The things got positive trail, it doesn't matter whether the trail is in front or behind the vertical axis of the wheel spindle from a basic handling perspective but it does affect how the rake raises and lowers the weight of the bike in relation to the angle of the handlebars. If you built a front end with conventional rake and positive trail it would be unrideable, the bike would be constantly trying to push the front end from one side to the other, it's because the rake is so extreme that it works. The low speed 'flop' of a raked front end goes away the faster you go, it wants to center. The opposite would be true if you used a conventional sports bike type rake with positive trail, the weight of the bike would push the front wheel of the bike off axis harder and harder the faster you went. Clever front end until you want to fit a front brake, there's nowhere to mount it that doesn't want to make the weight of the bike jack the front end up due to the leverage of the long lower axle plates.
