That's what we call real accounting and establishing the meaning of profit from a business. I am a farmer and I agree you. The biggest problem in Kenya that makes it difficult in poultry farming is the high cost of feeds due to high taxation. But I have to continue anyway

No way 2 workers can look after 10k chicken on a deep litter system. That's humanly not possible unless if you have invested in a fully automated system which will cost you millions....and ofcourse that will come with other related additional costs that will make the venture not viable.

Hello. Unfortunately it is not possible to formulate high quality feeds for layers as the main components i.e. Protein concentrate is not easily available to the local farmer and also the price is high. This is the reason why feeds formulated for layers breed are expensive.

Don't be discouraged. Find a way to cut down on your cost of production and maximising the sale price for the eggs and that can earn you a profit. For instance, consider value addition of the eggs to increase the selling price. But before proceeding, please do some proper market research to determine selling prices and the actual cost of production before spending your hard-earned money in the name of investing in layers chicken.

The consumption market for eggs and meat is soooo large that no one person, company or even government institution can ever meet the demand. The market is large enough for everyone including yourself. The goal of our videos is to educate people so they know how to do poultry farming in a profitable way. That is why we share numbers and not emotions or hearsay from other people or sources.

Where are the eggs coming from if the farmers are only making loses, why haven't they stopped, explain this please, I need to understand.
@Homerangepoultry
@Homerangepoultry Жыл бұрын
Eggs in Kenya are majority imported from Uganda. The few that are produced locally come from DIFFERENT farmers. Each day, a new uninformed farmer is jumping into keeping the layers because they know there is demand. Yes demand is there because this is food, but no farmer makes money. This is why you find no company in Kenya has established itself as an egg producing company despite there being demand. It's unfortunate that we have built a system where new farmers are hooked into losses and once they do, they exit, and a new farmer comes in and suffers the same. Unless if it's money laundering, no exclusive layers farmer exists in Kenya or has been doing it for years and years. Most do only 1 or 2 batches and they suffer losses and close. It's a very sad state of affairs.

Hello Clement. The video has outlined the situation in Kenya. We are not familiar with the status of layers farming in Ghana but of importance is that farmers make informed choices that will ensure they are not running into losses. It would be wrong and misleading if we use our channel to encourage people to venture into a business that will lead them to losses.

@@user-yd5wu3sk1x Very good question. We will now illustrate how you will make a LOSS of Kshs. 11, 263,306 from your 10,000 layers giving you 8,000 eggs per day.
