The reason Jews bury people who pass away as soon as possible is because of the following verse (Deuteronomy 21:23):
But you shall not leave his body on the pole overnight. Rather, you shall bury him on that [same] day, for a hanging [human corpse] is a blasphemy of God, and you shall not defile your land, which the Lord, your God, is giving you as an inheritance."

In Islam, we also have to bury the dead as immediately as possible. We can postpone the burial if there are relatives living in other cities, and we can wait until they come but usually not more than 24 hours. Even some will bury the dead at night if there's no strong reason to postpone the burial.

it’s also due to sanitary reasons. Decomposition starts immediately after someone dies, and that is something the deceased’s loved ones would rather not see.

@@Aldrin.17 it actually says the exact opposite in Islam we refer to Christians and Jew’s as people of the book and we must respect them. Because at the end of the day we believe in the same prophets and same one true god.

I'm Roman Catholic, but I agree that we should do the same as in the Jewish tradition. Sometimes Christian wakes are drawn out as long as a week depending on how many relatives there are and where they are from. And of course they are embalmed for obvious reasons.

Not anymore. That was more of a traditional habit, but it's almost the opposite and the funeral is arranged for the day after, regardless of family members living far.

In principle it is a question of where you are climatically in the world. Traditional burial rituals have developed from this. Nowadays, thanks to refrigeration units, it is no problem to lay out corpses.

Everything he is saying is true I’m a Roman Catholic and I’ve been in the funeral Business for over nine years and I work every Sunday for a Jewish funeral home and I see how there services are done and it’s so different than my Catholic Religion and I respect the Jewish faith 100%

Also we don’t bury on Shabbat or holidays. My dear friend passed away on Friday and will have the funeral on Tuesday

In Islam, we also have to hurry after death but sadly people here in asia modified things according to themselves and not according to the Quran, there are so many similarities between us since we all root up to Abraham(PBUH), i hope we get along leaving politics aside. In Armenia funeral takes 3 rd day of his/her death , immediately after funeral takes funeral repast ( meal by family)… After 7 days family members and relatives must go cemetery and pray… Family members should wear black 40 days after funeral and 40th day family members must go to cemetery. After 1 year of his/her death day all relatives and friends is going to cemetery pay tribute then 1 year repast( usually banquet hall) same day .

Can persons who have done grievous acts against the community or family are they still buried with a rabbi and in a sacred cemetery ?

There is such a concept but it is rare for the issue to come up since people now designate their own place of burial in a family section way in advance.

May I ask what happens if there is an unfortunate act of violence or something such as a murder where the state takes custody of the body? Does the funeral just tend to happen as soon as the body is released? Is it considered disrespectful?

In such situations the body is allowed for the authority to conduct their necessary investigations

In traditional Judaism, embalming is prohibited. Generally speaking, every effort is made to bury an intact body, including what embalming would remove.

Well there is no embarrassment in being dead.It happens to anyone.It is obvious that ,that law was instituted reason of decomposition with in the 24hrs period.Especially in the Mideast sun where that law came into being.

I would disagree. A long time ago even before religion rules, the dead body would start to decompose in the Middle Eastern heat. That is why Islam also does quick burial. Very practical.
