i think the best part of the CP3 trade is that Steph's minutes are way more valuable now. i checked last week (and i know its early) and he's averaging the lowest number of minutes in his entire career excluding the seasons that were cut short by injuries. so not only is he playing at or above his MVP seasons, but he's doing it on ~4 LESS minutes per night. when he comes back in, he doesnt have to worry about the bench cutting their lead back to single digits or even losing the lead.

Why was Steph unguardable in his early 20s, that's the question. Steph never relied on blinding speed, epic leaping ability, or brute physical strength. Steph never had those things, so he had to learn to excel without them. Those are all things that decline with age, often steeply given the rigors of an 82-game season stacking up over a dozen or more years. What makes Steph special is TALENT. That, along with his insanely tough training regimen and high BBIQ, make him as unguardable at 35 as he was at 21, probably more so.

I've been saying this since I heard we landed CP3: Steph is going to have his best year yet because CP3 is going to unleash Steph in so many ways. CP3 being a low turnover primary ball handler with hall of fame passing abilities is exactly what Steph has never had. Now that CP3 is here, Steph is going to go nuts. I don't think he's more productive more so as he's more efficient than 2016. Just like beginning of last season he's shooting with otherworldly efficiency but he never plays for stats or numbers so it doesn't matter what his statline looks like these days. CP3 is allowing him to play primarily off-ball as a shadow 2 guard at times even at the beginning of games when he's on the bench. They set the tone for each other and that's so cold tbh.
