Another factor to mention is the pricing. Here in Sweden they are about 18000 or 1325 gbp, and thats a huge factor for many golfers.

Very simple answer for me--My PXG 0211s were about half the price for the same type of club and were easy to get custom fit. I'll always go for the performance I want at the lowest price possible.

Same here. My 0211s simply work and feel petty good doing it. I used to play forged Mizunos and they were butter, especially on center strikes. So I have little doubt that these new Mizunos are softer feeling than the 0211's but are they twice the price better? My money said no.

Bought a set of 5 through Gap in Dec. Purest irons I’ve ever hit. Long, penetrating flight but still getting 6,000 revs on a 7 iron. No issues with hot spots or jumpers like with my i500s. Very happy so far.

I went to a fitting fully expecting to find these the best for me, but the fitter gave me the JPX 923 Forged to try first, and that one felt unbelievably good, with excellent spin, landing angle, stopping power, dispersion, etc. In comparison I found the Pro 245 hard, clicky, with less consistent distance. It just didn’t perform as well for me as the older, cheaper JPX 923 Forged, which was also better than the TaylorMades, Pings and any of the other brands and models I tried.
@luda_yanez4302

I had the opposite experience. Now I didn’t buy any, I was curious how they felt against each other. And for me the forged was soft, but I lost distance. The 245 I was bombing and getting more spin where it didn’t roll out. i didn’t feel a lot of control though from the face, it was just hit and see where it went even when trying to hit draws.I currently play the jpx 850 and chose them over the Wilson c100 which they cost me 15 yards. But I’m feeling it’s time for an upgrade. Just haven’t dedicated the time to get fitted for a specific set

Pretty simple really: price. When I got fitted for my irons, I tried Titleist, Cobra, Ping, Mizuno and Wilson. The Mizunos were head and shoulders above the rest, but so was their price. I went with Wilson, which were almost 40% less than the Mizunos but not far off in every other regard.

Mizuno doesn't market to the masses. They are well known among mId to low handicap golfers, but are on the expensive side ($1600) and perhaps the Pro line also has a bit of an intimidation factor. p.s. Luke Donald is playing the 245s too
@waywardwest
@waywardwest 3 ай бұрын
I think that's exactly it. Good players that are familiar with Mizuno put them in the bag and don't change clubs that often. Higher handicap golfers are intimidated by the brand because they have always been marketed as a better players irons and they aren't going to spend that kind of money on clubs that they think they aren't good enough to play. Mizuno has never been a company to market their clubs rather they rely on their reputation to sell their merchandise, at least in the US market. When I was stationed in Japan they marketed their clubs pretty well but golf is more a status symbol there so it really, matters what's in your bag when everyone has Miura, Honma, and other super expensive forged irons.

The problem is that this year the hollow body iron market is packed with really great clubs. 245 is a great club, but so is i530 (more marketing), T200 (again more marketing), P790, P770, PXG, Srixon ZX4, Cobra King Forged TEC, Apex Pro and that is just naming the bigger brands. And they are all pretty clubs. The competition in the hollow bodied market is insane this year.

I played the PING I230’s last year and they were great irons. I tried the Mizuno 245’s and immediately ordered a set. They are longer, fly higher, feel better, and are more forgiving than anything I’ve ever tried. Arguably, the best looking irons in the category of players distance irons. At $200 a club, they are pricey. I would suggest that golfers give these a try if they are looking for more out of their game. I was not disappointed.

@drewpee7 do have great short game and poor ball striking? Do you need wide sole? I'm the opposite (decent ball striking, weak short game, can't play wider sole irons) and so even at a 13 Hcp the Mizuno Pro 225's were very comfortable. Also a comparison to Titliest irons if any help in calibrating: the T300 sole too fat, the T200 pefect - similar to P225's and the T150's just a bit scary size wide and unforgiving. But at that much money do get fit!

Best irons I've played, and I've played almost every brand, were a set of Mizuno MX-20s. I almost never tried them because of their size and offset but so glad I did. Now every iron I try I keep comparing to them. My current set, Callaway Apex 21s are close. I am going to try the 245, 243, and Srixon ZX5 this week. I swear if I could find a new set of MX-20s I'd buy them in a heartbeat. The sole grind on the MX model was perfect for my swing and conditions where I play. I can't find any great images of these new Mizunos to compare which is why I'm also looking at the Srixons. I really like their "V" sole for playability.

Honestly, the reason I’m not looking at a set of these is price. 1300 USD before tax and shipping is hard to stomach. When their competitors (and don't mean Takomo, Caley, Sub70, etc though they are good options) like the Ping Is and Blueprints, Titleist 620, Cobra King Forged etc are all around that 1000 dollar mark. Hell even with Mizuno itself you have options in the form of the hot metal pro and forged. Now if you want a hollow body that looks like a blade these are hard to beat. But I've played with cavity backs my whole life. So the blade look isn't a must for me.

I play the 225's, the predecessor of the 245's. They are excellent and I plan to have them for years. Much competition in that space, but the Mizuno's won out for me. I think price is a little too high as well.

In all my years I can't say that I've ever seen a set of Mizuno irons in an everyday Joe's golf bag. I think the name Mizuno is bonded with the idea of becoming serious about your golf game. They are a higher end golf club both in cost and performance. And with the economy the way it is in my part of the world, folks are having to cut unnecessary expenses. Over the last few years I've replaced all of the golf clubs in my bag. And my bag too. It was long overdue. It was expensive. The cost of clubs now and what they were 12+ years ago had definitely shot up. But i saved for it. My next go round won't be as long in between and I'm going to have to be looking at either older, more affordable models or go with some of the higher performance moderate costs items like the Wilson irons mentioned or perhaps a direct to consumer brand like Tacomo. There has to be some money left in the jar for green fees. Ah, there's a whole other conversation - the rise of green fees.

Simply the best Irons on the market. I agree, they don’t spend the money on advertising and they don’t have enough top tour players gaming their equipment. In many ways Mizuno is the best kept secret in the golf industry.

Imo the JPX 923 forged feels better than 245. I think it’s because the forged is well, forged and the 245 is hollow body. The 923 forged is highly underrated.

would play them, good enough for Luke Donald then good enough for me. i’m wondering if his lofts are bent traditional (and if any bounce needed to be tweaked bc of it), which would max out my interest in them…

The lie angles are to flat for me, I need 64.25 7iron (245 is 61.5), my wrist to floor is 38.5 inches, or between Ping white/silver dot. They can be bent to 63.5 but that is still to flat. In the US they can apparently get factory heads at 63 which can be bent up to 65, but when I emailed Mizuno Europe they could not provide them. They are more expensive but they have a premium copper underlay and are Made in their Historical country of Japan, which has a dearer labour market. They also have Steelfiber as an option, I really like them.

Hi Andy and cheers from Ottawa Canada. I noticed you wear a PXG hat and glove. Did you select these clubs or are you sponsored? I personal play an old set of Hogan Apex 2- L wedge. Prior to those, I had a set of Mizuno and loved them. Best of health to you. Keep making these amazing videos. 🇨🇦💝🙏👍

I think Mizuno is making a mistake calling their 225 irons a "Players Distance Iron". It should be called a "Distance dispersion killer" - because what it does really well is give you more distance overall, but also reduces the distance lost on mishit shots. Tightening the dispersion of the distance for each iron. I was hitting the 7 iron 175-180 - but decided to increase the loft for each iron 4 degrees (back to 34 degrees - alittle more traditional) and still carry 165-170 but gives me a higher ball flight option - but still allows me to knock down my ball flight when needed. These clubs give me the opportunity to do this and still gain distance and significantly tighten up my distance dispersion. The technology in these irons are fantastic.

Just curious how the clubs are interacting with the turf after weakening the lofts that much? I've seen ppl say in forums before if you change the loft by more than 2 degrees then the turf interaction will be impacted
@user-ob2td1lj3b
@user-ob2td1lj3b 3 ай бұрын
@@bh4872 - for me the ounce increased because I reduced the loft - because my attack angle is not considered excessively steep I didn't really have to change the bounce (verified at my club fitter after my irons lofts and lie angle were readjusted. Just played another round this morning and one of my playing partners is now getting fitted after hitting my clubs.

I had the same reservations as you about the strong lofts (Pro 245 AND JPX 923 Forged), but I found I got plenty of spin with these newer clubs. I recommend you try the Pro 245 and JPX 923 Forged head to head and see which you prefer. Try a few others too. For me the clear winner was JPX 923 Forged.

No one likes a Mizuno, until they hit one, then they understand why they have a cult following, I always played Titleist, then I borrowed a set of Mizuno mp 33's. I haven't touched another brand since.

If they had less off set and cost 400 dollars per set, I would be first in line. Many of us simply cannot afford the price of these clubs. Plus they have too much off set! I find it impossible to figure out where to play the ball with all the off set clubs have today. I might buy a hardly used set of MP 32 s on eBay, but I cannot pay 1200-1400 dollars for a set of irons. You want to send me a set that are 6 degrees flat I would love to have a set of 245s.
