He was looking for a way out of the challenge. The show may have edited out Q thinking about quitting, but it's just as likely David (you have to earn last name status) saw Q questioning if they would finish as Q wanting to quit because he already wanted to quit.

Jalinski was talking about being a legendary player after losing his vote and quitting everything he volunteered for and didn’t have the awareness to consider he might be voted out. Legend has it he is the worst player in survivor history.

I’m not sure I buy this given what we saw in the show. It definitely seemed like he floated the idea of giving up the Sweat challenge first, and Q eventually agreed. A lot of what they said and did wouldn’t make sense if it was Q’s idea. That said, I don’t think he was wrong in looking at how much time they had left, how little progress they made, and deciding it’s not worth expending the energy. They were right to call it quits. He should just own it instead of writing a revisionist history.
