Franz Wagner has looked incredible for the Orlando Magic. Wagner has been in and out of the NBA rookie of the year race throughout the season, but with how Franz has been playing, he arguably has as good of a case as anyone to win the award.
Franz Wagner is only 22 years old and he looks like he good be the Orlando Magic's future franchise star. He has all the tools in the world to succeed, and Franz Wagner is most definitely deserving of being in the NBA ROTY conversation.

Magic fan chiming in. Franz is everything Alex mentioned and more. He excelled as our primary ball handler when Cole and Suggs were out mid-season. He scored I believe his career high at the time and showed off his passing skills, as well as his shot creating ability. Next season, I'd love to see him as the focus more on offense, and have Cole and Suggs play off of him. Markelle is the superior ball handler, but I really would like to see the ball in Franz's hands more than he did this year.

He has the potential to be one of the best jumbo play finishers in the league, he's just bigger than most wings and faster than most bigs which makes him a walking mismatch. His finishing has been incredible, cutting and off-ball game has been one of the best we've ever seen from a rookie, like he's so freaking good lol

no such thing in allstar game as "SF" any more, you have guards and forwards, so his competition are Butler, Tatum, Giannis, Adebayo, Embiid, Durant, MIddelton, Brown; Ben Simmons

The one talking point that I hate that is used against Franz is that "this nba rookie has better potential than Franz and that therefore makes them better". We don't know what any of these rookies will be like next year but Franz is being underrated and I think it's because of preconceived notions before the draft and because people are casuals. No doubt that he should be in the talks for roy.

Franz looks like a complete player (he is only 20!) that fits perfectly to a team-oriented offense, but NBA scouts, talking heads and casual fans would much rather go crazy for a rough prospect that has a 5% chance of being next MJ and 50% chance to burn out and ending up in the G-league. All-round players without flashy highlights won't sell any jerseys.

Rookies of the year have constantly been picked for their "potential" and then they flame out immediately afterwards. It's not that much of an illustrious reward when you look at the winners over the last couple of decades and where their careers ended up.

I don't know much about Franz, but what stands out to me is that he seems fundamentally sound. Plays within his abilities, makes the right decisions, good instincts on where to be on the floor, slashing ability looks clean. I'm interested to see where he goes.

Nobody is talking about Franz Wagner because he's in Orlando. It's sad how fans don't really care about stars or rookies, or even just players in general who are in NBA teams that don't win too much. People say Cade Cunningham, Jalen Green, Mobley can be ROY because they are the first few picks. Barely anyone pays attention to picks that are out of the lottery. The only way non-lottery rookies would be mentioned are if they drop a 40 bomb, they do a really good dunk or they get a triple double, then after that, people forget who they are. That's just my take

white boys in general have to do a little more to prove themselves in the NBA. I don't even think it comes from a place of racism.. More so a place of stereotype where black dudes are generally better at basketball/football. That mixed with Franz being on the magic... If the magic had fed Franz more, he'd easily be ROTY. Dude effortlessly gets to the basket and scores at will.. His passing is underrated. I kinda wish they had play him at pg more rather than cole. Cole's been bumming at pg for 2 whole years now

Super crafty player at 6'10, elite cutter and off ball player, showed a lot of promise as a creator off the dribble as well, really good passer out of the pick and roll to the rolling big man, good team defender, good on ball defender, shot above average from three. Youngest player on the Magic atm can see him averaging 20 5 and 5 next yr. He said he will spend the offseason in the weight room and working on his shot.

Ill admit I have overlooked Franz at times in the rookie of the year race when objectively speaking he is right in the mix but its also more than the numbers that is incredibly impressive. Great video Alex, keep pushing out high quality content.

He’s very intriguing. Reminds me of another former Magic forward with guard skills that helped the Magic go to the Finals in 2009. Except Franz is more athletic and a better defender

Great video! I remember I predicted that he has star potential last year around the draft and people laughed at me, but it’s true, one of the most underlooked pickups in the NBA.

He literally plays like he's a seasoned veteran. His eurostep is so fun to watch. Absolutely loving the HT 15 vibes. A point forward. However the Jonathan Isaac situation will be interesting to watch next season.

If Franz can pack on about 10 more pounds of muscle without losing mobility, and manages to improve his already slightly above average 3 pt shot, the sky's the limit. In regards to JI, I'm starting to fear that he won't make it back. It's been almost 2 years, yet he's still not close to being able to play in a game. It's a shame, because he's easily the most physically gifted player that the Magic have had since Dwight Howard in his prime.

@@edwinramos4910 issac is gonna be just fine when he returns. He was wearing his body down. So sometimes you need a little longer rest than usual dude is still 24. Been recovering since. He will be back in the starting lineup next season no doubt alongside either Jabari smith or Franz Wagner. Starting lineup next season fultz,Suggs,Franz,issac and Wendell. With cole,Gary Harris, chuma, Jabari and mo bamba off the bench with rj Hampton and mo Wagner and bol bol in the rotation aswell. Gonna be real interesting to see this team locked in defensively next season

It honestly makes me mad that Franz isn’t in the ROY conversation. Yes I understand Mobley is helping the Cavs have one of the best seasons post LeBron ever. But he’s not as dynamic as Franz. And yes, Cade is playing great right now, but he’s doing it on horrible shooting splits for the season. And if we’re talking about Barnes …Franz is better period. Idc what anyone says. He’s a better passer, shooter, ball handler and just as good of a defender. His advanced stats show he’s better than most rookies. AND ALL I EVER SEE IS HOW THOSE THREE NAMES ARE IN THE RACE. Is absolutely infuriating. Franz is my Rookie of the year period. He’s played the most games and has been the most consistent. And yes. I am a Orlando Magic fan. That doesn’t mean I’m wrong. The numbers don’t lie.

Cunningham's shooting splits were a result of disrespect from the referees, and them refusing to ever call fouls on him, pure and simple.

He can score, he got vision, he can play off ball, he can pass, he can play point he can rebound, he can finish hard If he gets better with his left hand and in creating his own 3pt shot, he will be an All Star for shure.

It is certainly an advantage for Franz to be underrated in this way. This gives him the time and peace to develop further. I'm sure Franz doesn't see himself as a superstar at all.

@@Babelmenas not that simple they gotta really figure out what is the best fit and way to go. Do they want someone who can be apart of there big 3 like ivey, jabari Smith or Paolo? Or someone who isn't high usage like Chet? After that they gotta make choices on there players they have now. Which 1 or 2 of there guards gotta go and I think best bet is suggs and cole Anthony. also 2 of there big men gotta go and I think best bet is Wendall and Issac.

@@youtubewatcherforfun Suggs will be just fine. Guards tend to struggle in their first years but he indeed needs to show improvement with his shot going forward. If he does that then hes going to be a heck of a two guard. He's already an impact player who is an excellent defender, good playmaker, and can attack at will.. He also shown flashes offensively.. The kid just needs time

What I think the should do is trade markelle fultz to the clippers or the Knicks. Trade mo bamba to the clippers, get Isaiah hartenstein or zubac. Trade RJ Hampton. Then do 1 of these 2 things. Have Jalen Suggs as your starter, have cole Anthony as your 6th man then draft jaden ivey to put in the backcourt with suggs. Have Franz Wagner as the small forward, Issac at the 4 and Wendall at the 5. 2. Have suggs as the 1, Franz at the 2, Issac at the 3, draft ether jabari Smith or Chet for the 4 and wendall at the 5

He's honestly been a bright spot on the defensive end. He's shown flashes of what he can be, but the problem is simply that his shots aren't falling. And it's absolutely visibly frustrating him and getting inside his head. Between not hitting open looks at as high a clip as he should, and just taking too many tough shots, he'll have to focus on it in the offseason. As a Magic fan, I'm still very hopeful, but I can't deny that I'm also very concerned.

He's been elite as a defender, holding his opponents to the lowest fg% out of all rookies. His shots aren't falling unfortunately, but that will come with time. Jalen is a winner. A guy who's stats wont jump off the page but his impact is clearly seen with the eye test. He's like Jrue holiday, Draymond green, Jimmy butler, kyle Lowry, Marcus smart, Patrick Beverley, etc. He makes winning plays, takes alot of charges, dives on the floor for loose balls and just makes all the winning plays. He's the player every championship team needs

He’s going to be elite on Defense. He’s great at intercepting passes and great on ball. He needs a lot of work on his ball handing and shot creation. I think he’s going to be in the league a long time just cause of how well he defends. If he figures out his offense than he’s prob a future all-star.
