The parthenon also once served as storage for gunpowder, but during this time there was an oopsie-daisy and that is why the roof is missing, not old age.

Yes, it was such a revered building they used it as an ammo dump and it was attacked and blew up, hence it's current condition.
@Kleftis

@@CheepchipsableGreeks revered it, ottomans hate Greeks, conquered and enslaved them and then used it as an ammo dump. The destruction of the Parthenon is not from Greeks but from ottomans, modern day Turks, who still hate Greeks till this day.

Yes which unfortunately has a few mistakes to the colours and the design and is not very accurate but for the time it was built it was a decent effort to create a replica

We have similar structures here in the Philippines. The National museum and the Post Office looks like the Parthenon and those buildings were built by the Americans. I love classical architecture.

I believe many Federal buildings in the US have facades that are designed after Roman architecture and not Greece. However, it is the Roman's got their architecture from Greece originally, but made changes. Not all columns are the same. Sure they are fluted, yet there are subtle differences between Doric and Corinthian columns. Especially the capitals above each column. The differences between their frieze are also different and more like Roman architecture which used the Corinthian style.

Wow, at what time did you get there? Looks awesome I was there 3 weeks ago. It opens at 8, we got there by 8:50 and the ‘skip the line’-line was huge (but quick). Had about triple the people I see on your video. But not as crowded as around 11:00. Its insane at that point. Luckily that’s when we explored the theater and other structures on the mountain

@@Khalid6720 bro entry fee is 22€ if you buy online. But if you are in athens for more than two days (and are willing to walk), get the combination ticket. It’s 34€ and includes 7 total sites. Including acropolis, ancient agora, roman agora and a few more. I visited 6/7 sites in 3 days. It doesn’t include the museums (national museum and acropolis museum) but if you really like history, I’d buy tickets for those as well if I were you

Wrong, total wrong. The Rig Veda(1500BCE) is the first such treatise, which gives us a basic idea of democracy, named it Samajnana or Samjnana. (Samaj= people; Anana= being acknowledge). The King elected or acknowledge by people. Buddha’s father was a democratically elected king at nearly 700BCE. Parthenon, Athens and Greek are not pioneer of concept Democracy. Democracy had been practicing in India way before the Europe got civilized.

A lot of the artwork that decorated the top of the building was “bought” by a lord during the ottoman occupation and that’s how they ended up in the British museum. Greece has been arguing to be returned to their rightful place but they refuse to accept.

It wasn’t so much of a temple, more of a central bank housing all the treasury for a common army and obviously other things like art, and for building stuff😂
@stelios5314
@stelios5314 Жыл бұрын
Depends on the time period. It was a temple as well. It used to have a statue of Athens goddess, like many temples back then had statues inside. Even the name Parthenon comes from Parthenos Athena, which was one of the 12 gods.

@UrbanistExploringCities

Don’t we all get old and die? Don’t buildings naturally deteriorate? Don’t we go through periods of natural calamity? No one is perfect, both individuals and society as a whole. And ultimately everyone is at the whims of natural forces. So yes this was great civilization for many reasons and it did collapse. We shouldn’t demand perfection, we should appreciate what they did right.

You forgot to say why the Parthenon looks "unassembled". Because they were stolen from the British State in 1800 and until today they are placed in the British Museum and they make millions of money from the stolen sculptures that the museum says are legal. Until today, Greece is asking for the sculptures back and specifically yesterday the Prime Minister of Greece was in England, he had a meeting with the Prime Minister of England regarding the sculptures and the Prime Minister of England canceled the meeting at the last moment.
