A missing year and a half of pro-development is objectively a fairly big deal. And more importantly: 4 season ending injuries is a massive red flag. A single year of very inpressive play is an anomoly relative to his health. Nothing against him, but several teams wont draft him due to injury concerns alone. That and concerns with how he'll translate to the NFL (normal for a prospect) are why he's not talked about in the top end of (most) mocks. Still early and only takes 1 though

Shout out to this dude showin Penix some love. As a die hard UDub fan, of course I’m ridin w my guy Penix all day. Sure he’s a 6 year college QB but it’s not like he’s already in his 30’s or somethin. He’s got an NFL caliber arm and as long as he stays healthy he’s got the potential to have success at the NFL level. Yeah he’s got injury history but you’re not drafting him to be a dual threat QB, ur drafting him to be a pocket passer. He’s not a statue though either, he’s got solid pocket mobility and can surprise you every now then and break off a decent gain with his legs. If he gets drafted by the right franchise, in the right situation, with the right coach and coaching staff for him and a scheme that fits him well then that team could hit a real money pick. But thinking about it from the perspective of a franchises GM and stuff, they are always needing to think about the long term future of the team. 1st round draft picks carry a ton of value in the NFL these days and if you are looking to draft a QB with your teams 1st round pick then you want to be drafting a QB who will be the face of the franchise for the next decade plus. If u took Penix in the 1st round then by the time his rookie deal is up and hes ready to sign that 2nd contract Penix would be 29 years old. And with him being older you really can’t afford to draft him and have him sit for a year behind a vet cause that’s just not smart tactics. You would love to be a team with a good roster already that has either a vet journeyman at QB now (like a TB or something), or a team that has a QB that just doesn’t seem like they are going to pan out (like a NYG) or a team that has a good but not great QB and you’d like to upgrade (like a SEA). Use a mid 2nd round pick on him or something and they will be reaping the benefits

@@peej2faded513 No one will be going 2k receiving yards a year consistently. The NFL is a whole different level of physicality. There have been a lot of good college qbs who havent done good in college. Im not saying that hes gonna do bad, but I dont know if the vikings will just throw away a really good nfl qb and risk having him not do good.

Caleb Williams and Drake Maye are significantly above him at prospects. Daniel’s is looking like the clear QB3 at this point. That’s puts Penix QB4 at best

To me he seems like a qb that should go early to mid 2nd round because of the injury history but then end up being one of the best qbs in the draft if he’s healthy. If a team like Denver takes terrion Arnold or a great pass rusher in the first, and penix in the second it could be a franchise changing draft 🤷♂️

I love Penix he made my alma mater relevant for the first time in decades. Problem is we've seen great WRs boost up QB draft stock. He had 2 NFL caliber receivers at UW. It comes down to work ethic and intangibles. Since 2011 there have been 38 first round QBs. Of the 28 that have had more than 1 contract, only 11 have been resigned with their first team and only 1 (Cam Newton) has been signed a second time. 1st round QBs are usually not who we thought they were. Statistically speaking (not using eyes at all) he will wind up a bust.
