that’s not what an eye for an eye means edit: “an eye for an eye” does not make sense here because the phrase is like saying “you do it to me, i’ll do it to you” or “if you hit me i will hit you back”. an example would be: if you cut off someone’s thumb, then “an eye for an eye” would mean that you would have your thumb cut off. that is not what is happening here. what we have here is just simple sacrifice
