In real life, it was a different story. Countess Vaughan struggled with self-esteem issues. When she was on 227, she overheard Helen Martin, the old lady that sat in the window, talking about her weight. Mind you, she was just a child.

Moesha was 100x better because they talked about stuff that real people go thru from having a step mother while the birth mother passed away, to typical teenagers rebelling once they hit puberty and racism and drug use. Season 6 of Moesha was a lack luster Parkers show

The main reason why I'm in the minority on not loving the parkers was because of how dumb they made Kim. They did the same thing to Junior in my wife and kids as the show went on and I always just thought it gave cheap laughs

For some reason sitcoms would do this with a lot of their characters. In boy meets world they made Eric stupider over the seasons too. Sure Eric ha died ditsy moments, but we knew he was intelligent. But as the seasons went on, they made his characters dumber

This almost always in happens in shows that have dumb characters, and I think it's cause writers change over time. Characters like Patrick, Cosmo, Max Russo etc start off as "smart-dumb" characters because the original writers understand what the value of the dumb chracter is in comedy. Later writers don't have the talent to pull it off, so they make the character "just dumb".

I don’t think the show knew what to do with her character. They were more focused on Nikki and the professor and Kim became the dumb sidekick. I do wish the show focused more on Kim towards the end.

The Parkers were more about comedy, Moesha was more about how a typical black middle class family should be portrayed. They talked about much more serious real life issues on Moesha.

I can literally enjoy both shows for those reasons moesha was more serious and relatable alot of young black girls need to watch moesha the parkers is something that could make us laugh enjoy good music and be greatly entertained both countess and Brandy deserved to be leads on these shows

Kind of like Cat Valentine from Victorious (Ariana Grande) in the first Season she was Funny, Smart, Had her moments of being Bipolar and she was very aware of her surroundings her catchphrase was "what's that supposed to mean?" Then when Season 2 came her character wasn't as smart her voice was changing a little bit. Season 3 she got dumber and dumber and in the spin off Sam & Cat She was so dumb and would speak in that baby high pitch voice

She deserved so much more, i wish she would’ve done a lot more than just moesha, and the Parker’s. It would’ve been nice to see her on wild n out, and some more movies and I always thought that she would’ve been funny playing dashiki in don’t be a menace but she was too young and trace did good.

Since Kim's character was one of the main characters on The Parkers, I guess they had to dumb down her character to give her more of a comedic flare as opposed to Moesha.

This is called Flanderization. Just like Eric Matthews from Boy Meets World. Hard to believe she played one of the longest running black female tv characters for 9 seasons. Up there with Tootie, Laura and Harriet Winslow and Weezy Jefferson. When you’re on tv that long, the character will evolve at some capacity.

I definitely preferred Kim on Moesha. To me she was more well balanced character. She was ditzy but had street smarts.

You must have forgotten that Kim got over chasing Hakeem in Season 2 and got with Michael until her time ended on Moesha. She didn't stay chasing after a man like Nikki did throughout the entire run of a show up until the last couple of episodes.

the thing is moesha and miles were both on the parker’s same with niecy and hakeem in season 2 moe, Niecey and hakeem all guest star but nothing is mentioned about mo being pregnant or miles getting kidnapped

I recently binged both shows in order and I was so disappointed that Kim took a backseat on her own show. It felt like Monique’s show rather than Kim’s spin-off. Kim had so much personality on Moesha they should’ve kept

Dumbed down or not... i think we could all agree that she was that sweet confident, beautiful, friend that would be the first to call bullshit when needed. My only complaint was that i wish they had her sing more. Plus, not everyone is good at school and she was funny as hell!

i like Moesha WAY Better then The Parkers , Moesha was Alot More Realistic . . . the Parkers had Way tooo Much Comedy in it and Nikki Constantly Chasen Professor Olgevee throughout All 5 seasons of the Show became More Annoying then Funny and by the 3rd Season of The Parkers Nikki goin After Professor Olevee wasn’t Funny at all it was Flat out Annoying and Creepy Stalker Sexual Harassment stuff that was Goofy and Played out

“The Parkers” was funnier than “Moesha” IMHO, as I was not really a true Brandy fan. Though, I like some things that she put out, such as her first album (as it had some dope jams on it!), overall, I didn’t really care for her, as she seemed arrogant and believed her own hype. People who act like that usually do that because they are not secure. In Brandy’s case, she’s a mediocre singer…and Countess clearly had more vocal talent. So, giving Countess her own show allowed her to progress into her own career without Brandy and her drama. Also, the “Moesha” storylines became very weak when they introduced Ray J.

Kim had nobody to bounce off in The Parkers. Her and Stevie didn’t really have much chemistry. I hated what they did to her on The Parkers - being dumb isn’t funny.

Joey Tribbiani also noticeably got dumber as Friends went on. In Season One you'll notice he wasn't even dumb at all. They tend to dumb down the side characters like that.

The parkers was a wayy better show. To me it appealed to everyone whereas Moesha appealed to teenage girls. That being said....I started paying more attention to moesha when Ray j came on board BUT once it was revealed that frank was his father...it was a wrap for me. Parkers and freestyle unity all the way.
