I think the whole argument is actually pointless. You can't really compare their combat styles to say, "Who is stronger?" because they fight so differently. Zoro is probably physically stronger, sure, we don't see Sanji doing 10,000 leg presses every day like Zoro does. But Sanji's strength comes from his speed, agility and battle intelligence. Where Zoro goes in with brute strength like a bull, Sanji goes in fast and smart like a leopard. Both animals are powerful, but in unique ways. A bull could never pull a gazelle into a tree, a leopard could never headbutt through a barrier. That's why we will never be able to truly say who is stronger.

One point to add is that Sanji also took decent damage from Black Maria and Kalifa.

Thank you, Reggie for being a reasonable Zoro fan! Because Zoro uses cutting attacks, he'll always have more ATK power compared to Sanji who uses BLUNT force attacks. This is now especially true since he can enhance his blades with Conqueror Coating. However, Sanji's current attack power is nothing to laugh at either. Sanji also now has insane defense and greater speed added to his arsenal. He can speed blitz characters who are at least Queen Level and below (i.e. Jack, Doflamingo, etc.). Sanji can inflict burning to his opponents which is a form of Durability Negation (depending on the opponent's heat resistance). Plus, Sanji can regenerate crushed/broken bones. As far as we know, he has resistance to blades (without Armament). This is why I personally say they are overall "equal" in combat ability. Zoro has overwhelming attack power. Sanji has overwhelming...everything else.

Zoro never took a full force blast from 2 yonkous. He attempted to stall it for a second or 2 which he did before being teleported away. So he took partial damage if law didn’t teleport him the “full force” of the attack would’ve killed him just like the rest of them.

I always felt Zoro, and Sanji were about equal strength wise. Just differing in Zoro having better endurance do to all the stuff he has been through, but Sanji having greater defense shrugging off some pretty heavy hits throughout the journey.

This returned like 10 years to my lifespan and restored my faith in humanity. I’ve been a Sanji stan my whole life and it’s so frustrating to see That One Kind of Zoro fan or just power scaler freaks in general rag on Sanji. A lot of the points used against him like say, his bounty, have plot reasons they’re like that. First off the system is literally “whatever the navy thinks based on what it knows” and second as we clearly see now after WCI, if he’d had a legit poster from day 1 like Zoro WCI woulda happened WAY earlier and they’d all be dead. Sanji HAS to be roughly as strong as Zoro for the two of them being Luffy’s backup and support to work. What Sanji REALLY brings to the table that Zoro lacks is his quick and tactical thinking. Sanji will avoid a fight completely if he thinks the others have it reasonably handled to do something else that’s tactically useful. We see him in Wano actively asking himself where he’s needed more. Zoro is a human WMD. This dude’ll slice and dice thru anyone you put in front of him but he’s VERY combat focused. His attention and thinking does not move outside the immediate conflict. But that’s GOOD and it WORKS bc he can tank like a pro so Sanji can confidently run off to do shit like close the gates of justice. Like THEY’RE A TEAM!!!! I never had any real favorite when I started Op I just loved and was intrigued by everyone equally but after the timeskip I loved sanji the most. I know fishmen island sanji is decisive but I enjoyed how much more expressive Sanji became, and the idea that sanji took nothing but L’s post timeskip is ridiculous in my eyes cause since fishmen island sanji been fighting against heavy hitters like vergo & doflamingo. On the King vs Sanji debate I think at worst sanji gets stalemated. Hear me out. I not sure ifrit Jambe can overcome kings durability with the flames on, but that doesn’t matter because if king kept his flames on there is no way in hell he wove able land a single hit on sanji much less keep up with him. So to even fight sanji evenly he would need to keep his flames off, but sanji would still be faster with ifrit ( not to the point where king gets perception blitzed). At that point if sanji lands a combo on King the same way he did Queen the fight is over.

This is a good appreciation content for Sanji, but when you introduced the characters whom Sanji fought, I think you forgot to mention that Sanji raided the Sea Train alone, where he defeated all the lower ranking marines including the Cook who ate the ramen ramen fruit.. LOL. Finally, he was commended by Blueno for having a very strong kick when the latter's iron body defense did not fully work against Sanji's attack. Just the night before Ennies Lobby, Sanji had already shown greatness. That's cool!

Great video! Im just wishing to see what Zoro and Sanji are going to do in Egghead! Also I think the same, Sanji and Zoro were never that far away, Luffy was always stronger than bot of them. The thing is Zoro is more battle centered, while Sanji is more strategist, that why normally Zoro is the one that is with Luffy in that kind of moments. As a Wanji Stan from DAY ONE, to hear you say Sanji was your favorite at first, then it switched to Zoro, is BAFFLING I am appalled. Flabbergasted. Perplexed. Bamboozled

I agree with everything except the Doroki System being bad because I actually think it helps your case. I know that the Doroki System only measure physical strength, but I think Oda was using that method at the time give an accurate measure of how powerful certain opponents are and how they scale, regardless of what special powers or advantages they might have because the Doroki System was basically a One Piece mimicry of DBZ power levels. See, I'd say at least 90% of people don't understand what literary devices in general and it especially goes for the One Piece Community. Oda uses Narrative Parallels many times, and one of his biggest Narrative Parallels are between Alabasta, Enies Lobby, and Onigashima. Excluding Jack, since he was meant to fight the Minks, the enemy hierarchy has been the exact same through all three arcs as well as the relationship between the 2nd and 3rd. Bon Clay hated Das Bonez and made fun of him for getting kicked by him, Jabra hated Kaku and made fun of him for being a Giraffe, and Queen hated King and made fun of him for being a pervert. Now not only does Oda parallel these elements in their personality, he also parallels their strength. Bon Clay fought Das Bones and even though Das Bones was "Mr 1", he couldn't hit Bon Clay while he got flung through a wall with one kick. With King and Queen not only are their bounties close, but they are portrayed to be close in strength. We could see that the moment King and Queen were bullying Jack. And what's special about Jabra and Kaku is that with the Doroki System, Oda has given us a glimpse at how close in power the enemies actually are. So we can safely say that at the VERY LEAST Sanji was always very close to Zoro. TL:DR If you understand literary devices you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Zoro and Sanji are at the very least close in power while Luffy is in a league of his own.

Dope video, Sanji despite having a reassurance in people backing him up recently still has quite some doubters. Ill give a quick rundown of my thoughts of Zoro and Sanji's strengths throughout the show. Pre Enies lobby Zoro was slightly stronger. Still, it is way closer than people think. Zoro wins extreme diff. Enies lobby until Timeskip they were equals. If they fought it'd be a stalemate. Return to Sabaody until Wano Zoro was very clearly stronger. He was a pretty sizable leap ahead of Sanji. Zoro got an actual training arc during the timeskip, Sanji didn't. Zoro wins high diff. Hot take incoming Wano -> currently in the manga, Sanji is a step above Zoro. He has better stats in most categories. Zoro is gonna need more than just AP to be stronger than Sanji who is good at literally every category. Zoro specializes in conq/armament haki, AP and endurance those are the things he really shines in, where his stats are particularly high. Sanji shines in speed, durability, endurance, hax, AP, DC, agility, IQ, Battle IQ, abilities just about damn near every stat you can name and Sanji's got it. Sanji wins high diff. I believe those that think Zoro is still stronger to this day only think so because Zoros typically been stronger throughout most of the series. People dont expect such huge change. I mean if you told any fan before Wano that Sanji would be stronger not a single person would believe you. But Wano came, Sanji started cooking and now hes an entirely different monster.

You didn't mention the reset pill Zoro took before his fight. He was pretty much fresh ve King. Zoro attracts kids, because his fights are flashy. Sanji attracts more mature people because his flashiness is on a deeper emotional level, not everyone enjoys it. But anyway, Zoro and Sanji are equals as far as portrayal goes tbh.

What underrated. Sanji is absolutely fairly ranked. He's strong but he's not on Luffy and Zoro, he can match them. He's like Garp, to Roger and WB. He wasn't as strong as them, if he were WB wouldn't be the only rival of Roger's to be his equal.

I'd say that in terms of power, Sanji isn't very far behind Zoro at all. But what always gets underestimated even more is what Sanji can do beyond just fighting. Aside from making sure these idiots don't starve, there's his talent as a spy and saboteur. That doesn't come up nearly as often, but when it *does* come up it comes up big. Imagine how badly Alabasta would've gone had he not fooled Crocodile with his "Mr Prince" persona. and how badly Enies Lobby would've gone without him sneaking in to open the Gate of Justice.

I see where your coming from, but I think there’s a few things you have to keep in mind. 1. Zoro was doing pretty bad against king at first, but a lot of that had to do with zoro not understanding king’s race yet, zoro not having control of enma yet, and him not getting his power up yet. 2. Advanced conquerors is probably the biggest buff we’ve seen in the series and zoro before getting it was quite a bit stronger than sanji. I don’t think sanji is way weaker than zoro but I also don’t think it’s the closest it’s ever been.

THANK YOU. When I rewatched Arlong Park - I think Sanji was actually stronger than Zoro at first. Now Zoro is just a little bit stronger, because he literally only sleeps and trains all day, but at first, you couldn't convince me otherwise. Because i saw Arlong Park and I was like: ok ok wait. So Luffy is a devil-fruit user, obviously he's gonna have like, monster super powers. Zoro uses swords which is super dangerous and deadly, but Usop and Nami are regular humans with ordinary human strength... and than you have Sanji, who can kick fishmen through concrete walls. With his legs. No Devil fruit powers or deadly weapons. And he pulled it so effortlessly while Zoro has to train all day every day to get stronger.... while what Sanji does all day is pretty much cook. Sanji is one of these incredibly talented, smart, genius characters who barely utilizes his abilities other than cooking. The guy could replicate a recipe for a big-ass cake with like 17 secret ingredients going just by it's SMELL. Like, I follow pancakes recipes step by step and they still turn out like crap.

Sanji’s physical stats are superior than zoro. Zoro’s a normal human, sanji’s a modified human who can move very fast he cant be seen. He has increased strength and speed, and we all know he’s already fast before the awakening. Getting a speed buff and exoskeleton and strength buff means sanji’s base attacks are incredibly strong without haki. One hit from that can severely wound a normal body zoro. Put ifrit, zoro will get severe burn lol. Zoro makes up for his enma and acoc that can be very devastating and deadly for sanjo if sanji took a direct hit. But zoro cant use acoc efficiently because enma can drain his life force. Sanji can easily dodge acoc attacks from zoro with his speed and observation haki and if he get slightly hit, can regen and recover. While zoro’s constantly getting drain and weaker. Sanji can go in and out and be very technical about it. That super speed will help him. So the fight can really go in either one of them’s favor that’s why i think both are equal because both have different fighting style. If you say who got better Attack power, then sure zoro got it. But if ask who is stronger? Physically it is sanji, and that’s a fact.

Zoro can cut fire. Sanji can break sword. Equal result. Unstoppable force vs immovable object.

I always thought they both are goated, yh Sanji at times is annoying especially in Fishmen island where the Gags were too much, but since then he’s been dope. Zoro will always be the second strongeat but I do agree a lot of ppl tend to believe that the gap is insanely big which I don’t think that’s the case. Zoro will always be slightly ahead due to having AdvCoc, but recently there’s been some hints that Sanji could get it (doubt it) but it shouldn’t be out of the picture. Regardless both are goats in my book.

I think Zoro is the better fighter but that doesn't mean he's much weaker than Zoro, he's a cook. A cook and he kicks the crap out of people on the regular. I'd say the two of them are almost interchangeable post Wano, we will see how things shake out in time. :)

Regardless of who is stronger, Sanji is a character with way more depth and character than Zoro. Zoro is written to be the perfect shonen cool, strong guy. Sanji is flawed, but he's also compassionate and selfless and has grown not only physically but also matured emotionally.

I don't mind the sentiment that sanji is close to zoro in strength, The issue comes from actual portrayal from the author himself...from the beginning of the story the portrayal of luffy and zoro has been different from the rest of the strawhats. Pre TS - They both ran up on everyone until Arlong in a duo, Sanji lost to Gin who was the right hand of Kreig but Zoro lost to the WSS Mihawk and both luffy/zoro earned his respect, Alabasta was clear but the bounties got realeased for zoro and luffy, in skypiea they both fought shandians and god/priest in solo combat, W7/EL was clear and so was the buff everyone got however again the portrayal of being part of supernova was given to luffy and zoro only, Thriller bark is cool but it was mostly team effort from then till post ts. Post TS - FMI is whatever, Punk hazard again is a buff for both of them cause luffy and zoro hoed there opponents but sanji was stalled v vergo, Dressrosa was again a stall for sanji vs doffy where as luffy/zoro ran up on everyone they could and zoro/luffy could only be stalled by Fujitora(a whole admiral) aside from the main battles they fought there, Zou till Reverie is weird cause i personally thought sanji might have a showcase but he didnt whereas luffy still kept getting buffs, entre wano and as a zoro fan i can confirm this boy went beyond all my expectations...from beating Hawkins, Killer and King to the fact he was actually boxing a real yonko is insane still. All is to say, Sanji is not weak, actually he is comparable to zoro...he has to be otherwise something like "nothing happened!" can happen again and i know sanji don't want that for his brother. However Oda's portrayal of sanjis strength fluctuates so much it never lets you feel he is as strong as he should be whereas you can never question zoro or luffy for they power or achievements. Honestly, even if we bring up Kaku and Jabra, Sanji after getting beat on by Kalifa defeated Jabra way easier than Zoro defeated Kaku. Even further, I’m pretty sure Oda said he didn’t know if he wanted Zoro OR Sanji to fight Kaku. That tells you that most of the time they’ve been equals

Luffy of course gets a spotlight cause his MC, always fighting the main villains. So between Zoro and Sanji. Zoro feats always went above Sanji, endurance, high slashing ability, even Zoro speed where Zoro disappeared in front of 100 people, and even durability since we seen Sanji bone breaking and stuff multiple times. Only thing Sanji had above was his IQ, though we tend to look at the combat more instead. So I think that's why Sanji was downplayed for awhile since Zoro feat was just that much more noticeable for a long time. But I think that's finally starting to change. Sanji disappearing even against a commander, speed across island in an instant, and even having higher durability now that he awakened his blood. Lol XD

I personally believe that sanji would have had an easier time with king than with queen, he mooves faster than king in base so he would have to turn off his flame to just even catch up and after that, sanji has the best ob haki in the crew, when he got his shit together vs queen he practically no diffed/ low diffed him

Naw they are far apart. You want to say sanji struggled because of a mental breakdown. Zoro was struggling because not only was he trying to figure out kings power, enma was taking his haki which he was reluctant to use precisely because of enma, and he knew he was on a timer where he'd be useless once it was up. King and queen weren't relative to each other king was clearly above him to the point queen himself was hyping him. Using bounty is terrible way to gauge characters as by that very logic jinbe is stronger than Sanji and both king and queen despite losing to Zoro and Sanji straight up are still stronger. Bounties never measured strength and you can't try to use them to measure strength. Lastly once zoro got his pu he mid diff king while you can't say Sanji can even beat king currently. Even if you do think sanji can beat king despite showing nothing to say he can even damage the guy it'd take Sanji extreme diff. There's a clear gap between zoro and sanji people just don't like to acknowledge because they're head cannon wants them to be close. Just like during dressrosa wci and early wano where sanji was not even above vergo yet somehow he was only slightly weaker than Zoro still just because. The characters have almost never been portrayed as near equals with the last time that being the case was in EL over a decade ago.
