Dutch guy here with the Gouda knowledge. Pete pronounced the “ouda” part correct. The “G” is a Dutch “G” though, so basically when you say an “H” while suffocating.

The last part. Brilliant. Makes more sense once you learn that Dutch is closer related as a language family to Swiss German than High German. Blew my mind but makes complete sense. Same guttural sounds used.

Can we also use the English "R" sound when saying "run" the "rrr" but coming from the throat?
@-a6833
@-a6833 Ай бұрын
@@pedromiranda1000 no that's a rolling R, you do that with your tongue not your throat, the G that sounds like a suffocating H sounds like the sound you also hear in arabic a lot, that sound people often make fun off when doing skits, like when you have something stuck in your throat and are trying to get it out, that's the G sound

I loved coming to Japan in the summer heat of 2010. Every rice field was green, Kamikōchi was amazing with the forests and lakes, I'd love to go again.

I remember the heat that year. I would wait until 9 pm to walk the 300 meters to the ATM as waiting to cross the street with the heat coming off of the pavement was too much.

My Wife and I are planning our third trip to Japan this November. With it being the shortest of our three trips at three weeks, I'm trying to make sure we get to go to a few of our "we have to go back" spots, and also get to see more of a few places we only got to breeze through before. I'm most excited to see Bepu in the fall if I'm being honest, and to explore Hiroshima more in depth with more than just a day to do it

I really enjoy a train ride down to Kamakura to get away from Tokyo for a bit. A few interesting shrines and temples to see. Nice little beach. And you can easily drive or take a train down to Enoshima to get a nice view of Mt Fuji across the Sagami Bay

It's ironic that Tokyo and Japan in general is so warm now and here in Los Angeles we're having June Gloom with the temperature is parley going over 70F and the sun finally comes out in the late afternoon. There was talk about extending the bar hours to 4a in LA, specifically West Hollywood, which is think is the worst idea. There enough drunks on the street on the week as it is and extending the time would just make the situation worse. Chris, maybe one of those DYSON fans my help you out when you have to shut off the AC. Have a great week.

To whoever asked about those 2 holidays, I found no interruption during that time period last year. Expect it to still be hot, though. I got lucky and only had one bout of rain keep me in a rail station for a short time. Other than that and the heat, it was great.

17:00 I did try cycling from Osaka to Kyoto in August (after the shimanami kaido) on a brompton bike packed with a lot of gear There is a river cycling path that connects between the two cities, but there's not a lot of shade along the route, and it's mostly just baseball fields, soccer fields, riverside parks. AND A LOT OF PESKY BARRIERS on the route If you like cycling, by all means go, but for just a casual ride in the middle of summer, it might be a bit to exhausting.

I went last year in June. Nagano and Matsumoto were my favourite places in Japan. Amazing views all around, and it's like the good parts of Tokyo without the swarms of people - and I didn't come across any other foreigners. Just outside Matsumoto is Lake Suwa which is surrounded by sakura trees and has a scenic temple on one of the roads.

I didn't really hang out in bars but I thought Tokyo shut down a little earlier than the reputation. After a drink or two, the arcades and claw machines sound like a good idea. And yet they close right when I'm ready to waste money.

Ridley Scott isn't a particularly good director when it comes to coherent storytelling but what he does have going is he is a visual genius. Few directors can create an immersive atmosphere the way he can.

Ridley Scott is one of the best visual directors of all time. He has an amazing eye for detail, knows how to dress a set and has a talent for composing interesting shots. However, he isn't great with stories. It seems like whenever he made a movie with a great story, that can more be attested to the screen writer. As such, he was at his best when he had to collaborate. Now that he has more clout, is a Hollywood legend and can just do whatever he wants, his movies tend to be pretty hit and miss (mostly miss) Like many successful directors, victory has defeated him.
