@MrNachtgespenst
@MrNachtgespenst 18 күн бұрын
I am actually totally against that and what Robert did disgusts me. But I also had my eyes opened in a YT discussion a little bit: Robert did feel ashamed for hurting her in bed while being drunk and blamed it on the alcohol and I for my part actually do believe him. He was still in love with Lyanna (at least what he perceives as love) yet was forced to sleep with Cersei to have heirs. A Cersei who already hated him. Their toxic relationship really started out after their wedding night after all. That means, while he preferred the company of whores, who took his coin but slept with him willingly, he was actually kinda forced to sleep with Cersei in the beginning. Again, he did feel ashamed after it happened the first time. I actually think it became the norm for them over time. So starting out: Robert says Lyanna name in bed, so Cersei starts hating him and is more reluctant to sleep with him. Robert however is forced to do his duty. Cersei keeps on insulting him, he keeps drinking more and more wine to forget the face of the hateful woman he has to sleep with. Robert hurts Cersei during sex (that was not him raping her yet, we actually don't know when that started), she tells him about it and he feels ashamed. Cersei starts hating him even more and therefore insults and threatenes him more. Robert on the other hand is a typical Baratheon: Short tempered as hell. So he is loosing his patience with her again and again and somewhere along the way hitting her becomes as normal as breathing to him. So to sum it up: She insults him, ridicules him and physically attacks him herself (that he was a wall of a man at that time and it didn't so much as leave a red mark, doesn't change the fact that she likes to inflict violence onto others, it just didn't work with him at all) and threatens his children (Mya Stone first and then every last one of his bastards). Robert on the other hand, is rough during sex, beats her and later on even rapes her. For our modern understanding, he is committing far more horrible crimes, but GoT is not written in a modern setting at all. It's medieval times. In medieval times, marital rape was pretty normal and 100% legal. There were a lot of loveless marriages and more than one wife who didn't want to sleep with her stranger of a husband. It's also a bit of a psychological thing. Cersei took control of every aspect of his life Jon Arryn didn't take control of himself. So the only real thing where Robert feels worthy and "mighty" is during battle and during sex. Treating Cersei like shit in bed is probably the most control he ever had over her during their relationship. I don't want to defend his actions, I just want to try and explain how he turned from: "I hurt her while sleeping with her, God's I'm sorry", to "So what if I hit my wife, I don't care and you shouldn't too". They both are responsible for their relationship turning toxic so damn early and getting worse over time. A shame people can't get divorced in GoT, because those two need it. Badly.

Cersei killed a little girl when she was a child. She was a psychopath from an early age. She deserves the death penalty for cuckolding a king which led to a war (the deaths of thousands). If she had done her duty and produced legitimate heirs, thousands of people would have lived in peace. Instead she decided to spite Robert for still being in love with a brave and kind person like Lyanna instead of loving her. Cersei doesn't have empathy, compassion or guilt. She doesn't feel shame or regret. She is the definition of a narcissistic paranoid psychopath....and you think a slap is crossing a line? Wipe the sand out.

She was supposed to marry rhaegar but he chose Elia, and later she was married off to Robert who was in love with lyanna and both Robert and rhaegar (in a way) fought over lyanna. Cercei was always rejected or was a replacement. Robert never even put any effort to try and have a honest relationship with her ever. He was never a husband to her even for once. The person who loved her can't love her openly because obviously they're siblings. Her mother died young and father never loved her unconditionally (like ned loved his daughters) I'm not saying her actions can be justified, but lack of love can do things to people
