling this. What type of dentist should I contact for expert job?

@@AutodidactEngineer didn't think of those, however I definitely still would not want to stick a needle in my mouth! That's an accident waiting to happen if it gets stuck in some calculus, you press too hard and slip. Maybe if you bent it? Still I'd be worried it's too sharp and might damage enamel more than dedicated tool.
