Lovely to hear that 2 of Ireland's best players come from Nz .It seems a lot of Northern hemisphere teams have some southern hemisphere players in their teams .

Ireland are certainly a formidable team atm. I wonder however, if they would still be the same without their Kiwi imports? Aki, Lowe, Gibson-Parke. Always an interesting debate… did they bring excellence with them or did Ireland bring out their talent? 🤔

@@aughalough1 Both of your points unproven. And they then lost to the ABs in the World Cup. ABs vs Ireland? 31/5 (ABs have 84% winning ratio). Great to see Ireland doing well. We’ll see if it can be maintained.

@@rwags6848, they arrived in Ireland as project players and learned their skills with provincial sides in Ireland, after their first caps for Ireland they had to return to hone their skills further with their respective provinces.

@@aughalough1 Fair point that the ABs benefit from their Pacific neighbours. Note however that Auckland is the largest Polynesian city. NZ is their birth country. Of the 1133 men who have represented the All Blacks, just 32 were born in the islands - Samoa, Tonga, Fiji and American Samoa. Not quite 3% in 120 years.

They were different players when they were in New Zealand. It took years to get them to play the Irish way. JGP spent a long time as a bit player with Leinster and Lowe took a year out of the Ireland set up to teach him how to defend. It must also be noted that Ireland have dominated the under 20 Internationals over the last 5 or 6 years. There are no NZ players in their squad.

Ireland are good because they win most of their games. From what Ireland were to now and how England celebrated their 82nd min last kick win against Ireland reminded me how far Ireland have come. Ireland won 7 tests in 90s in the 5 nations. England and most other nations have never had a foreign-born player play for them, have they? Ireland developed those players. Were they like that 8 years ago when they arrived? They fit in the Irish system. Feel free to say 3 kiwis make Ireland what they are because it's funny and harmless.

Poor response. Ireland have dominated the under 20 set up over the last number of years without Kiwis. The NZ players were not International players when in NZ. They were surplus to requirements. They learned their international class in Ireland. Most rugby teams have players not of the origin of the countries they play with.

Probably as good if not better than the ABs who have the Polynesian A team in their squad
