Kia hasn't had the greatest history in sporty cars, and some say they're cheap and unreliable. Kia is trying to be different and I appreciate that. Most companies are going to economic based cars to adapt for the future, so sporty cars are being thinned out for new regulations. The fact that Kia had the audacity to devote time to create a good sporty sedan is a step in the right direction for keeping our awesome sports cars alive and kicking.

Back in the early 80's, when the Celica Supra came to North America, people said "it's still a Toyota". Food for thought. And we get the AWD model in Canada!

There is absolutely nothing not to love about this vehicle. Have had a 2019 GT2 AWD for 5 months and has all the performance, comfort, style, options and handling of a much more expensive brand, not to mention an outstanding warranty and 0% interest loan. Proud to own this sporty sedan with a KIA badge!

This is the first ever Car Throttle video I watched and it was the beginning of me watching everything else they make. Feels nice coming back to it, like visiting an old friend.

I understand the flack that Kia gets. In most industries, you're only as good as your previous work, and when your previous work was considered cheap, unreliable and ugly for many years, a bad reputation is to be built. However, it wasn't too long ago, around 2010, when the results of their 2006 decision to hire Peter Schreyer, a design award winning, former Audi/VW employee, really started to pay off. He understood that Kia was currently crawling, and needed to learn to walk, before it could flourish and run. They started by making their cars reliable, involving making them safer, achieving higher safety ratings and using better quality components, with just flat out better designed cars. On top of this, the Korean roots of focusing more on features and technology really shone through, allowing their new, improved, reliable cars to be filled to the brim with technology. SatNav, tablet display, parking sensors, rear parking camera, heated seats, electric windows, and many more features. And, to make things better, a lot of these features were either standard, or even when added, were cheaper than other competing vehicles from manufacturers such as Vauxhall, Ford, Toyota etc. And for many years, they kept making reliable cars, using high quality components, and doing sensible design, using sensible engines, meaning that cars had the power necessary to function well, not having an overly excess amount of power. Focusing on reliability, sensible design, serious technology and offering a 7 year warranty at competitive prices, Kia has worked real hard for what they have today. So, now they've learned to walk, able to make respectable cars for most demographics, they are able to run, allowing them to build the stinger. If you put another brand badge on that car, you wouldn't question its legitimacy, because the car is just that good. I think most people can agree that the car looks absolutely fantastic, a truly modern, sharp look that is actually quite distinct from any other manufacturer. And the engine they used, for the power and performance is unlike Kia, but because of the solid foundation they have built up, they have executed this car really well, despite not having done anything like this before. If Kia keeps innovating like this, making brilliant cars, fantastic interior, brimming with tech on a 7 year warranty, cheaper than their competitors which lack these features, it shouldn't be long before people realise they're wrong to keep avoiding them due to a bad history (Which I think they have more than made up for in recent years)

People used to laugh at honda and toyota back in the day until one day, they were just better than the competition in every way. Kia is heading down a similar path. I wouldn't say they are there yet, and they are facing much stronger competition than the japanese did back in the day against american crap boxes of the 70's and 80's, but they have definitely come a long way and deliver a car that exceeds expectations for the money spent. Time will tell if they are reliable enough to matter, but backing up the car with a 7 year warranty vs 3 years from everyone else, does at least show they have faith in their own product.

Kia and Hyundai are stepping their game up so I say give them a chance. If they manage to shake things up with established brands likes of Audi, Mercedes Benz, and BMW, then I say go for it. Hell, Genesis is showing promise as well. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on them that's for sure.

I have a 2019 StingerGT2 Limited AWD - and absolutely love it. It was my reward for enduring through 5 other KIAs over the years (Forte, Rio, Sedona, Sorento & Optima). Great review, btw. The tailgate party with the dog poo was lol. Performance aside - the list of features is equally impressive - and as a music fan the 750w 15-speaker (with sub-woofie) Harmon/Kardon audio is sweet on the ears.

Owned my gts for around 6 weeks now, coming from a megane rs250, really nice upgrade, really love the car. And it's only £150 to tax for a year 😁 insurance is about the same as the megane, but MPG is slightly worse. Great fun car, glad I bought it 😊

I feel like everyone that hasn't drove a new Kia needs to keep their opinion to themselves. I had the opportunity to drive this car and several others which I originally thought would all be horrendous. But I was pleasantly surprised by all of them (aside from the 2018 impala, that thing is overpriced trash) New cars from all sorts of brands have gotten so much better in the past few years. Especially with the Korean brands.

The car looks pretty damn good in my oppinion but it's gonna get the hate cuz it's not the common bmw masseratti or whatever it is.Kinda unfair but that's how the world works i guess

Just placed my order on this car yesterday, same color inside and out, GT2 AWD, so damn excited to get my hands on it. Drives great and handles great for someone who wants a DD that has some spunk. Traded my '16 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel.

Had an old Kia Cerato from 06 with the 1.6 diesel in it. Put over 20k on it in a year and the only thing I needed to replace was tyres. Got it remapped too and it was a fun little pocket rocket.

I hate the " but it's a...." comments. I bet they never driven the car and know only the history of the brand. A cheaper car has not the interior of a expensive.

I'm glad Kia are stepping up their game! Although i feel like they need to have bit of a styling refresh, lose that grill shape and work on the rear end body shape. Also me and i'm sure many other car enthusiasts would love the option of a manual trans.

did a little 130-200 sprint with one of these in my 300hp mazda 3 mps we where about just as fast as each other, witch made me happy as i got 70hp and 2 cilinders less but i'm a bit lighter and that stinger might have been a awd

Good, fair review. A few tweaks to the car's practicality, interior/infotainment quality and engine noise (hopefully before the facelift) and I think this would actually be a damn near perfect car.

I just have seen my first in person. Very nice car. Looks much better in person. Not sure if it does or not but would be awesome if the navigation screen would disappear down in the dash as it looks like it might.

Nice video. I joined the Kia camp back in May after owning my XF SPORTBRAKE for two years, a 4 year old car plagued with reliability issues meant it had to go. My father in law works for Kia so I bought an ex demo optima sportback with 79 miles on the clock. It’s by no means a speed demon but it does all the boring family stuff well and in return gives me 6-700 miles from a tank. Go Korean! 😂

It looks good. It's spec is good. It's power to weight ratio is good. And when you light the tyres, it even sounds good! What's not to like you miserable badge snobs?

In Australia, people are already buying these over the Holden Commodore and the now defunct Ford Falcon. In fact you could pull the Kia badges off it and you could stick any kind of badge you want on there and I'd believe you. Plus, it can do a half decent burnout. Oh great, I like a Kia now. Damnit.

Great review! I now have a 2013 Kia Optima, super reliable, I've been owning it for 2 years but not the slightest problems with it so far. My next car will be this Stinger 3.3, but I have to wait for its prices to drop somewhat. Hopefully I will be owning it in a year :)

I like the stinger. My parents have a Kia Sportage GT Line and it’s really comfortable and it’s fast in sport mode. It sounds nice too sometimes

Only reason I initially scoffed at this car is cause it's basically the only new option we Aussies have left after production of both our V8 Holdens and Sweet Barra powered Falcons ended a couple years ago which I'm still butt-hurt about...

So is this a reasonable cheaper alternative to the M3, AMG C63 and Giulia Quadrifoglio? James May surely did some impressive things with it on the GT.

I know one of my favorite cars is a kia prooseed gt it looks good and sounds good for only having 207 bhp

I just bought the Stinger GT2 here in Arizona, its the same Color as in the Video, and the Interior. Yes the sound is muted, but the fit and finish inside is very nice. The power is as advertised, as I live in Arizona the A/C seats work really well. The steering wheel is also on the left side of the interior as well :)

I used to drive through the country side at 180km in a diesel ix35 and it was awesome Hyundai has some very good engineers and there cars Handel surprisingly well for what they are

As an owner of a 2018 440i Gran Coupe with the MPPSK, I applaud Kia's effort and think it's great when automakers exceed what is expected of them. While I have no doubt that this a well executed car, I don't think the vast majority of 430/440 Gran Coupe buyers, Audi A5/S5 Sportback buyers and Porsche buyers will seriously consider this car as a viable alternative to their car of choice. People tend to focus on specs but much of the nuance and subtlety of luxury that cannot be expressed in a spec sheet is generally lost in this type of comparison. Quality of leather, fluidity of infotainment, the sophistication of the suspension setup and the power delivery and refinement of the engine are examples of factors that cannot be adequately expressed when doing a spec for spec comparison. Even if you look at the acceleration numbers of a non MPPSK 440i with 'only' 320 hp, it out accelerates the more powerful Kia. So while I'm sure this car is leaps and bounds beyond anything they've produced and hopefully the beginning of even better products, at least in its current state I don't see it truly taking customers away from German luxury brands - just my $0.02

I really like Kia Optima turbo. Drove 1300 kms in one stretch. It was way more comfortable. Got enough power. Less body roll than a Ford Fusion . And the best part we got pulled over and impounded for doing 190 km/h in highway.

I like the Stinger is diferrent, new and overall pretty good car. I think Kia made a great job with this one. But the radars, ohhhh those ugly things...Volkswagen was pretty clever in that point, his barely noticable.

I'm not sure about the side vents behind the front wheels, and that red stripe on the side from the rear lights. but other than that, it seems like a good car.
