@Benjamin Casto Mods certainly make a difference when it comes to Horsepower. Most OEM parts are quality stuff, agreed. However the evo world has a decent amount of good aftermarket parts available. If you had $600 to spend, would you buy new OEM camshafts or aftermarket GSC/Kelford/HKS camshafts?

Great break down Paul! My son took my original 2003 evo as his first car. And we have had a great time building up his Evo. We have spent 4k on mods. Boost controller, intake, full buschur 3 inch exhaust, 1000cc injectors, fuel pump and a tune, oh and two clutches lol, stay away from clutchmasters. But the smiles per gallon have been worth every penny! Thanks for sharing your journey with all of us! Have a great day!

Hard to compare as I bought my IX new in 2006. I only had to add a pre-cat-less downpipe, Walbro pump, Ecutek tuning, and a Supersprint exhaust (as that is EU approved - not the best option but I didn't want the hassle of changing it every time the car has to be inspected). I wanted driveability more than raw power, and also wanted reliability. Total costs (did not install them myself) was $2,200. Makes 280 BHP ATW and 496 Nm with the main cat in place, which is safe for the 6-speed gearbox. 14 years later it still goes extremely well, and can be made back to stock in about 2 hours. I did have it repainted as the red started to fade after 13 years, got heavily into detailing, so now it looks brand new again. Overall the cheapest car I ever bought/drove. Only done 39K miles with it, so the resale value is quite astonishing. But... why sell it, right? Anyway, you did a great job, and while it did cost money, you did end up with a perfect car.

Evo is car that you don't want to keep it stock, you upgrade it to 400 hp with stock turbo, and after a while you want to build the engine with bigger turbo, then you'll see yourself spending more than 50.000 $ on parts and own a 700-800 hp evo. I think I could do that with my automobile. I have a JDM1994 MR2 GT-S with a 3rd gen 3sgte. I personally want an a2w intercooler setup. A turbo upgrade, either a billet wheel upgrade or kit. Probably would need a new clutch, I don't mind adding a aluminum fly while I'm down there. Plugin 800cc sards, of course I could do an upgraded rail and maybe squeeze a bit more out or do an e85 setup. Stock internals I start to.lose confidence 450whp+. Headlift might be a factor if Im shooting for numbers that high, so might need L19 headstuds. Link ecu. I got my exhaust used for $460, new it would be a $1000 exhaust, titanium 3" single exit. The dpipe for an oem.bolt pattern turbo was $250. It depends on some of this. But around $5xxx and you can have a 100% whp increase in the mr2. If cost is a factor, some of this you reduce costs on but they're not as nice, like an a2w setup vs ebay smic, or insisting on an e85 tune.

@BoostedFilms
@BoostedFilms 3 жыл бұрын
Calay Flippo evo 9 and 10 BOV’s are better than the oem 8 bov. Choosing between 9 or 10 only depends on where you want the vacuum hose connection positioned.

Matt Di Rienzo kelford 272/272s, gsc beehive springs, a borg s257sxe, basic fuel system, exedy twin disk, full bolt ons. It never broke the car was at that power for 7 years. The clutch blew out the bottom of the bell housing from racing and I decided to build the motor
