Something I love about this anime is how often the mental health of a character is displayed in how they fight. I loved how Kage when faced with Hyuse and Kuga decided to change up his style and goes out of his way to prevent Tamakoma from scoring a point on him by bleeding out on Trion Loss. Than Yuzuru who plays uncharacteristicly aggressive and is the only person on his team to score points. There’s just so much mind games in this series

This is THE most underrated Shonen battle anime

Trion can be trained and increased while someone is still young, but they will never be able to increase to say, Chika's level.

I don’t see the low stakes as a weakness, since it allows the characters to lose without there being any need for ass pulls and so forth like in other series, but they left the door open for stakes with the original border members like you said, it’s a great way to set it up imo

The most favourite scene in this anime for me is the 'Rank Wars'. I love how the skills & strategy were used

I've noticed a lot of good works go unnoticed and i want to believe it's because they get overshadowed by more popular stuff.. Unless it's popular or has a dedicated fanbase, a lot of series dont get talked about

The characters, whether main or supporting are recurring and are so great. Sure, there is a lot, but if you have any interest in them, you might/will remember most of them. In my opinion, Mikumo Osamu is the best character in the series for me.

A person with a black trigger can defeat a platoon of lesser or weaker soldiers. Bruh Jin beat several A rank agents handily and even the #1 and #2 attackers of border. Black Triggers are no joke. Yuma handily beat a squad of A rank soldiers and in both cases they were holding back. I think the most impressive part of this feat is just about no character feels like a jobber. The show has mastered the art of giving every character accolades and worth.

The weaknesses of this series is it’s pacing and insanely large character cast. Nothing atypical for older Shonen but in this day and age it’s harder to get away with. What makes this series great is its power system and fights with said system. I think this series was best when I was bingeing it. But now caught up with a monthly series, it’s very little bits of story at a time. It’s good story but just slow. Also I forgot so many characters since they are only relevant every so often.

Season 2 and season 3 for world trigger are getting great to watch! Like seriously!

side effects are caused from someone being born with a lot of trion, like jin amo and chika. yuuma wasnt born with a mass amount like the rest but he inherited it when he got his black trigger. also im pretty sure yuuma can tell what part is the lie even when it’s surrounded by truth.

It’s not flashy nor is it heavy with nonstop action. The b-rank wars are but even that arc, the way world trigger does battles is much more in depth, slower than the usual “hyped” battle shounen. I LOVE World Trigger, but I know some people who are drawn away from the slower take on events/action. The focus on strategy and tactics, while it’s 1 thing I absolutely love & makes the fewer hyped moments feel much more earned, doesn’t quench the thrist of more immediate faster battle ready anime manga like a black clover, jujutsu kaisen etc. I love those series as well but that’s 1 main thing I think why at doesn’t appeal to everyone, nor heavy discuses. The month schedule & hiatus/breaks always affect the amount of discourse a series gets unfortunately

Jin is one of the coolest characters in all of anime.

I think while Trion bodies meaning that there are low stakes can be a hindrance, it also offers a lot of storytelling opportunities. It means characters can take serious damage, lose limbs, even get completely taken out of the fight, without needing to kill off characters or do plot injuries where they get bloody and are fine the next day. And while it might not carry consequence of permanent damage, someone losing an arm or bailing out still has stakes for that battle as their chances of completing their objective go down with each fighter lost or hampered.

I found this gem a couple of mine the before season 2 came out and I’m telling it good i was shocked how it wasn’t really talked much tbh it’s probably one of my favorite series

It has pretty high stakes if you think about it. Without a trion body you basically an ant and once soldiers lose their trion body they’re just a burden if they stay on the battlefield unlike if you have a real body that can fight, you can push yourself through exhaustion and adrenaline helps turn the tables too. They don’t have that which is very disadvantageous when you have a limited number of soldiers that can fight. That’s why they made a fortress for this very reason, soldiers are just a quarter of their power coz they can’t rely on it too much. That’s one of the reasons that make this incredible. Also people get cut by swords and don’t just have a 99 percent dodge rate.

Season 3 was legit. This has been a great arc. Can't wait to see where the story goes from here

i recently started binging this and when you described it as a chess match it just describes this show so we’ll ofc it’s way more in depth but the strategies they explain and do combined with badass triggers and squads themselves just make this show up as a whole

Side effects are, side effects of having high amounts of trion. As far as I know they do not increase the users physical abilities but instead give them additional means to aquire information. Imo world trigger is in it's core and information war, how to acquire and use these information in real time is what separates it from other battle shounen out there. Now side effects gives it's user information in like sensory, precognition in real time and it's up to the user how he/she utilizes the info for his/her advantage.

Started watching world trigger at the end of last December. To be honest I dont regret about it, just marathon until the final episode of season 3. Everyone says how slow the pacing is, but once you caught up with it, you never want to drop it.. The only other anime I feel like this is black clover, the story where very slow pace right until the Eye of midnight Saga which then went into non stop fighting pace till the end. Least to say, that if the anime still continues, probably during the 2nd phase of the Away Selection Team, the spotlight may finally goes to this series, where almost all the cast were involved in an all out battle

Pretty much my favorite anime. The story, fights, strategy, and power system are just all top notch imo.

the anime seems like battle royal, action pack with many interesting character, power systems is limited but easier to understand,

One of the best aspects of the show for me is the different strategies. No two characters really have the same trigger sets and even if they do the way they fight is very different from one another. Every battle is different and characters are always making adjustments before, during, and after the match. I’m really excited for the next arc (selection) and away mission especially since Jin won’t be joining them. Jin is one of my favorite characters but I want to see how they fare without jin.

At least it has season 3 now, most doesn't even have season 2.

I’ve been meaning to start it but something always comes up and I need to get to it 😭😭😭😭😭

I think a few big reasons why this show isn't as popular is because the marketing was terrible, hardly anyone knows what world trigger is or even knows the show exist despite have 2 more seasons. A lot of people are just not aware. The 2nd reason is that the first season is slow paced and follows the older format of releasing a ep every week with filler, compared to modern anime which have 12 or 24ep seasons, (I know the new seasons do this too), so when people go to watch the first season and find out it has filler that puts them off. 3rd reason is that the first season is not near as flashy or fast pace as modern shonen anime, it has its moments but animation even at the time of release was never really that great, its good enough to get the job done but not more than that, 2nd and 3rd season make up for it though. I think only certain type of people will truly give WT a chance because most will just overlook it because of those reasons.

Season 1 was a diamond in the rough very interesting story with plot points and actually decent action. it suffered from Extend time ep syndrom I remember there was an ep where there is a solid 3 minutes just switching between people in a meeting faces. The filler arc ... was ..... something I kinda think it hurt the anime more than it should. and then finished the season with a solid comeback. and then ... silence. but man oh man when it returned with season 2 it was VERY EPIC it was jaw dropping how season 2 was good . from by far one of the best animated fights around with a solid tactics and growth of charcters with just action and action back to back with the politics of the show going at a decent rate. season 3 was lower quality than season 2 but it was still high level production season 2 was kinda a flix tbh like Have you missed us yet ! kinda flix. and they had very much all the time they needed. Season 3 didnt have that much time it ame pretty soon after season 2 if it had more cooking time no doubt it would have been as good as season 2. but like for god sake season 3 ep 13 has like ... the best running scene ever !!! the dude is just running at someone and the Animation was like .... Mind blowing !!! If season 4 comes with the quality of season 2 oh please It would very much worth the wait !!!

The reason the series isent as popular is cuz it's slow, simple as that. The MC doesn't help being weak the whole time, while it's good from a character perspective to have a very weak and flawed character, from a viewing experience it's very lacking in my opinion. A little off topic but the reason I have a hard time watching it is cuz every and I mean every moment the MC is alone it feels like his lamenting get tiring. Back on topic tho another thing that I dislike is that will see him for a episode or 2 try to figure out a strategy that would fall though or change which is understandable but then feels like the 2 episodes building the strategy isent as necessary.

The hiatus in this anime definitely did something. And because of that, many people don't really watch it and when the new season hits (with a banger and improved animation btw), nobody really talk about it because it got outshined by other anime. Even The Anime Man see it in his What will I be watching for fall 2021, but decided to skip over it (he does skip a bunch of others anime too tho).

To me, no one talks about world trigger because the anime first season was just... Bad. And while a lot of manga could pick up even with a bad anime, world trigger not having a particularly impressive artstyle or flashy premise doesn't help. Even insanely popular manga like bnha only had a fraction of the audience before the anime came out. Sure, hiatuses don't help, but other manga like D gray man (that had not the best, but a decent anime) also had multiple hiatuses, and their author switch from weekly to monthly, and still had a pretty big fanbase. Kinda sucks because I love world trigger, but yeah that's how I feel. I hear season 2 is better but i haven't watched so

I've really enjoyed the anime, just recently finished the 3rd season and decided to rebinge the whole thing again. There is one issue that kinda keeps threatening to make me want to hate the show and that's the writing for the Chika character. She can be passive/scared/shrinking to ridiculous degrees, and then, the way they handle her insane potential seriously lacks imagination. In the third season they start to contemplate some of the ways they could use that potential but WTF, they should have thought of those things immediately. Since she can 'lend' her trion energy, but hardly ever does, why not let someone else shoot the damn guns while she powers them? Border doesn't exist to hold rank war tournaments, its function is to fight the neighbors, the engineers should be avidly pursuing developing triggers to take better advantage of her potential, something like a shotgun that had a horizontal spread of projectiles for one e.g.. She really doesn't use her power much until the 3rd season, even when she does, it's done poorly. One strategy they should always try to use is to get all of the team together and then let her just blast everything else to rubble which she could do in a few seconds, but she never repeat-fires quickly, why not? Anyone could come up with dozens of possibilities for using all of that power but the writers don't seem up to it.

Nah season 3 ended and it won't be coming out with a season 4 anytime soon because the manga now is just a talking match.

I like world trigger but some parts drag on for too long, The current chapters have the characters endlessly talk and go over different things inside a ship.... It's not badly written but It's getting boring very fast since I've been waiting for a month just to get a chapter of characters just on some Laptops.

It was fun at start but it gott boring.

For westerners, it's not flashy and it's boring the MC comes off as annoying and the revive death crap is annoying as well. I respect it because unlike Naruto it's not reviving Jutsu that gets pulled out the ass. But it's still annoying and makes scenes that are supposed to be intense just boring. the power system reminds me of why Kishi up naruto so drastically so fast it's good to watch if you're really into it but if you're a Naruto fan who turns this on you're gonna be bored out of your mind. And none of the character designs stand out like most new gen animes like a Demon Slayer, MHA, FireForce, etc
