The 2nd race (Portugal) of the 1986 season, an RS200 fresh off the starting line ended up running over a group of spectators. the spectators were crowding the turn and the RS200 had no way to miss them. The end result was 3 were killed instantly and the 4th died from injuries. The Lancia Delta S4 crash and deaths happened later on in the 1986 season. They used *Both* examples of loss of life from *Both* cars to shut down Group B for the following season.

That's because Henry Ford helped the German economy recover before WW2 by setting up loads of factories for their industry. After the war when Germany was split up between the Allies, the British Army took control of all these factories abd ever since Ford Europe has been run by British and German engineers. Thats why there's Fords Americans hace necer heard of or seen.

I know very little about the car, but I knew it was for the transfer case. The RS200 is AWD, you have the main stick shifter and a smaller one near it.. 4x4s have these as well. Sure they're labeled with 4H, 4L, N, 2H but same logic. Cars from the 80s and 90s did not have lights on the dash telling you what you were doing.

If I remember correctly, the difference between 4WD and AWD is if you can disable one side or not, where four wheel drive can select a two wheel mode, but all wheel drive is always all wheels all the time.
@IIGrayfoxII
@IIGrayfoxII Жыл бұрын
@@Fightre_Flighte True. But these days AWDs lines blur with 4WD. Some cars like the will change the torque split between front and rear. Some cars do it automatically some you can control(like the WRX) Some cars like the Golf R will be front wheel drive when driving around normally and when the car starts to slip or under hard acceleration it will start to send power to the rear wheels. By only sending power to the front wheels for normal driving you improve fuel economy as you're not suffering from parasitic losses by going though the center differential and rear differential.

The engine stated life as a 1700cc BDT build for the rs1700t escorts then was increased to the 1800cc BDT for the rs200. It had 250bhp in road trim there was extra stuff available to buy from Ford to up the road trim to 300bhp. In race trim it produced 350bhp to 450bhp. Then ford made 24 rs200 EVO 2100cc BDTE. Road going cars had 600bhp and the race trim ones where 750bhp to 900bhp.
@bigbuckoramma
@bigbuckoramma Жыл бұрын
@@upurkilt7246 while you are correct on the engines development. Your power numbers are the kind of thing a boy racer would dream up. In Group-B competition rally trim, the cars in top power configuration barely made 500 BHP. Usually closer to 350-400, purely for drivability. This was also true of the 205 T16, and the Delta S4. And in fact, drivers regularly called for the cars to be detuned, and run less boost, to make them easier to handle. If you look at the most highly modified variants of the RS200, you can see the hill climb and RallyCross versions of the car through the 90's. Those British Rally Cross cars were only rated to 600-750, depending on tuning. One of the most famous hill climb cars, which has been to Goodwood multiple times, has only been rated at around 600. One of the most highly modified RS200's, that attacked Pikes Peaks, was fully modernized, and running massive levels of boost, and it managed to make a whopping 930 horse power! But again, that is a fully modern version of the car. Not an OG from 1987, and not the 250-300 horsepower road car. Please don't spread fake numbers. Keep the history alive, by keeping it accurate.
@upurkilt7246

@@bigbuckoramma like I said the 1800cc from the first generation rs200 (not evolution spec) where 250bhp in road form and 350bhp to 450bhp in race trim from 1984 to end of 1985......... in 1986 ford took 24 cars and built "homologation spec" cars (evolution) with the BDTE engine that was 2100cc ran a clamed 600bhp from ford from the factory and that was sold to the public, (the car in the video) there was originally only going to be 20 cars for public sale but with the banning of the group b championships ford took the 4 cars going to be made for the next class up in group b the B/12 (2000cc+) with the new 2100cc BDTE engine instead of the B/11 class (1600cc - 1999cc) that the original rs200 ran in as it was a 1800cc BDT engine.......... The developer of the 2100cc BDTE engines in the evolution rs200 brian hart said the engines in race form are capable of producing 750bhp to almost 900bhp in full race trim. So you are getting the 2 specifications of car mixed up as there are 2 different engines from the original rs200 and the rs200evo..... There is a famous rs200 that was converted to the ISMA GTO spec that ran a 2000cc BDTE and ran 750bhp and cable of 900hp in 1988 till 1991 series. It now resides in Ireland and if you look up "RS200 IMSA" on youtube ken block is doing a walk round the car with the owner. Also The "monster energy drink pikes peak" rs200 engine is a Julian Godfrey Engineering specific built engine. Julian started with an 1800cc BDT engine bored out to 2400cc making a reliable 925bhp due to the more modern tech with the potential for alot more if needed as Julian has said in an interview when asked about the engine and said it can make 1200bhp no issues ... I agree with you that 100% of the groups b cars never ran at full potential due to reliability and making it through the events but still at the same they all hat the potential for over 600bhp regardless. Audi had plans to make over 1000bhp in the evo2 quattro but that was stamped out for not needing that much power. my power figures are correct, aswell as all the other information I gave. So instead of saying I'm spreading false information and dreaming of "boy racer" power levels, look up all the information I said, it is all online and its all in black and white so do some due diligence and Have a nice evening👍
