I think it's really weird how he has no bleed on his attacks since Obsidian is known for its sharpness and the nasty wounds it makes.

My general take is that while his aesthetic rocks, the actual move set is kinda lacking. He’s got the usual effective stuff but just no extra depth that would identify him as a unique character outside of a stance that kinda sucks save for niche uses

For me personally it's because his hyper armor is only accessible through his super slow zone which is very awkward to feint on controller

probably because people may think he's boring? he's just a bash infinite chain. We have a lot of heroes like that already. Or.. people just don't like playing him? My opinion aligns with both. He's boring, and I don't like playing him. Though, I've seen him a lot more. Pretty much every other match.

It’s gotten to the point where if you don’t have hyperarmor or an unblockable your aren’t even a tier.

I see plently of people playing. At least one every match(different players ofc). The reason why there isnt multiple is because how basic and linear he is. The only unique thing about him is the prowler stance and that is only used on specific situations(ganking really).

I have two big problems with him: 1. He essentially doesn’t have an opener. Though his in chain mixup is rather strong, when he struggles to get into it it doesn’t really matter. I think an okay change would be to make his bash as fast as medjays, since it does the same damage and ocelotls is currently the worst bash in the game. 2. His team fighting kind of sucks. Ocelotls hyper armor in chain zones have rather large hit boxes, but they only deal 22 damage unless I’m mistaken. This means that ocelotl loses every trade that isn’t a light, and he doesn’t have enough health to not get deleted before he deletes his opponents. Plus it’s so slow that you can dodge attack it and still block. His gank is very oppressive but so is 90 percent of the rosters. There’s just no reason to play him instead of someone like medjay.

I think it's because people are finally figuring out that Ocelotl isnt actually a good Hero.

Looks cool, but i was expecting a bleed and i think that really dented my opinion… ontop of that i feel like i have to land so many hits bc his heavies are so hard to land due to their obvious animations

I personally like to play Ocelotl but only with music.I listen to Cemican and it makes character better for me. I generally think they need to get rid of idea that player's want easier and less complex champs to play,and make every hero unique and hard to learn,for example,like Highlander(HL is actually easy to play,its just u need to be actually good player and perfect all his nuances to make him viable against another good player,but I think everyone understand what im tryin' to say) Basically speaking,I want every character to be complex and hard,having many interesting options and not just having blue,orange,bash,50/50,it maybe would make game instantly more annoying,but it in exchange it will refresh stoic gameplay and make every fight much more interesting

Likely because especially after the removal of his pin, he's just... got nothing that special He has the single worst bash in the game, and while his chains are really good there's not much standout. His unique gimmick is also useless (hunter stance).

To add to what a lot of people have said honestly I think it’s disappointment as well. Amazing, wonderful we finally got the Aztec hero we’ve been asking for! And……they’re an infinite chain hero….with no bleed…..with a weapon built for bleeding and causing lacerations……and they’re another hybrid……yay…..

They nerfed his forward shield bash and made it tougher to continually harass. Tho he’s still pretty damn good at it if you know what you’re doing. Another downside is his heavys are incredibly easy to read and parry. I’d put him at slightly above mid

Because he's another unga-bunga infinite chain hero with no depth to keep people engaged/intrigued with his kit, probably Still stand by the fact that the art team knocked it out of the park but looks alone are hardly enough to keep me playing a hero Small edit: If he was going to be a derivative of another character, I wish they would've chosen Shaman instead of Medjay so he at least used bleed and felt like a proper hunter character with access to more moves from his stance when a target was bleeding

I’m glad that character isn’t getting picked it’s so annoying the potential they had with an Aztec hero but they made just another cringe infinite combo bashing their head into their controller hero and I hate it

he's just not fun, there aren't as many things to do with him, there aren't interesting interactions with other heroes like how afeera can bob and weave through raiders entire chain or how she could light into flip to avoid all hitokiri heavy mixups

Yeah I definitely have noticed a lot less Ocelots recently. I think people maybe got tiered of him. It's weird.

I love how he still hasn’t unlocked pirate…I still love her though

Oce is now in the highlander void... Where the skill floor is too high with the moveset complexity for newer players to compete with it, and most people dont commit to a deep mastery of for honor characters moveset... Before oce was A. New And B. had a far superior moveset with the simple 10 dmg neutral pin instead of the light confirming neutral bash it was nerfed to. So for new players he's less forgiving and less effective in all modes than he was.... And for players more competitive and old, ocelotl just doesn't have a stand out good bank like he did on release and the reasons to play him go away.

His forward bash is slow and feels awkward to use on controller (it also only does 9 damage when it lands) , his unblockable isn’t as easy to get to like some other characters, his zone is GUARDBREAKABLE, his attack from his “stance” is slow telegraphed and is basically useless

The hero is not getting picked is probably because it’s getting over played or they don’t enjoy the hero or maybe they can’t fight as him

I recon he should have been released with only a two handed version of the macuahuitl, the spear kinda takes away from the aesthetic imo. Outside of the skull set, his fashion isn't top tier imo, which could also be a driving factor for pick rate as well.

He's just objectively bad. After neutral bash was nerfed, he lost all his gas in ganks. Not having a deflect, all-guard, crushing counter, recovery cancels, a massive health bar, or abusable hyper armor, makes him suboptimal. You can be a good player and do well with him but toe to toe with most heroes of similar skill, Ocelotl kind of falls apart. That's my opinion though.

I guess I just get to enjoy a niche hero for a while if this is the case. Its the only hero Ive really played lately and I see another ocelotl maybe every 3rd game. Wouldnt be surprised if it becomes one of those perma neutered heroes that people think is the most balanced version. Playing the hero solely for the Mesoamerican larp shit. The aesthetics aren’t to the T, but you can get something that looks like it could have been in a codex illustration if you keep it basic.

for me i still play him but his zone is a little to slow for me. he again had a nice idea but it just feels like everything else. like nobu isn't the best but had more fun on her then new hero's. the og hero's just feel more fun then after marching fire. ocelotl could have been way more fun but they don't add anything new or interesting. both him and medjay could have been giving more character. of course they prob dont have the budget for it but its still sad to see new heros that feel the same as everyone else. thats my opinion at least

I have a hard time playing him because he has very little counter attacking material and no undodgeables makes him kinda easy to avoid. That being said, I still play him a lot.

I enjoy playing him, but there's a lot of people that just don't like him because he lacks the "unique" factor Each character should have a move that makes him want to use it, like Shugo hug, WM impale, shaman bite etc. Ocelotl just has infinite combos and that's all, but they can always just block or dodge it so it's not pretty useful I may like him bc I'm Mexican but it's true that he doesn't feel unique

See I’ll give my 2 cents on it. While I still enjoy playing him having him become my highest rep character, I can admit that his moveset is pretty bland. Although his chain pressure is some of the best in the game, his neutral is pretty bad and his bash after the nerf is one of the worst ones in the game. The other thing I’m pretty sure deters people is that his hunter stance is basically useless. You can’t fast flow into it like sifu or hidden stance and you get no mixups or depth to it aside from 1 slow unfeintable heavy. So his neutral along with his stance and bland moveset are the main reasons even though his ganks and chain pressure are top tier. How to fix this? Simple. Speed up his neutral bash and make hunters stance have more flow/offensive potential and mixups. I think that would bring more life to him and make him a more unique character. Since reflex guard is being removed I wouldn’t mind a deflect since he is the most assassin like of the outlanders but that last part is more subjective. Also speed up his run speed, why is an agile warrior/hunter running so slow.

Because he is super boring... if you play him you don't need to stop your attacks to think for a moment, you can just keep going you don't even need his rollcatcher because his tracking and hitboxes are super broken and they track rolls for you... ocelotl is like afeera, boring and the character PLAYS FOR THE PLAYER... but the good thing about apefeera isn't as random has ocelotl, you can atleast predict what the apefeera is going to do, ocelotl is legit unpredictable... and that isn't good character design... i like ocelolts animations and weapons but he is just incredible boring to play, just like afeera

Idk about y'all but for me hes my current main, solid combos and damage. Good mixups in my opinoon. Hes also extremely balanced which is like unheard of on release.

He’s got boring

First, he's boring. Just playing for Fashion at this point. Second, a slow ass zone that does 22-24 damage for trading. Not very favorable. Third, perks doesn't align with his feats at all making the best support perk "Rapid Refresh" useless. Lastly, other heroes are just better.

Imo he’s just absolutely boring to play as and is just very spam heavy and his hidden stance is absolute trash. Also I really hate hearing WHEELY every fucking second.
